The fact that the daredevil option remains makes me happy. I recognized Engineering's abysmal and pathetic value from the start, so I beelined for this when we got the expansion. I don't use the specific teleport that often, since I only ever use it to go to a random mining spot, but still.
The fact that you have to spend so many points and go around the world for a 1h choose a zone teleport is so dumb. Especially after playing with a whole expansion of 15m choose where you want by default wormhole. I had high hope they were making engineering better after Shadowlands had an awesome wormhole. I guess Engineering will never change too much. The old MoP and before stuff will remain the best stuff it has to offer.
I generally take up engineering on all my characters, in large part for all the wormholes. So much for alt friendly, because now if I want this on my alts, I have to grind out the same engineering knowledge and then activate these same points over and over and over again. Typical blizzard to take what used tobe a nice profession perk, basically nerf it, put the full version behind a non-account-wide grind, and turn it into an unfun chore.
Its not really worth it this expac, especially when you can fly at 1000% speed. The wymrhole puts you in a random spot in the zone and its almost never where you actually want to be (using it to get to feast it almost always puts me on the far right side of azure span)
Pretty bummed with how mediocre the wormhole is in this expansion. After all this, you get to specify the zone, and that's it. You're randomly plopped down in that zone. Considering how massive the zones are, sometimes you're just as likely to end up further from your destination than when you started.
If you're a gear crafting engineer, you probably will (and should) still max this tree. Everyone looks and this tree and thinks it's the meme/toys tree and that engineering sucks because you need to put in a bunch of points to get the toys and better wormhole, but each point gives you 1% bonus skill from inspiration. Most other professions have an inspiration tree that gives this kind of bonus as nodes, with engineering, you get the bonus AND you get some toys.
Blizzard, you $%^&*!@s. Now give us the Shakespearian speaking npc that will prompt us to make that return and you guys will have gone full meta.
The cooldown reduction to one hour also hardly ever works. I've got all the necessary points to make it a 1 hour cooldown, yet I would say that 90% of the time I use it, it still has a 2 hour cooldown. As others have mentioned, just flying to where you want to go on your dragon seems to be a better option. This thing is pretty much useless this expansion.
oh god...this triggered my final fantasy 14 PTSD....
This is fantastic, but the Engineering tree still needs a rework. We really got the short end of the stick this expansion, with all these "fun" mechanics of tinkers/bombs/gadgets blowing up most of the time and not working properly...This makes me ashamed of being an Engineer, literally any other profession seems better... Iit's been getting worse for a while now, to the point of Engi looking like a meme profession in the current expansion. Is always cutting gems perfectly and forging weapons/ armor correctly on the first try befitting of the "profession fantasy"?Maybe Lariat should stun you for 6 seconds every other proc? After all, you're harnessing the unstable power of the elements.Maybe armor can be forged as "impure" and randomly lose durability in combat? After all, its new metals you're working with. Why we, the Engineers, have to suffer the hardships of failure on behalf of all creation?I looked in the eyes of Aman'thul, and I wept.By his wisdom, may my bombs not blow up in my face (this time).
i really gotta say, screw blizzard for not allowing any methods of respecing your professions. even if it's just once. i dont have the time or patience to read up on all this BS so it's extremely annoying these losers didnt add a respec option of some kind.
I'm just annoyed that I specced into 50% reduced cooldown and 90% of the time, it still puts the cooldown at 2 hours. -.-Also, we "Triangulate" the zones - yet instead of putting us in a specific spot in the zone - which SHOULD happen with triangulation, it's still a random spot in said zone.
Engineering looks interesting, but does it make gold with anything?
blizz killed engineeringthat is all
"Pray Return to the waking shores" HAHAHA I understood that reference...
So it still puts you in one of 3 random locations in the zone? The article could have specified this better. They should let us specify exactly which location since the zones are so big.The 2hr/1hr cooldown is also so sad. Why couldn't they keep it at 15min?Hoping they change these things in a future patch. They seem to be more responsive to stuff like this lately.
i feel like they'll change this to make it alt friendly. maybe it honestly never occurred to them how bad this would be.
Good to know. I landed near one of these things and wondered what it was for.
I'm glad that there are better engineers here because I've only done Northrend Engineering on an alt. That and the article makes it seem like all you have to do is find 12 spots and you make travel easier. However, that seems to not be the case. And I would be rather concerned, if they can reexamine all those Tailoring bans in general then decide that this profession is the only one that can malfunction.
