New Season 2 Mythic+ Affixes Revealed - Quaking, Grievous, Volcanic Removed

MYTHIC+

The Vortex Pinnacle is available with this week’s Mythic+ test.
There are new affixes and adjusted affixes available for testing. Players can purchase scrolls from the keystone vendor to add to these to their keystone.

New Affix: Incorporeal – While in combat, incorporeal beings appear and attempt to destabilize players with spells that reduce their damage and healing done. Incorporeal beings are susceptible to all forms of crowd control.
New Affix: Afflicted – While in combat, Afflicted Souls appear that seek the aid of players. Afflicted Souls spawn with poison, curse, and disease afflictions. Removing any of these afflictions or restoring the spirit to full health causes it to despawn. Fail to remove their afflictions in time will inflict players with a negative status effect.
New Affix: Entangling – While in combat, entangling vines snare players.
Updated Affix: Explosive – Fewer Explosive Orbs spawn, but they now have substantially higher health.

The following affixes have been retired for Dragonflight Season 2:

Volcanic

Explosive is the most horrible affix in the world, that brief explanation of the update doesn't really tell much. Will it be only 1 explosive that we'll have to focus down? Or will it be many at once again? Hopefully not the latter :(Comment by Adradiaone of the worst things in wow are snares imo
and they bring it to m+....Comment by DurantyeMeh, glad to see those 3 gone tbh but I think spiteful, bursting, and storming need to get axed too. Any affix that overly punishes players of specific roles or class/spec needs to go. Especially ones designed just to be frustrating like storming.

Don't agree with adding an affix that is going to end up super addon reliant either, the sickly souls affix is going to require healers and off-healers to get an addon to make it not cancerous to try and do the mechanic. Unless they finally got it right and will have them show up in party frames. But considering their history with healer mechanics like this I find that unlikely.

The explosive change is interesting, I'd like them to add a diminishing returns to it for how many spawn in increasingly large packs though. They can still have an absurd amount of them spawn if a group pulls like madmen if that is their concern, but it has always been frustrating when that affix appears and standard pulls that the game itself just naturally has becomes an annoying #$%^show, especially now that healers won't be able to solo them. Maybe a stacking ICD that refreshes to full based on the HP of the mobs pulled rather than just a static spawn chance per mob pulled.Comment by OuebanDon't really mind these. Honestly, even Quaking wasn't that bad. It was only bad if it procc'd during a forced group up. For example Balakar Khan's electric spear charge or the bad timing of Quaking happening as soon as you use a portal in Halls of Valor to Fenryr. But it could've been fixed by having Quaking just not activate in these scenarios. Eh well.

Do not add affixes that reduce or hinder movement with the ridiculous amount of aoe/swirlies and interrupts needed on 1-shot mechanics.
Do not add MORE HEALER AFFIXES PLEASE. Either reduce the unavoidable damage going out so we don't get another RLP or reduce the burst possible or reduce how often unavoidable damage CAN go out. Playing constant catchup and feeling powerless to correct dps mistakes = not gameplay, just frustration.
Do NOT allow affix combinations to exist where a specific role will just skip a week or do the bare minimum for a vault slot and go touch grass (not that touching grass is a bad thing, highly encourage it) - this is again, not gameplay, this is forcing people to go away for a period of time.Comment by Wchrion said it himself, affixes are to make the dungeon harder. volcanic had very little to no effect of making the dungeon any harder.Comment by DivineshammyMy God, why is this so hard for Blizz? Jesus Christ. Here's how you fix those affixes:

- Grievous - Limit the stack or the damager per stack so it's not quite as overwhelming when paired with various dungeon mechanics. This one isn't bad, but it is too hard. And really gimps healers like druids and monks. Just make it so any healing gets rid of it.....Or turn this into a heal absorb that can't be dispelled. Or make it dispellable but make it so 2 or 3 go out at once.
- Quaking - Get rid of the interrupt part of this mechanic and instead put in a 25% slow. If people stay stacked and get hit then they'll get nuked same as always.
- Volcanic - Honestly, I like how it sometimes wouldn't spawn directly beneath you so you didn't have to move. Maybe make it spawn a little less often but otherwise this was fine.

- Incorporeal - Sure, we'll try it out.
- Afflicted - So what happens to classes that can't dispell this stuff? Are we just going to have "master" class groups where people only invite those who can take care of these debuffs? What happens to classes like warlocks for example? Why not just make this a healer mechanic like in Gorefiend, where a friendly target spawns who needs heals and when you top them off they buff your group? Better yet, the friendly target could have different things wrong it every time is spawns. Maybe it's a bleed, debuff, or absorb and the reward for each instance could be different. I know right, who wants a mechanic to reward? It's not like the few affixes that buffed weren't much more favored over others right?
- Entangling - Why? Does it have to slow, AND stun. Why do your mechanics almost always have to be double bad? The slow component isn't enough when having to deal with regular dungeon mechanics + the other affixes?

And finally EXPLOSIVE - ideally, GET RID OF THIS ONE. Otherwise, the hardest part about explosives is targeting them during large pulls. Especially when lazy players expect the healer to take care of all of them, we spend valuable seconds/GCDs tabbing to find the explosive. And most often than not, I'll tab past the target I need by accident and waste more time trying to get back to it. This one just SUCKS. TAKE IT OUT. I literally don't heal during explosive weeks because trash players expect healers to take care of everything.

If you really really really want to leave explosive then just make it AOEable. Seriously, it's not hard to fix this stuff.....................................Comment by EmicorneMain healer speaking.

Grievous was NOT a problem, explosives definetely are. Why on earth are you removing affixes that were perfectly fine and keeping the ones everyone complains about, that make a push week no fun at all.
Necrotic was a tank affixe, grievious was a healer affixe, then add a DD-only affixe and we're fine ! Inspiring was kind of a focus/DPS check... I miss it, miss necrotic and I will miss grievious.

The affixes pool already felt like healer-only affixes most of the time, ofc it is NOT the case but everyone can think "the healer CAN do it, so the healer HAS to do it". Explosives and Afflicted will be a "everyone's problem" but WHO will be responsible for not wasting their DPS on the orbs or not healing the afflicted that the mage did not bother to dispell ? Or allowing a mate to die just to heal that afflicted...

Stop putting that pressure on the healer's shoulders, stop making affixes where we are the most designed to sacrifice DPS or healing on. We have OTHER THINGS TO DEAL WITH. And by the way that's also a huge source of stress for tanks.

We also will be 100% dependant on our mates for the healing debuff if Incorporeal are not CCed. And you KNOW they won't always be because we've seen how much DF dongeons require all the CC rotation our DDs / tank can provide.

Removing quaking, I don't understand either. Yes it was kind of a pain on certain dongeons or mechanics, juste like Volcanic, but why not keep it, increase the pool of possible affixes and make SOME of them not able to affect SOME dongeons (and replace it by another one) ? That would be a great rework of how affixes work.

Sanguine in vortex pinnacle ? No. Storming either.
Volcanic in SBG ? Should have been a no, just like quaking on AA.
Entangling in The Underrot ? Where are we supposed to kite the snare ? On the next pack of mobs or on the worms emerging from the ground ?

As some said, entangling + spiteful, will be a no-play week.

Though I have to admit it's impressive how each round of new affixes is more stupid than the last. Who thought adding a dispell or CC affix is a good idea? Are they under the impression the baseline dungeons don't already require those? Like who's supposed to do the dispelling of the affixes if the boss already has a dispell mechanic for the healer to pay attention to? How did something with this obvious a problem make it passed the drawing board?

More in general though, I get that modern Blizzard is obsessed with making their encounters as bloated and convoluted as possible. But even they must realize that things are getting rather stupid at this point? players want a seasonal affix only and they take away the seasonal affix while leaving us with the same old stupid annoyances plus "how about doing less dmg randomly while also being snared form time to time? btw, talent into dispel or die."
