(If you look at the videos, the invis skip and then backtracking with bombs is in a +22, and the bombing of the Ickus trash is in a +28.) Yeah, you can use them, but they aren't necessary - you can time up to a 17-18 at least if not more without abusing the plagueborers.

This kind of trick requires coordination, good DPS that have enough of a clue to move out of the bombs and can pull the plagueborers past Virulax without aggroing Virulax himself, and at least one poison dispel in the group (else your tank is not going to be moving fast enough to move out of the bombs either). I wouldn't want to try it in a random mid-level clueless PUG.

Now everyone has to trip over themselves to learn the combo the players pushing +20s are doing. Why?
Because if you don't shut up and do what you're told, you're being selfish and playing incorrectly.
Do the combo, play the class/spec/covenant the "influencers" tell you or YOU ARE WRONG!
