Maybe it's using the old aspects names because before they met the Titans and were made aspects they were proto dragons. Which I believe looked like the proto drakes. There is that one piece of art with the proto aspects V Galakrond from Dawn of the Aspects stuff. These models remind me of it.
This can already be made with existing customisation, so no point in this being skins from new dung
I wonder if this was just their way of building an NPC quickly, or if it's a player reward, or both. Definitely seems like we might be meeting the pre-aspects in our timey wimey adventures. It may just be that they wanted these NPCs to do dragonriding animations and this was the easy way to rig that all together easily. Or maybe, we'll even ride them.

While we're on the topic, the Proto Drakes would look so much better with darker wings. For some reason, we're stuck with near-white wings with no way to change them. It ruins the overall look IMO.

I’m looking really hard…and they look EXACTLY like the ones we have now 😂 can they just make the highland Drake actually black instead of brown and all will be forgiven for this maybe .01% darker version of the current colors
Well I like 'em. The darker gradient makes the design as a whole more subtle than just "red dragon, green dragon, yellow dragon" etc. Hope they do become available as customization options (and if so, might as well give us something similar for the other dragons too). Though I agree that a similar gradient over the wing membranes would be a very welcome inclusion.

Why do they insist on giving the black and blue protodrakes pink wings? Looks silly.
