ArtStation Magazine recently published another
Art Blast
, this time focused on the visuals for Dragonflight. The piece featured selections of the work of many Blizzard artists focusing on their particular specialty. The art departments at Blizzard consistently knock the ball out of the park with their work - we are going to feature a few of these artists and spotlight what they made for Dragonflight.
Casey Graham is a UI Artist at Blizzard who worked on the new HUD in Dragonflight. The new UI elements really modernize the interface while keeping to the World of Warcraft feel. Check out each of these individual pieces that go towards creating our new window into Azeroth.

So the person who literally designed and produced the UI elements that a great percentage of people hate bears no responsibility? They're ugly. They look like they're out of a mobile game. They don't fit the game's aesthetic. That's 100% on him, as the artist who created them. That's like saying the chef that cooks the bad meal isn't at fault.
You are entitled to your opinion, I clearly stated that I was sharing my opinion, I mentioned that I personally like the look of the UI, and pointed out a change that is needed.
A lot of the complaints on here are regarding the implementation of the Edit Mode etc. which have nothing to do with the Art of the UI, and therefore, are not the responsibility of the artist.
you don't like the look of the artwork, that's fine.
And you're entitled to your opinion. But you also gave the artist a pass on his work. And no, not all complaints are about Edit Mode. You're selectively reading comments if you think that. The cheap and un-WarCraft look has been mentioned multiple times in these comments, and countless times elsewhere. The design features some truly awful decisions. Micro bar being microsized and legibility went into the toilet, dungeon/raid difficulty level being white text on a white skull on a white background (WTF?), Minimap oversized and information shrunk down, which is a common theme with this UI, which make the mail icon extremely missable. The clock almost doesn't exist it's so tiny and out of place, the LFG eye is ridiculously oversized, the other icons that surround the minimap are atrocious (I didn't even realize the tracking icon was a pair of binoculars. It looks like screwed-up scrolls.)
Inventory slots were redone to highlight the interior texture which makes them look full rather than empty, the group leader icon looks like a goofy golf flag. There's so many terrible, BASIC UI/UX errors here it smacks of the artist being hired as an artist only and with no actual UI/UX design knowledge.
NONE of that has anything to do with the Edit Mode. Literally the only three things that I find non-objectionable are the new cast bar, gryphons, and the Evoker class symbol. Everything else is just flash over functionality and doesn't fit the WarCraft visual language at all.

The new UI is an utter dumpster fire. 100% flash over form and functionality. ...
And with the exception of the gryphons, the new UI doesn't look "WarCraft" at all.
I've gotten use to it, after setting the UI 30+ times because somehow no two druids animal form bar are aligned, even if I use the same damn layout. My beef now is that the gryphons are either on or off instead of allowing me to move them individually where ever I so choice. Maybe I want the longest bar with grypons on both ends Blizzard did you ever think of that? Do you even care?
Also I will never like the star as an indicator of special elites, almost 20 years and suddenly on a dragon expansion they decided that needed to change?
