"Well done champion! Now we must-- GUH!"
I'm happy to say I haven't seen any Avengers/MCU/whatever movies, so any such references are totally lost on me. Those complaining that this scene is too similar to a movie, well.. takes one to know one..
Why is this so damn cringe... wtf?Why do all the random People show up who have nothing to do with anything. You know what would've felt really great?"I'm not alone..."BOOM Vyranoth swoops in, then Kalecgos, Nozdormu, Merithra and Ebyssian.Fyrakk now surrounded by all 6 Aspects including his sister, casting their Magic on him, forcing him to flee! This would be a culmination of all the Questing, all the Campaigns we've done, everything we worked towards right here. right now.As a cinematic opposite to Deathwing. The Aspects gave up their Power to destroy a bad Dragon and now they're getting back their Power to destroy an even badder Dragon (narratively, not literally). Kind of like with the OW2 Null-Sector Cinematic:Random NPC: "Monsieur Queen Alexstrasza, does this mean Overwatch the Aspects is are back?"Alexstrasza: "Yes. Yes they are."*roll epic music*
I'm simply awestruck, like there have been some bad cinematics in this expansion and in the past but, wow, this may just take the cake. This writing feels like something out of a superhero show for young children. This is worse than the Dragonsoul dialog and laser beam, this is worse than N'zoth kamehameha, even worse than Chromie acting like mini-me on Nozdormu's leg. Metzen brought some faith back for the future but oh man is he gonna have a hard time mopping up this mess. The only positive thing I can say about the writing as a whole in this expansion is that at least it isn't destructive to past lore as far as I can tell, but judging it on it's own, it feels like either tweens and teens wrote this expansion.
Why did i suddently root for Fyrrak? I don't know it just happend.
Generally speaking, agree with the sentiments of the comments. The scene is cringe and very very unearned. Now don't get me wrong, it's delusional to think that everyone involved here wouldn't show up for this (it's a whole lot more sound to criticize that they all haven't been around at least post Vault of the Incarnates, when ^&*! really hit the fan with the Incarnates being released). There is nothing else major going on anywhere else on Azeroth that would take priority over defending Amirdrassil or downing the Incarnates, at this rate. I also get the general implication, based of the first set of characters to arrive, that Khadgar is behind this. He was there when the Incarnates got released and he's our inofficial Guardian now. And while he was around after Vault in some way shape or form, it is entirely believable that he would go off to rally everyone to come and defend the Tree and take the chance to whipe Fyrakk off the board. This has one pivotal problem and that sums up this entire scene: There is next to NO, ZERO, ZILCH implication that this was happening. No questline to show us literally ANYONE rallying all of these people, informing everyone. This moment, in stark contrast to the Endgame Scene it does seem to loosely (at the very LEAST) be inspired by, had zero meaningful buildup. Not even in a short-story or book out of game was this mentioned or hinted at. It comes out of the blue as a "HAH SURPRISE, EVERYONE'S HERE, HELL YEAH!", when the reality is that over 60% of the cast portrayed in this Cinematic has been completely detached from anything going on on the Dragon Isles with what's been shown for what would be roughly 80% of the expansion. If this moment was earned, if we saw an implication of this happening beforehand, to set us up, well of course the odd brainlet would still manage to complain, twirl the mustache and pretend they can do better, but it'd be a couple dozen times better than what we've got here. And of course that still doesn't alleviate the very valid criticism of... where in the actual &*!@ are the other Aspects here? The few characters absent in this scene are the ones who ACTUALLY earned this moment. At this rate, I think the feeling that's supposed to be evoked here is a bit more aligned with WC3's Hyjal. Everyone able from both factions assembling (lol) to defend Hyjal from Archimonde, whereas here in contrast, literally everyone (except the important expansion pillars as far as characters go) assembles to defend a completely new World Tree from a completely new threat. But the Aspects being missing is just.. too much of an oversight -- They clearly thought of including the factions we came across on the Isles, the Centaur are here etc.
"Not alone", you guys remember Thrall vs Garrosh?
Man this is so cringe, what is this for *!@#$ *!@#.. Like 6 year olds are playing this game, really what is this man. Would have been so much better if he killed the red dragon with his axe... but this end man so bad
Avengers Endgame reference? I approve. :D
