that is tough . . . thanks for standing up , i hope blizzard changes that horrible system
Good on him AND the other managers that were willing to take the hit in place of their employees. Everything Brian said about work and being a boss is TRUE. Blizzard's way of doing things is archaic and never worked in the first place; instead of causing the excellence they claim to, it does quite the opposite. Shame on them.
You aren't reading out a real curve if you are forcing it.
Sounds like they are unable to quantify what makes good performance so they have to compare relatively. Ridiculous.
It amazes me that companies still attempt to paint this as some sort of motivational technique to boost performance when it has been proven many times over to create toxic workplaces where people actively sabotage others' work just to avoid being the one at the low end of the curve. It took Microsoft 2 years to figure out that it was a dumb policy and Yahoo stretched it out to 3. How long with it take Blizzard?
Good for him speaking out, even though it cost him a job that he loves. This is a total BS system. To conclude one employee must be bad because another is good is a major fallacy.
Tell him to go work for Ashes of Creation. lol
