Magmadar, a boss in Molten Core, is one of the most famous core hounds and also one of the earliest bosses in WoW.

A notable trash mob in Molten Core, Ancient Core Hound, is also a popular Hunter Pet tame...and led to cries of "loot the hounds!" so skinners could acquire Core Leather for fire resistance gear.

For completing the 10th anniversary version of Molten Core, players were awarded Core Hound Chain.

The Dark Iron Core Hound sets itself apart by having one head, not two.

Dark Iron Dwarf Race

This Alliance race can play Hunter, Mage, Monk, Paladin, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock, and Warrior. The Dark Iron Shamans come with totems resembling anvils!

The racials are:
Dungeon Delver: While indoors, move 4% faster.

Fireblood: Removes all poison, disease, curse, magic, and bleed effects and increases your primary stat by 100 for each effect removed. Lasts 8 sec. 2 min cooldown.

Forged in Flames: Reduces damage taken from Physical attacks by 1%.

Mole Machine: While outdoors, summon a Mole Machine that tunnels through the earth. 30 min cooldown.

Mass Production: Items crafted by Blacksmithing are created twice as quickly.

The (potentially vicious) demon hound mounts just look like they've had far more effort and time put in to their designs though.
