"8 hours a day for the past month and a half"... why?
"people actually using the system love it!" i call fake news. pretty much no one likes this system except the 1-3 crafters for each profession who highrolled the plans for BiS items. idc how much you interact with JC, it feels like ass to not make 45m in a week because you never got the lariat recipe, despite farming storms with an entire guilds every time they were up. im sure a reply is "just buy it off the AH 5head." yeah sure, the ONE that got put up for goldcap and sold in 2 minutes i totally could of snagged. This system is fine if you got lucky early. Its ok if you did a lot of research from pre-patch about what would be bis. but as an actual profession system, it is simply ass.
This took probably like 8 hours a day for the past month and a halfI'm gonna have to stop you right there dog.
"Won't lie not a fan. Up front I was interested - but i've lost all motivation for it.I'm mainly a PvP player - its really all I've played for for years. However in SLS3 I really dove down the crafting rabbit hole with JC/Ench and managed to do fairly well. In a relatively short time frame, I was able to profit about 2.5m which was the most gold I've ever had. I was having a blast. I found myself logging in just to check my mail and get new listings rolling if even if it was for 15 minutes. When the expansion dropped, I was pumped to get in on the crafting early. I'll admit I probably didn't do enough research to know exactly where to go with my KP but I figured I had a decent plan. I played a bit of beta, watched some videos. Had the gist of it. Feel like I pretty quickly got behind on KP though because I'm not a huge fan of all the nonsense PvE grind i needed to do to get recipes and more KPs. I just want to log in, que up and craft. That being said, I did do some grind. I got to the point I could craft wafting devotion 3 stars with insp procs. Prices were still fairly high at this point. I had 25% inspiration at the time (know it could have been better) so i bought enough mats to craft 5. not one proc. I know thats not an insane chance. I get it. But I really don't think I enjoy that profit margins are entirely based on RNG - regardless if its inspiration/multicraft/resourcefulness.I dunno, just after that I really kinda gave up on trying to get KPs and crafting. Even for JC now, going through the gems I can craft even the 3 star ones - mats cost like 980 and the gem sells for 1000. Whats the point? At this point all of my alts are just gathering professions and i have them run loops while waiting for que's."This is me.The idea is interesting but being stuck behind so much grind to be able to make anything profitable is just bleh.
I honestly see the fact that there is no catch up as a little perk to people who are dedicated to playing their professions throughout the expansion. The people who are only starting to catch up now are -let's be honest- not going to be engaging with it as heavily anyway in the majority of cases. Kind of similar to how we now have expansion meta achievements and timegated M+ titles and even the Trading Post now. It is like a loyalty program for people who consistently play the game and engage with the content Blizzard puts out.
You don't need a catch-up mechanic... that's nonsense spouted by the lazy. I started a LW ~3 weeks ago, and have Leatherworking Discipline at 20/30, mail armor capped out, boots capped out, Primordial LW at 10/35 and intricate mail at 11/30. It doesn't take that long, and this was all done on an alt I don't play that much. You have the weeklies, the freebie one-time KPs from the masters and items around the world, the dirt farming, etc. You don't need a catch-up mechanic, you need to put in the work.
As a returning player after 18months out, I'm finding crafting a real chore. I used to love profs (and I'm still loving doing old world crafting) but this feels like a job.My main prof has been Alchemy for ages, and the lack of weekly orders quest and the RNG for recipes is really annoying.I'm hoping to fall more in love with the system as I get used to it, but it has been a disappointment so far.Gathering has taken some getting used to with dragonriding instead of druid flight form, but it feels like I'm more engaged with it. So that's good :)
The new system just rewards the worst people in the game, the ones who play primarily for Gold. They sit all day in Trade or in front of the Tables. Even spamming other players.I've never understood why Blizzard doesn't discourage these types of players and here they are rewarding them and even encouraging them to be worse. They pay people to level alts, etc. It's nuts, who plays a video game for imaginary gold?I actually enjoyed the new profession system at first. But eventually you find out it's a gold sink unless you're willing to sit in trade for most of the day and I'd much rather go out and play the game.Blizz tried to fix some of this by limiting public orders to 4 (in the recent patch) but the damage had been done.
coming from the worst ever legendary system in SL, at least this new crafting and AH is a new original system more balancedbut such PITA...
Extremely adult-unfriendly mechanic that forces you to farm or fall miles behind.Partially what made me lose interest and take a break from the game.
