So the way to get the most out of Heirlooms is 1) Wait for Shadowlands prepatch... 2) Create a new character... 3) Do not play said character until Rested XP is capped.... 4) Play til run out of rest... 5) Forget about said character...Honestly Rested XP is not useful for most of the people playing with Heirlooms. In a world where non rested, non xp buffed characters are going 1-50 in less than 15 hours of play time, how is this useful for most players? Rested XP helped out back in the day where it would take you weeks to get to the level cap. Even when it took a week. Even now with the 100% xp buff we are looking at shorter level up times thanks to changes in questing structures, rebalancing of quest xp vs kill xp. Kill the Rested XP buffs and put buffs to make through put faster. Run Speed boosts on kill. Mana/HP regen on Kill... Proc based primary stat increases to make kills faster. Do not limit the buffs to improving Rested XP and increase Regen in the world. Improve our bottom line of being stronger so Heirlooms help with questing/killing speed or slow down questing/killing but bring back XP boosts to doing things slower.
I never used them for XZ anyway, just the stats. I like the 3 and 4 set bonus ideas a lot but the 4 set one seems a bit too strong, esp for PVP, since I prefer to lvl in BGs these days.
One thing I still wonder if we should stop pumping money into heirloom upgrades (60->90, 90->100, etc). Does anyone know if that system is removed or transformed/refunded?
So heirlooms are utterly useless now. If Blizzard doesn't give me the option to get all my gold back from upgrading them, I am 100% done with this game.
I like this, I think it's a reasonable compromise (maybe even a buff, considering leveling is going to be easier). But the 4 piece bonus seems really useless if you ask me. I think just make it a random proc and lower the amount and remove the "extend the buff" part and it would be better.
I have never posted but as somebody that frequently levels and quest as a free to play account (when I can't afford my sub) and Twinks in PvP, Here is my take on breathing some life into Heirlooms. So Rested XP as a mechanic is boring when you want to play right away (Also when it runs out) and "out-of-combat regeneration" has never been an issue while leveling for the last 3-4 expansions. It's somewhat intresting for PvP but there is a better way to implament healing. The point of Heirlooms in the begining was to "level faster" and if we can't increase the Base line experiance gain, then the other way can level faster, is to *be* faster. Movement speed, killing 'X' faster, and not dying will add up to a faster leveling experience and we can achive that in more intresting ways then just making something worth more XP.Enchanting is one of the minor fun things to do for heirlooms, because it's slightly inteactive and it's nice to see it proc. Also one of the more fun trinkets to use is Touch of the Void because it's interactive/on-use and its visuals. So based on what we have now and what i'd like to see for Heirlooms to make them more intresting is things like;*Weapons that have a "Chance on Hit/Cast" Proc*Necklaces that have a "When Struck Chance" Proc (Summons a Guardian?)*Rings that function like the Logic Loops and Bit Bands*Trinkets that fill in the "On use" Defensive/Offensive/Utility effect However, instead of just a flat increase, i'd want to see something like a Risk/Reward Berserk type buff like; "Increase Damage by X, but take Y more", "Restore X Health, but Reduce Healing effects on you by 90% for Y duration", and "Increase Movement Speed by X for 8 sec, but becomed Slowed by Y after for 4 sec"And for the Set Bonus*(2) Set: Passive Movement Speed Bonus (Stack with others effects)*(3) Set: Falling Below X% Heals for Y% (Has CD)*(4) Set: Interactive Chance on hit/cast Buff* Garrison Mage Tower Runes of Power Proc (Damage or Crit) (or like a Demon Hunters 'Demonic Appetite ' Talent, diffrence being standing still or gathering while moving)*(6) Set: Whenever you kill a target that yields experience or honor, Get (Leech, Haste, and/or Speed; Stacking) benafit For X durationI'd love feed back on this idea, I think it's a good blueprint that utilizes all the fun gear aspects, Is usable by all classes, would make heirlooms and leveling more fun and interactive to use and is to me even better then a flat XP buff.
I like it! Simple, yet effective. Nobody should be upset about these changes.
I'm not upset about the changes (mainly because I'd already come to grips with the fact that we're losing the bonus XP no matter what). But...they still blow.I'll probably get some use out of the rest XP bonus, but not much (and that only because I'm a compulsive altoholic so I can and do leave alts parked long enough to accrue rest), and the other two bonuses are pretty much useless except for that 1% of the time that I level in combat. (Which seriously almost never happens.)I've given it some thought over the past few hours, and decided that the people who sank countless amounts of time and gold and World Event currency into upgrading and buying multiple heirlooms should get something above and beyond these lackluster, situational bonuses...and no, I don't mean a refund.Everyone who has 30+ fully upgraded, unique heirlooms (of any type) should get an Heirloom Flight Master's Whistle that works anywhere (other than Shadowlands zones, obviously), at any level, with the standard 5min whistle CD.Everyone who has 40+ fully upgraded, unique heirlooms (of any type) should get a toy like the current ones that unlock some flight points, only it should unlock ALL flight points (again, obviously non-Shadowlands), usable by any level character.
Not sure why people are saying heirlooms are suddenly useless. They still increase in power as you level, making it easy to keep your character at the peak of power as you're leveling, without worrying about picking up new upgrades. That alone makes them worth the cost. The set bonuses are just gravy.
So this means, if you're playing you alts casualy, you still have a flat 50% XP boost. If you wanna powerlevel, you still have the advantage of gear that will level with you.Sounds fair to me.
Whiners, whiners everywhere. You've spent gold, GOLD, upgrading the heirlooms? If you were smart enough, and with an army of alts, you would just have done the first Timewalking dungeon when they came, on each toon, and with the TW Coin you'd buy, first, upgrades for each set of armors (1 for plate, mail, leather and cloth), and weapons and trinkets most of your characters would use, not ALL OF THEM, at the start. The other heirlooms you'd ugrade IF you so desired.I too have spent some gold here and there but I'm not joining you people constantly arguing about every damn change in the game, even good ones, as these are. Past is past. why ask for the gold spent, if people will still need to upgrade them still? Also they might put in better bonus to the sets, what then? What's done is done, get over it, move forward.
How are they useless? Any other gear you can get that level with your character and are essentially rare level dungeon gear that you wear all the way through your leveling experience? changing the leveling experience to one expansion also means you will be leveling in a handful of hours so the additional experience means nothing anymore, so these bonus' would actually more beneficial and more impactful than exp bonuses... so realistically youre just demanding your money back because you are... what... salty over nothing? complaining about things that arent issues?
The heirloom changes are underwhelming. I purchased heirlooms to make my leveling process faster. As it stands, I'll have to make an alt, plant it at an inn and not touch it for a week to get the benefit of the rested exp bonus. This doesn't sound very fast. The other bonuses are inconsequential. I have a big issue with the depreciation of the elixir of the rapid mind and elixir of ancient knowledge. I have 40 of the rapid minds and 5 of the knowledge, and now I'm going to have to rush to level alts with them before they become useless. you can't get them in game anymore, why not let them keep their value until they are used up? the Knowledge elixir is already BoA, make the Rapid Mind one BoA also to minimize AH costs.
