They are giving people the option to......not interact with people except friends and guildmates. Well, atleast we are weeding out sensitive people. I do not know how this will work since I see alot more negative points to it than positive.I do not know how it is in NA but I have not met much toxicity on EU.Sure, *!@#$%^s, that occasionally leave disregarding the mythic key owner and *!@#ing up his/her key over petty arguments but those are very rare and I understand people that join the group with the clear objective of timing it and since you cannot time it they leave. It sucks but I understand them. I am more of a mentality of "well, since we are here and we invested time lets take our shot for some loot" but if you do not need the loot then I dont want to deny someone else gear and I simply ask "is someone here for the gear?" if no one then.....I suggest to leave and we leave and that way no one is the #$%^&*!.Maybe I just have a thick skin and dont take personal everything that is being said to me. I just filter out everything is being said to me but I am criticising myself quite alot, and since I want to play as best as I can my Warlock I will compare my performance to Sjele, to Thdlock and to others performing better than me. I have worked in Customer Service jobs for quite some time and you cannot stay sane without not taking things personal in that field you have to hear the problem. I do not have much sympathy to people that bathe in their own pity and make victims of themselves or take everything personal but considering that you have a diversity of people that do bathe in self-pity and like to victimize themselves, a minority of toxic players (barely noticeable) and people that just dont care if you attempt to flame them (like myself) and be on with their m+ run or other type of people this option is still exaggerated. I do have sympathy for players that are trying and asking for help but are being flamed. Still this is extremely rare. By extremely rare I mean, I have met a group of 4 players that were doing a +8 Halls of Attonement that did not knew tricks, which I have taught them and were thankful for. I have met a group of 2 players in Freehold +9 that were a couple and the girlfriend reacted (to be clear, I dont care if they actually were or just acting, for the sake of my argument I take them at face value) poorly to "please stop bodypulling" or "dude, stop ninja pulling" (I know what you are thinking. Yes, she was a hunter) and the boyfriend had to apologize "I am sorry, guys. She is new." and she just turned very toxic and flamed and acted like a spoiled kid when you took their toy and spewing "toxic masculinity" while, ironically, she was toxic. In legion I have met a new player that was so toxic that was taking any and all advices and flamed the !@#$ out of you. He pulled the entire area in Eye of Azshara just because he was told to follow us and stop pulling everything. He was the tank (yes, he was a Paladin, and yes, he was RPing and talking like a Holy Knight/Crusader). This was just a leveling run.Anyway, my point is that across all these years, on EU servers, I have met only one instance where the actual player was flaming the noob/new player and that was because the noob was doing a very poor job (he told me he was using the mouse to heal) in WoD. I used to play ALOT in WoD since I had alot of free time and I was still pretty young and able to sleep just 5 hours and be able to function properly the next day. TL;DR: I play on EU. I dont know how it is on NA. This option is for sensitive people that we barely engage with. The situations where this option is actually useful is extremely rare. I encounter only 5-6 situations across 10 years of playing WoW continuosly where a new player was flamed.
The way people are talking you'd think Blizzard are shooting people for swearing. It's an optional feature if someone doesn't want to read someone's angry screed because they stepped in the fire.
well guess another setting i will disable. like the current one.
Should just raise the age limit to 16/18 instead... no kids are playing WoW anymore anyway. And if they do, they need to see how the real world works.
"Oh no I can't use slurs anymore! This is censorship!"-people who are upset at this
This is nice. Only words from people I don't know are offensive.
Heaven forbid Blizzard gives the player more options lmfao
While more options are generally good, it's hard to imagine that the primary result won't be players arguing over the concept of "censorship".
Blizzard W.So they've made a chat parsing system that can pre screen and censor inappropriate chat..Will be insanely good for new or young players.. trolls be seething mon. Also needs to be applied to tradechat spam asap, no questions asked.. anything to do with rmt or illegal sales, just auto block it.. tyvm
