Greater Rifts Are Coming To Diablo 4 - Abattoir of Zir Explained

Posted 2023/11/04 at 8:22 PM by Tharid

As shown in the screenshot below, players will have 10 minutes to kill enough monsters to spawn and defeat the boss - just like Greater Rifts in Diablo 3.

Players can only enter the Abattoir of Zir if they have completed the Season Journey.

After completing the Season Journey, players will be given a recipe to craft a Bloodforged Sigil (Tier 1) at the Occultist.

Once players complete a tier, they will be able to craft the sigil for the next tier, up to Tier 25.

The location of the portal to the Abattoir is in Ked Bardu.

Completing your first Abattoir of Zir will reward you with the Tears of Blood Unique Paragon Glyph.

Tears of Blood will allegedly level up to Level 210, being "ten times stronger" than normal Paragon Glyphs.

The Abattoir of Zir will be available for six weeks, starting on December 5 until the end of Season 2.

All content shown regarding the Abattoir of Zir is a work in progress according to Blizzard, so things might change in the near future!

"Oh, an actual new endgame activity that doesn't seem like a chore. This could actually..."

"You have to complete the season to play it."

"Well, never mind."

Season Journey isn't that hard to complete. I gotcit done in a week

If you don't unlock this after the season story quests then it's a dead system, might add well not bother. More horizontal endgame options should be added, tying it to the end of the season journey is far too deep for 99% of players.

Again we'll have to wait until s4/s5 to get it done properly, the usual Blizzard development style.

D4 still dog%^&* maybe after the first expansion...

A week of "playing" this garbage game in the hopes that the garbage will stink a little less is hardly an appealing prospect, especially considering that the content-devoid endgame starts at like level 35~40 because Blizzard did such a terrible job aligning content and levelling speed.

I can tell right away that you didn't play season 2 at all and are commenting on stuff that you have no idea. Yeah season 1 was boring and there was nothing to do but season 2 is actually &*!@ing amazing and lots of fun. Leveling is 40% faster than it used to be in S1 so you can get to lvl 50 in like 5 hours playing. Farming the new bosses for the unique items is fun and the blood harvest zone is awesome. Maybe try to play the game before saying bull%^&* like this. Personally i quit Season 1 at around lvl 50 but in Season 2 im playing casually and are lvl 87 and still having a blast.

If they mean the first 4 chapters i’m with you. If they intend the last 3 chapters also, as of now this is not casual friendly in the slightest, especially because of the huge time 1-100. Yes, they nerfed it but the 50-100 part still takes too long, I did 1-50 in 15 hours and now I’ll probably take other 15 to do only the 50-70 part (i’m 66 after 26 hours total). Basically unless you close yourself in Domhaine tunnels for the first 70 levels, 1-100 will still be around 50 hours. That’s half of S1, I agree, but still too much time, especially the 50-100 part.

"Yes, launch was garbage, and season 1 was garbage, but why aren't you still playing? You owe <BRAND> your time and money! <BRAND> loves us and cares about us, precious! We're so lucky that <BRAND> deigns to allow us to partake of their garbage! We're so unworthy of <BRAND>!"

lol no. Don't you have some Last Jedi Funko Pops to go hold and cry over? "Amazing" just tells me that you have low to non-existent standards, which then makes your assessment of anything else suspect. If D4 caused you actual amazement, that tells me you've never actually played any of the other far better games in this genre. Just for modern ones go play PoE or Last Epoch and then come back and tell us D4 is still overwhelming your mind.

The journey is easy but it’s too time consuming.

1-100 is still about 50 hours for casual players, that’s way too much.

I am happy they are adding endgame content because we don’t have any at the moment, but if people will see it takes to much to partake in it, they’ll give up for sure.

Nice to hear, care to share the knowledge for chapter 3 "Potent Vows" and chapter 4 "In Agreement" please? Tried everything to no avail. No chest or gloves will help for that. Tried with yellows and legendaries, with rares, sacred and ancestral, added pacts then wiped everything and added them again, mixed pacts then tried with 5 of same kind. Nothing helped. Any idea?

This !

Doesn't really matter if season journeys are easy or not. Gated content is meh - especially as the game starves on content.

Season 1 was meh - Season 2 is okay and fun for about a week if u really go and want to squeeze out everything. The QoL improvements are good as well. But Diablo4 is still pretty hollow. It still lacks a lot of QoL features, it still has bad itemization, still no real content, still offers no reasons for grind, still has not much interesting unique modifiers which alter gameplay instead of just giving damage increases. The open world feels bland and meaningless and player interaction is basically non existant... And new "greater rifts" and some new unique rings won't make this game competitive on the market.

They started to work on the game - that's great. But the journey just started and will take much much longer.

I never thought I'd see the day when people are excited for greater rifts. Really ? D4 racing game ? That was fun content for you? Well. I lost. This game is not for D1-D2 fans. Not for me. I admit it. We will never get games with the same designs. It'll be run, explode, salvage, repeat, try to beat your lap time. It's just a shame they took the name '' Diablo ''. And now it has nothing to do with those games. And we wanted so very much to have a good sequel. Never got it.
