I think they should enable master loot for guild groups and otherwise keep it personal loot. What you don't want is WoD things where you have all these PUGs where the most desirable items are 'reserved' by raid leader and his friends/buyers.

Comment by Willblade

If Master Loot was still in the game, we probably wouldn't see Method doing all these crazy things on Heroic week?

Is this the argument used to defend the removal of Master Loot? If so, it's extremely weak

It was either a neutral question, or possible an argument against the removal of Master Loot... why would you think it was an argument to defend it...?

In the sense that, if Master Loot was still around, you (or us) as an audience wouldn't be able to follow and see this guild's stunts as a performance act for the wide audience, paralling something of the sort: if the circus wasn't open, you wouldn't be able to see the stunts they performed.

They may have gotten first, but how much good did that actually do them? They were first, but not first by much.

But they were the only guild to kill it without an entire resets worth of gear...sure it is only a day, but that day was the crucial one. Without this prep, Method probably would have required the reset worth of gear, or to use an entirely different strategy. This preparation won them world first, so I am 100% sure it was worth it.

And dont forget they didnt faction change for 2 extra 400 piece

I laugh every time I see someone rage post about Limits faction changing. Somehow that’s the hill to die on but realm changing to clean out resources on others servers is ok.

It did then tremendous good in sponsorships, recognition, recruitment, etc. And whether you like it or not, a win is a win. Whether it be by a day or a week, limit lost and method won. Just like Max and I’m sure other players in Limit have said “we lost, we didn’t get world first and that’s all that matters.” No guild that is actively competing for World first and daytime raiding is thinking world second would be fine too.

personal loot is make game better. protect players. ""this is not method's game or any mythic-runner guilds.""

It doesn't protect players at all. Guilds now ask you to trade loot or you get kicked, simple as that. Forced personal loot made the entire mythic raiding worse, not better

This. No matter what a game does to try to learn players off a behaviour they will just up the anty and require more and be more invasive. If the community had stopped falling into the loot council trap guilds and then complained on forums about not getting loot in them, Blizzard probably would of not done this. I don't think anyone is going to like the next change happening to try to combat this as you guys express dislike for personal loot.

Comment by DanThePaladin

Later, they did something similar in the Cloth / Leather splits with Heroic Rastakhan. They coined him 6 times on their alts to try to get a Deathspeaker Spire so that they could trade the Jadefire Master staff ( Phoenixfire Staff) on alts

This confuses me. But perhaps it's because of how it's written.

You can't trade coined items?

Comment by qaccy

This article is kinda disgusting. Perhaps it's just me, but I'm seeing parallels between 'world first raiding' and using performance-enhancing drugs in athletic sports. It's now less about the game itself and more about how you can game it to get an advantage over the competition.

Comment by insatiable7

Pretty much really.

Combined with whichever guild is more able to have their life orbit solely around this game for money.

Comment by ONCHEhap

Honestly, what I hate the most in this is that they are 100M in debt to a boosting service group.
Fueling the most damaging aspect of the community so much is a terrible thing for the game itself

Comment by 1955027

This. People will never learn tolerance and patience. Because some of them who don't like smth actually have

Comment by Greensmower1

My take on this is that they drove token prices through the floor... I will buy some tokens and wait for the market to recover and sell them for a tidy gold profit... of course if I had the ability to go 50-100M gold in debt... that would be great, but somehow the game won’t let me spend gold I don’t have... weird..

Comment by ankleshark

That is correct. Coined loot can't be traded. So they run all their alts to coin less-than-optimal loot just so the same alts can trade the most desired loot of the same type later on.
Also, that's why they required everyone and their alts to run the whole Alchemy/Jewelcrafting/Engineering thing for the same purpose.

All this so they have a pseudo Master Looter system for the best loot, and players who doesn't adhere get kicked.

It just makes it more complicated for the world first racers to gear the right toons up first, while Ion's pet Personal Loot mechanic still keeping semi-serious raiding teams at a relative disadvantage.

Comment by rodalpho

Are any guilds not gunning for world firsts going to these lengths? If not, I'm having a hard time taking it as an argument against personal loot.

Comment by Dandorian1

So they exploited mechanics to gear up, Anything goes for that world first huh.

Comment by Nurmat

It was exactly like this before bfa, only guild groups could enable master loot

Comment by stym

I'm still having a hard time figuring out what was wrong with master loot in a guild setting.
Did it lead to toxic behavior? I suppose the problem would fix itself by having players leave guilds who mishandle loot attribution, and guilds weeding out players who put their iIevel before the team.
I think some devs are way too eager to try and fix problems that don't really exist.

Comment by 1934948

No that was only Legion where they had the 'good' system, in WoD it was basically master loot everything including pugs (personal did exist but netted less loot or wasn't trade-able or some &*!@ which made it worse) which was hell for a number of reasons.

Comment by missy853

I'm curious how they went into debt with gold they didn't have, or maybe it's not being explained right. 50-100 million is a lot of gold. Is there a WoW gold credit card for the 1%?

Josh is amazing at the game, glad i found his channel on twitch :)

i personally hate "personal loot" it maybe good for SOME ppl but not for the majority. the bit i hate is that if you dont have the highest ilevel in that slot you CANT pass that item along if it drops no matter what the stats are on it (example i had a pair of gloves drop for my ele sham on raid night i had 375 equiped with my idea stats and the other gloves had mastery/vers and i wanted to pass it on but because i had ilevel 375 in that slot i couldnt) and that to me is total and utter bullsh*t. or another one is i looted a chest (i equiped it and did the traits in it) then i blew a coin and got the same chest (i couldnt pass it on cause i wasnt wearing the first chest before blowing the coin.
