Oh joy. Soaks on Sire Denathrius.
After three weeks, I can confidently say I am not of a fan of the dispel+soak affix. It's just not enjoyable to re-learn how to time the dispels and resulting soaks in mythic encounters on a weekly basis, especially with the seemingly custom, per-boss timings for each fight.
The dispel affix needs to either be removed or changed. It's not fun nor a good affix. Not only can a bad dispel cause a wipe but it also can alter the way mechanics are approached.
Now that rotating affixes per-boss each time the raid is up on the table, I hope y'all are ready for us inevitably getting dispels on Painsmith sooner or later. If you think the dispel affix is by far the worst one (and it absolutely is), wait until you see the level of rage-inducing madness that'll ensue when that affix rears its ugly head on a fight where failing to abide by extremely precise positioning results in you getting absolutely demolished.
Oh heck... they swap? I wasn't prepared for this. The soak affix was already the most troublesome as it introduced some nasty overlap timings on some of the fights through this first rotation. After spending time nailing down timings during the last set... now it's been moved to different bosses. I don't find that fun. I really don't.
Not gonna say I told you so but the fated affix concept to me implied this. Aside the obvious lack of granular info directly from blizz on m+ bounty statvnumbers and even the fated affixes almost entirely, they never once implied that like painsmith (or any boss) would be statically modified if fated. Which to me felt like it would change. Now the question is (and knowing blizz likely not), given that we can right now turn off fated via the console at raid entrances. Could we selectively pick which affix we want per boss when all raids go fated for a bit (with us still likely being able to turn off fated then too)? Again likely not cause that’s like picking affixes for keystones.
Iilling the motes gets < Typo should be Killing the motes
Im confused, Is the point of affixes not to be fun but to change the raid and add a layer of difficulty with a reward for succeeding? i think they achieve that quite well, i found it rather interesting how the dispel+soak changed the timings for jailer in a interesting way though it may have been due to spaghetti code, personally i like them even in unfavorable fights
Fated raids is failed experiment. Just scrap it or nerf affixes to the ground. Bosses without those pointless affixes will be much more enjoyable. Having to re-progress already killed bosses is not fun. We have wasted like 3 hours on Lihuvim mythic yesterday just to learn how to deal with so many soaks on pull (boss applies like 4 debuffs at once really?)...
Oh boy, so these things are going to change every week...Man, Mythic raiding is already bad as it is. I hope affix for raids is scrapped for Dragonflight. Having to progress on Mythic bosses every week is not fun.
These affixes are just kinda lame. They either don't do much or just end up being a pain in the ass. I'm not against the idea of fated raids, it's certainly better than 3+ months of sepulcher again, but if we see them done in the future I really hope the affixes are made more interesting than "interact/hit thing, keep hitting it until it dies". .
soaks wouldnt be so bad if they flexed to raid size on heroic, but smaller groups are severely punished by the soak affix with the same amount of absorb circles as a 30 man heroic.
The affix make some fights even easier
This week's we don't have any world boss that drops fated 285 loot? 😌
