Creation Catalyst Plans for Dragonflight - Possibly Continued On With Professions

Dragonflight Developer Roundtable with Ion Hazzikostas and Steve DanuserTaliesin & EvitelTaliesin: Is there any kind of systems you thought really worked in Shadowlands that you want to move over into Dragonflight? People are thinking like, the Creation Catalyst, stuff like that.

Ion: I think (the Creation Catalyst) that's one of them, although I think we probably don't want to get into the habit of having to reinvent a new "foozle" in every zone with some, you know, magical currency that's there just to craft tier sets or whatever from that tier.
We're still figuring out exactly how this will work but I think that professions are actually probably a really good long term home for that sort of device. Where, you know, over the course of a tier, after the first few weeks of collecting and, you know, long term. But what if you could take your Plate Helm that you earned from that raid or M+ dungeon and take it to a skilled Blacksmith with a reagent who can then make that into a set helm? That's the sort of thing we'd love to carry forward.
I think making tier sets accessible to a variety of playstyles and also having, you know, as we mentioned earlier, kinda preplanning that kind of catch-up mechanics/RNG backstop that can come into play partway through the tier, that's something we're really happy with.Wowhead Discord WebhookDiscord ServerTwitterFacebook

The bad thing is that we had to wait TWO MONTHS after the release of the raid before accessing it. Two months in which half of our raid already got 4 set pieces, the other half got nothing.

Things like the catalyst could easily be solved if they weren't so stubborn. Increase loot levels back to what they were when people enjoyed the game, and/or allow tokens to be traded.

If the catalyst comes too early, you lose a lot of incentive to even run any content to get the loot. Crafters are going to have a "Work Order" system alongside the Auction House.

A player has their materials for something, posts a bill, with said materials, and a service fee. A crafter accepts it, makes it (even BoP items), and it gets sent to the bill owner, and the crafter makes their commission.

"There will be an NPC that will act as a sort of Auction House for Crafting Orders, and you will be able to specify whether this is a public order (anyone with that profession can choose to create it for you), whether this request is only for people in your guild, or direct to a specific player. As a crafter, you can see what items players are asking for and decide for yourself which commissions you wish to fulfill."Comment by WolfrickThis sounds like a great idea, we should try to give Professions more important stuff that would creat more interaction between players :)

Just like in vanilla where different professions needed eachother for things, this will also push the worth behind having a profession or knowing people that are got at their professions ^^

Being able to change the appearance of an item so it matches your tier set is fantastic.
