I really don't get Blizz's overly-controlling attitude about character customization.I mean, it's a game where customizing the characters themselves is extremely limited. So you'd think they'd allow more leeway as far as outfits. But no, they've always told us they'd be somehow offended if we wore Blizzard art, but not the latest Blizzard art-- as if older artwork was somehow inferior just because it was old. Now when they're finally going to give us a way to decide what we want to wear, they tell us they don't want us to wear Blizzard artwork unless its serious Blizzard artwork. They're still missing the point: we want to create characters that look unique, and that means sometimes we want to be whimsical about it. But Blizz just can't let go of the reins. I mean, all the options we have for gear are there because Blizz designed it and put it in game. Shouldn't that be enough control for them? It's not like they're letting players mod their armor. So they're very late to the game-- and they still insist on being in the driver's seat. I just don't get the control-freak attitude.
Over controlling about this? How so? So far, the only restrictions are ones that make sense: only same type of armour(cloth to cloth, leather to leather etc etc), same type of weapons, with those that are restricted to main hand remaining that way, and they aren't going to allow, at this point in time, to let you use the vendor trash white and gray item sets, and the jury is still out on silly items(such as fish and the like).I love that Blizzard has finally putting changing the skin of the armour, but people now need to complain about it....can't please everyone eh?

@Adamsm-- Yes, they could please everyone-- by not putting unnecessary restrictions on it. You say those restrictions are OK, and so your'e fine with them. Does that mean everyone has to share your opinion? Of course not. But then, casting those who don't agree as being ingrates allows you to pretend to hold some kind of moral high-ground, apparently. Whatever you need to fell good about yourself, I guess.
I'm specifically talking about Blizz deciding what's too "silly" or not. I'm not talking about technical restrictions. There are other games that will let you appear to wear the gear of your choice, without feeling the need to limit it to some dev's aesthetic ideal. To allow customization but then try to declare what's a "good" customization and what isn't, is unnecessarily controlling and will ultimately defeat the purpose of such options.
I liked Zarhym's chat. He shows that Blizzard is listening, even if they can't do anything atm, and gives the reasons why. He's probably my favorite blue poster.
They should allow "silly" items. You don't HAVE to use them. If someone wanted to run around with a chef's hat, chef title, a frying pan, and a fish just to fight as the "guild's cook," I think that would be funny and pretty awesome. You may not share my opinion, but I think that just because it's silly doesn't mean it shouldn't be there. Again, you don't have to use them.
Looking forward to Mogging :)I'd like to see the silly items be an option but won't be heartbroken if it doesn't happen.
i'm not sure what part blizzard isn't getting. A game is supposed to be fun, if i want to using rolling pins, and fish to fight creatures i can.. obviously with a stat disadvantage. So, why not let me transmog to those items. It's entirely and totally contradictory. I understand that in PvP there has to be some semblance of normality - the ability to be able to distinguish class, and ability through gear, so simply revert all gear to their pre-transmogged state in PvP. PvP realm? no problem, simply revert to pre-transmogged state for enemy faction in contested zones, or when in world-PvP combat. there are very simple solutions to these problems, just it seems that someone at blizzard isn't thinking laterally about it.
