Is it too much to ask to simply change the rewards from junk to useful items? pots, gear, mats?
This is disappointing, I really like Archeology.
I don't think it is valid to compare a secondary profession to expansion features such as garrisons and class halls. Harrison Jones in WoD is a good example of how you can add a new fun side component to a secondary profession. It sounds like they need someone imaginative to work on adding archaeology into expansions. Perhaps just have a secondary profession small developer group to add in cooking, fishing, and archaeology fun for expansions. I didn't notice anything really exciting about secondary professions in BfA.I go through the main adventure quest lines and stories but often it is the secondary professions and the battlepet minigame that keep me from getting bored once the main story is completed and you are left with the repeating grind.
Why not add new archeology stuff in the older zones for other races not yet included? Who cares if its not in the new zones, as long as we get new stuff to uncover.
Don't make excuses that insult our intelligence, just admit that you're not iterating on or updating archaeology for whatever reason, whether it's metrics that a very low population of the player-base actually does it, or you're just outright lazy. Just don't make up some silly BS about how or why it's no longer relevant to the current content. Not trying to justify something is way better than fabricating a stupid justification.
With nothing added during content patches, and essentially no changes to the rewards, it's barely been receiving updates for years.
ActiBlizz has no problem dropping support for things people don't have much interest in yet we're on our third expansion of this borrowed power garbage.
i often get the feeling blizzard has a very begrudging attitude towards wow and they would rather be developing another game but because wow is still their money maker they are forced to keep making expansions. We have 4 different covenants, that would be perfect to have archaeology to learn more on each faction, just add it maybe 2 or 3 toys for each faction. You could even just add in a recoloring of the faction armor set as the reward. They would take minimal effort to design it, yet it seems like blizzard couldn't even be bothered to. what's next, fishing isn't super popular either, do we get rid of that
I really forgot all about archaeology. It was fun-ish for MoP and WoD, but changes in legion kinda dulled it for me (outside of getting echero) and I haven't touched it at all in BfA. Lets face it...it has just been a time sink, and with a game that has tons of time sinks as is, it just is taking back seat finally
Tom Chiltons reasoning behind wishing to have temporary features like the garrison just shows that those features arent good to begin with if they feel like they only want them in the game temporarily. Obviously Archaeology isn't viewed as a good feature by the devs, and it goes to show, since they wish it was something temporary. They shouldn't be adding these at all if they know theyre not good.
People would actually do and enjoy archaeology if it wasn't so damn dull and grindy.
They keep piling more reasons to stop playing. I am really ticked at the nerfing of fun game play. Let's force me to keep clicking on every quest giver just to read the rest of the quest. Now Arch is gone. WOW is definitely going down the tubes.
Those who don't remember their past, HAVE no future.
