My sub isn't crossing over to Wowhead. Sad day. I shall wait for a response to my email!
I don't find the $29.99 a yr/$4.99 a mo issue a problem. I've subscribed to wow/Zams I the past and loved it. But money does get tight from time to time for me and I missed this yrs re-up. As soon as I can afforde it, I'll re-up. Some folks around here seem to be upset about this pricing, I know I don't know what $29.99 translates into in uros, or dong, or any other countrys currency. But it is reasionable here in the US of A. Y'all here at WoWHead are awsum people and really do put up with a whole lotta guff from people whom to me, aren't verry thankful for what thay have in this verry uesful resourceAnd the new features are awsum guys, admit it.
I'll stick with ad block plus and save the money.
Honestly what I really want is an android app for tablets or Phones. Some way to not need to toggle for info if needed. Also a smoother way to read the news from your site (rather then a browser style something more like feedly style) I would definitely pay for that. For Bonus Points some addon that usings QR Code or some simple look up system for anything with a link (quests or items, NPC's) that type of thing.
I didn't know there was a premium membership, shows how observant i am probably, but ive been playing WoW for many many years, and whenever im stuck, im off to 'WoWhead' it. There are lots of times i would have been really stuck without this site, so i think its about time i made a donation to say thanks. I'll try out this new membership next time i get paid, just as a thanks for always being there for me, and if im still playing WoW in a years time, i may even renew :)
Netflix has 75 million subscribers at $8/mo. I'd venture to say that their capital is substantially larger than Wowhead's... just saying. As for perks, I like perks, but the number of times a day I come to Wowhead, looking for, and finding, the information I need is pretty much immeasurable. The value is pretty much ineherent in the services offered already. Extras are just bonus. And yes, most of those can be had for free, but, despite not having a ton of disposal income either, I think, at the very least, it's worth spending $30/yr to say "Thanks, guys"..
I've used Wowhead since I was introduced to World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade. I was buying the game at GameStop and the strategy guide by BradyGames. The clerk advised me to not buy the strategy guild and gave me the URLs to two websites: wowhead.com and wowwiki.com =).I skipped the Warlords of Draenor expansion entirely. Since I've started Legion, I've been using Wowhead extensively to catch up on the many changes. Unfortunately I have noticed a significant deluge of ad lag, sounds, videos, and overall an unpleasant experience using the website. A few times a day, I even get ads that navigate away to scam-type sites that say my computer is infected, and they try to make it look that it's officially coming from Microsoft. These sites makes it very difficult to navigate away or close the tab. I don't use any ad-blocking software because I believe in right for websites to recoup their expenses for free services. But this sort of behavior makes Wowhead unusable and prompted me to look into paying for an add-free subscription.Even now, I can hardly type this because it is lagging so badly. Here is a screen shot of Chrome's task manager which illustrates the resource drain. I just now copy/pasted this text, closed this tab, and reopened it and now I can type just fine. One more thing I want to mention is that very often, it seems that pages on Wowhead reload themselves countless times, making navigating backwards an exercise in futility. Ok, so hopefully you have a clear picture of my experience. I love Wowhead enough that I will buy a 1-year subscription when I get my next paycheck. An interesting observation is that I assume most of the cost of the subscription supplants the lost ad revenue. If that's the case, you guys are making bank!
