Tried to use mine today on the lower mote in the inn, unequipped my shoulders to be sure to have more haste than crit by far, and got a training into Sleepy Ruby tho..
My findings up until now indicate the following:
Yeah, I'm going to hold off on rolling out the BiS parade. This seems awfully click-baity to me considering the only parse they link just happens to be one in which the trinket popped off with a ton of procs and crits.
I got a high 390 something version of this trinket the first week of the season and upgraded it the 2nd week to ilvl 411 thinking it was pretty good. Then it turned out to not be so good. Unknowingly I did the training to be 4 single target, 1 aoe, 1 crit.I main a prot warrior. Last night during heroic raz with the guild, I noticed that there were a few pulls where the single target proced about 10 times throughout the fight and it did 1.5m damage total which was about 8.5% of my total damage. Very very nice when it procs. However, only about 50% of the pulls did it seem to proc several times. The other 50% it only proc'd two or three times which is still okay damage being about 1 to 2% of my damage.I am going to continue to "train" the trinket purely into single target (6/6 training) as that is what my weakest damage profile is as prot warrior (in raid or m+). If the trinket will proc once or twice per minute purely in single target damage, imo it looks to be solid trinket.
Its ilvl 250. You can make ilvl 340 gear with professions under profession skill lvl 50 and if you cant make it you can buy it pretty cheap. Lets say professions dont exist. You outgear ilvl 250 without trying just by playing the game. So this trinket is just to have fun with screwing around correct?I cant see it being very useful for long, never mind spending time to train it.
Kudos to everyone who is contributing to writing the user's manual for this trinket. That being said, I think it's a shame that a user's manual is needed just to understand how to use a piece of gear in an optimal way.@EleriaSam: It can drop from M+ dungeons at a much higher item level, and can also be upgraded with valor points. See schizoidenmann's post above yours.
What is the "lower" mote of magical fire? i targeted it, used the trinket, and it didnt give me the haste training
I edited the article to reflect all the hard work all of the people who joined Bear Troupe did. We've abused the PTR for a while now ^_^We still have a couple of mysteries when it comes to the training (one potential bug on the cooldown of the trinket, one mystery regarding certain NPCs), and a lot of data gathering to do!
I think it would be valuable to update/clarify if the rppm rate is affected by haste. Apparently it is not (making sense given stat procs) but do we have an authoritative answer?
Thanks to everyone mentioned above for the effort they put in, Expected there was something more to this trinket. If the haste proc is as big as the crit. one this could be BIS for my tank (Paladin). Because I've already trained the fire nova I'll bump that up first.
Ah yes, Blizzard with their historically uncomplicated loot where an article is required to explain 1 trinket lol
I wish it were reliable. didn't notice it proc, so checked my details meter to see if it was set up properly, then next noticed it proccing when I did thrash and brutal slash for a while, so reset my details counters and did a proper 5 minute test, and it didn't proc once. It's just not good enough.
Thanks for the weakaura, just noticed i have 3 points in "Sleepy Ruby"... and i am holy paladin :DDon't know how you managed to find how this trinket works but GG guys !As a holy paladin what would you recommend ? At first i was thinking about the haste buff but after reading the article it seems like that if i max it i may from time to time have a crit buff so not good. So maybe max one healing spell ? So in the end it will always have a good outcome ?
I specialized one thing up to 6 and confirmed that the amount of buff was less than 5.I am using 415gear and received over 3000 crit buff in 5 stacks. But I'm only getting 2800 from 6 stacks.
Oh man I thing I screwed mine up already. As a tank, I want the haste buff, but I have a few points in other things. So if I understand correctly, if I keep training it in haste it will lose the other points eventually and I'll have 6 in haste? Also, is there a better training route as a tank? I figured haste would be best but I actually don't know.
