Prot paladin tank here, I don't mind necrotic as A) as long as things die at a reasonable clip, I don't get that many stacks and B) if they get too high I have both DS and BoP to clear the stacks. The issue is not the affix, it is people refusing to adjust based on the affix and what is needed to time. 15s and under, you have enough time to pull smaller packs and clear stacks and still make it in time, you don't have to "go go go" all the time. Only change I would make to the affixes is make them a kiss/curse, in the case of necrotic keep the debuff but add an increase in damage done to mobs per stack to maybe make the packs die faster or, if healing is included, off set the healing reduction.Currently affixes are supposed to change how you approach the dungeon, I.E. smaller packs on fort weeks or any week that has a stacking debuff (necro, bursting, etc). For ones like me, 90% of calls to nerf or remove affixes might as well say "I don't want to adjust how I do things, I just want to rush through and splatter my brains on a brick wall when I run into it then complain the wall was there when I could have looked up and stopped before I hit it." This does not mean some don't need work, but I'd rather have at least some affixes that change how things are done as good players adjust, bad players just complain.
I believe Necrotic is important to provide a affix that promotes Kitting and heavy Single Target healing. Don't remove it!
just remove necrotic, people will still do their weekly key and log off on necrotic weeks.
Im seeing a lot of posts saying "necrotic bad" or "tank bad cant play around necrotic".IMO as a vengeance main, it is simply annoying. It definitely separates good tanks from bad tanks. A bad tank will just let it stack and die obviously. But it completely messes with your rotation in a less fun way. You jump into a pack, do as much as you can then kite for 5 seconds then jump back and repeat. You don't get to do a rotation or good damage because you have to just run away. And in some dungeons, if you don't have good dps that know how to cc you are screwed unless you have all your mobility cds up, like halls when the dps don't interrupt the dog buffers.TLDR: Necrotic isn't really powerful if you know what you are doing but it kinda sucks to play around. Doesn't feel that good as a tank.Edit: it also further reinforces kyrian (for vengeance at least) because phial removes the debuff and the kyrian ability is a ranged burst damage you will have for every pull. Its not that I dislike kyrian, but I like variety and vengeance has none in the M+ scene.
Everybody knows that most people prefer to play dps, such that there has always been a shortage of tanks and healers in the 17+ years since launch.These affixes that is meant to challenge players -- or dissuade players -- should strictly negatively affect dps. This can be one major way to push people to tank and/or heal.At the very least, there should not be any affixes that strictly affect tanks and healers.Necrotic is the worst, yes, but Raging is in the same boat and mostly overlooked.
