This is pretty much following the usual trend of: 1. Blizz takes 100% of Thing away2. Outcry happens. 3. They give 10% of Thing back. 4. People rejoice "because they listened". I don't really care for any of these emotes (in OP specifically), it's all just kinda weird to me.
I'm surprised they haven't added a full set of clothing for a character wearing no items yet... Naked male and female avatars are too revealing
I just... really hope they at least replace the jokes/flirts with something, if they really have to remove them. Like... dwarf females are losing four out of six of their jokes. They'll have two left. Two! Come on.
everyone's talking about the /silly and /flirt being removed but where does it say that
if someone is That offended by flirts and jokes that they personally dont find funny and somehow triggered by them... there's been an option for a while... system > sound > emote sounds. turn it off, dont demand everyone else cater to your..whatever..sensitivities....
Emotes that trigger certain people have received attention almost immediately following the cube crawler fiesta. Broken Shadowlands systems that were pointed out in the Alpha, Beta, and subsequent release of Shadowlands have either existed for almost a year or they're still not even being addressed. Cannot wait for this game to go under because these devs don't even deserve the work experience they're going to put on their Linkedin after running this game into the ground. This game has been carried on the backs of people who haven't worked at Blizzard for nearly a decade.
Haha. They kept moon. That's funny(!).......
The sad irony is, whether you're doing "Jones lets out a whistle toward Jean" or "Jones lets out a wolf whistle", either way, Jean still heard/seen it. So, they're not really "fixing" anything. Effectively, nothing is changing. This is, as others have said, an attempt to make people think "see, we're fixing things!" It's nothing but putting up a fake posture. Also, it will still be "offensive" to some, whether you're seeing "Jones drops his drawers and moons Jean" or "Jones drops his drawers and moons everyone".The people they're trying to satisfy will Never Be Happy. They'll Want More and More removed until you see "because of issues with the community, we are now removing references to The Light, because it is seen as offensive by some."And considering how much The Light is part of CLASSES and LORE, removing all references would have new players going "this makes no sense!"
Very misleading wowhead, they were not re-added, they were replaced.
This is exactly what they said they would do. You can no longer /cough or /fart etc on other players but you can still use the emotes. They were never going to be completely removed.
Ok .... maybe its because i'm not living in the US but can someone explain to me why people become so brittle and strat crying for everything they found offensive?
I actually like this change, I got harassed more than enough, by players I don't know and never interacted with, who thought that was funny. Well, funny is very subjective. What I find funny, some of these players would consider deadly. Would that go too far? Hm, I'm not getting hurt so I'd say no. But I would take other actions if I were at Blizzard. I would add the option for players to phase out other players, pretty much make them invisible for oneself. Poof... gone, like obliterated. Maybe even add a spell effect on that. Doesn't affect game play, the game server just doesn't update opposed players anymore. Each party can freely continue, just wont see each other anymore.I would also change the emote system that such offensive emotes, and that are offensive emotes, no matter what excuse some toxic players come up with, can only be used on players that are on the friends list. Or in a group. If not, that's a strike. 3 strikes and the account has a 24h cooldown period. It's funny. Have someone's account blocked for 24h for using such emote, I find that hilarious. "I only use such emotes on my GF"... I see... does she know she's your GF? Or did you just declare a random female character as your GF? That in-game delusion goes far. If you don't use such emotes, you're not affected in any way.At least blocks are now permanent and don't expire after 24 hours anymore. Also a change many toxic players rant about. Life is unfair, I know. You can't harass people in the real world, and now you can't even do that in your favorite game. "But it's just fun. Chill." And it is, now it's our turn to have fun that you toxic players can't communicate with us anymore. It's super fun. So, chill yourself.
Well said, well said indeed. Jokes what they are & none of the ones that got removed are harmful when have right mindset =) Sadly ActiBlizz has gone full steam ahead & prob. won't end here. Totally agree that none of these reverts were because of us normal gamers voicing our complaints for these dumb moves.
