I'd hazard a guess this was probably a bug that was either overlooked or de-prioritized due to some other random issue. There are plenty of other quest items in the game that are readable items without problems. It's disappointing seeing just how many problems the game still launched with.
The duality of WoW. We face extra planar demons that revel in mass genocide and torturing people's immortal souls forever, but can't examine too closily what this torture might look like or have enemies call us anything worse than "interloper".
Probably because they could get away with what they have done in the maw for the most part but the descriptions of toruture might be a bit too detailed for the younger audience. Also could be that they didn't want this sitting out there for the whole expansion to solidify people's hate for Sylvanas for what she did in BFA for when they pull her 'redemption' out of their ass at the end of the xpac.
*reads Test 2 and Test 3* Well uh... that escalated very quickly.
They have to get their T for teen rating. It can't be too violent. Most likely removed due to that.
Now I actually do remember that there were various Maw lore items on beta, not just this one. And the others were pretty normal, like there was one about how time flows differently or something. So I think it was a general decision to remove them for some reason, which is really sad. I hope we'll get to see those texts later at some point.
This should have stayed. Great flavor and adds credence to the actual severity of being imprisoned in the Maw.
