Giving toys both level and zone restrictions is still IMO one of the dumbest decisions Blizzard's made in recent years. Particularly the zone restrictions. Effectively makes even fun items like toys expansion-locked. That's pretty much everything in the game these days though, isn't it?
It drops from getting in combat though and when combined with the 1 hour cooldown it's... not as useful as you would hope. But yes, I immediately noticed this because I had also taken advantage of the no-fall-damage 'vehicle' in Maw, of the borrowed Shadehound. Grab one of those and you can safely jump down cliffs. Also, the butterfly toy is a 30 second waterwalking buff. Great for annoying parts of Ardenweald.
The problem with clamoring for flying is that neat tricks like this will get made instantly obsolete.
Hotfixed in 3...2...1 thanks Wowhead!
Place your bets now for how long it will take for Blizzard to nerf this so that you will take fall damage. I don't think it will be in patch 9.0.5, but maybe in 9.0.6? That's what I'll bet my hard earned coppers on.
Did not know about no falling damage, however now that you made a post about this - and this being fun. This will be hot fixed silently soon - no fun allowed.
I remember back in the old WotLK days, when the Traveler's Tundra Mammoth initially prevented fall damage since it counted as a vehicle. That got fixed quick. This isn't like that. As a zone-locked item with a one hour cooldown, I don't see any reason this would be changed. The Shadowlands umbrella toys can already be used to prevent fall damage pretty reliably, and their cooldown is just three minutes.
Uh oh, Blizz smells fun.
Might be useful. But nothing added post-WoD beats the Goblin Glider/Goblin Glider Kit 3-min CD, 2-min duration, and you CAN CHANGE DIRECTION, a thing you can't do with most toys, or even other engineering tinkers like parachute (or even the mount equipment parachutes).
NERF INCOMING! DIVE FOR COVER!

I remember, during Wrath, when they introduced the two seater engineer motorcycle that it was classified as a vehicle rather than a mount due to carrying a passenger. This gave the same affect of no fall damage. People would go down the long tunnel in the sewer of Dalaran and proceed to drive off the isle and slam on those world below taking no damage. It was fun.
this toy's no fall damage isn't exclusive nor is it even that great.. there are toys/items which cause you to not only take no fall damage but instantly teleport your character to the ground when used when falling. one example was the Twiddle Twirler: Sentinel's Glaive which was nerfed, but there exist alternatives that I shall not name as they will get nerfed if the spotlight is put on them as this toy was.
Huh.Lemme know when they actually fix the WQ to be doable, rather than a frustrating headache.
