Sooooo let me get this straight. If a neutral party causes an entire city-state to be wiped off the map its fine.If a different neutral party in PARTIAL retaliation offs a handful civvies that MAY or MAY NOT be guilty and exiles the rest its THE WORST THING EVER.Just checking. Shades of grey after all.
Even if the factions arent in open war, it's way more interesting when things are frosty and tense.I don't see how Aethas can forgive Jaina for the Purge tho. Nbd I guess.
This is a nice lore ridbit, weird it took him like 8 years to want to bridge the gap, and that the explanation tries to equally fault Jaina for her restrained and valid response, especially considering what led to her eviction of the horde from dalaran, and that time dalaran almost plummeted to the ground because aethas kinda didn't want to tell anyone some of his mages may have been replaced with demons in legion. Also fun fact about the purge of dalaran, 5 people dies, so people need to stop accusing jaina of genocide there because the horde killed more people in that storyline than died in dalarn.....
Look at all these clueless people that know nothing of the story defending yet another of the horde's many, many atrocities. You'd think they would learn eventually
Aethas is such a coward and a traitor. Jaina massacred his people and he's practically worshipping her for it. That Magister that tried to assassinate her in BfA should be in charge, not him.
Aethas: "I'm looking for a peace offering for Lady Proudmoore."Zen'kala: "Didn't she do ethnic cleansing on your people?"Aethas: "Ever since Sylvanas left, those people in blue robes have said we're not allowed to bring up Alliance crimes. Ever. You should see Baine trying to dance around that burned village, or the Forsaken trying to dance around that assassination."
Lots of people talking about Jaina committing genocide here... what? The Sunreavers were allies of the Kirin Tor, which was a neutral faction at that time. Some of the Sunreavers broke that neutrality to help Garrosh in his conquest of Pandaria. Jaina, after the events of Theramore, was outraged that allies of her own faction helped the genocidal maniac that wiped her city from the world. As leader of Dalaran, she expelled them from it. She told them to leave as they were not welcome anymore. I agree that she went too far by killing the ones who refused to leave, but she had complete authority over that city and the Sunreavers broke the trust between their two factions. They should have left when she ordered them to. At this point, staying was almost similar to occupying enemy territory, as Jaina pledged the Kirin Tor to the alliance following those events. It returned to being Neutral only when Khadgar took over it in Legion after Jaina refused to cooperate with the Horde.I agree she went a little too far but calling that a genocide is just ridiculous.
Way I see it there was fault on both sides but as a Horde player we kinda helped wiped Theromore off the map though Aethas wasnt directly involve its just he was betrayed by one of his members while I believe he was afraid of Garrosh harming the elves, Jaina was at fault cause she not only locked innocent elves up but she n her ppl went on a killing spree an at one point wanted to wipe out Org innocent n guilty ppl alike which she didn't care, on the other hand we did see how some of the elves still hate her for the love ones they lost in her purge, so I can understand what the comments saying for both side in which my opinion is as a Hordie always remember no matter what we will always be the bad guys in Ally players/npc for any past deeds as such you will be reminded daily even if fault is shared between both factions.
Aethas and the Sunreavers are partially responsible of the destruction of Theramore (or at least one of them, even if Aethas argue that he was not aware of this) , which also led to the loss of many lives, like Rhonin or Jaina's assistant. And after this, Sunreavers betrayed her and the Kirin tor once more, stealing the bell, and Anduin was almost killed during this chapter of MoP.So yep, many Sunreavers were innocent and didn't deserved to be killed, but you can't say that Jaina went mad for nothing. That's clearly wrong.
Jaina annoys me to no end, and I would have liked her story to end in BFA; however, I will say that I think it's nice seeing Aethas genuinely try to find something meaningful to restore some semblance of peace. Doesn't fix Jaina's...well that word would get banned here but everyone knows what she did in Dal, lol. This is better than the forced forgiveness that's usually put on the alliance, at least (because horde are always the bad guys in the end for whatever reason).
Aethas knew that Sunreaver agents stole the Divine Bell and chose not to say anything, after a Sunreaver agent created the mana bomb that destroyed Theramore. There was more than enough reason to expel them from Dalaran. Random innocents should not have been killed, but people here talking like Aethas and the Sunreavers are these totally innocent people who were horribly wronged are weird. The Sunreavers betrayed their neutrality and their alliance with the Kirin Tor.
Okay, not only should she not accept it, because she's still upset, but he shouldn't be offering it, because she got her revenge. Why stir that pot? Maybe he just wants to carry it on him just in case he runs across her again in passing so it can be used as a distraction.
exalted. the word is exalted. it's exhausting to keep seeing that misspelling. otherwise, good writeup =)
People should really look up the word "genocide".The Sunreavers were a paramilitary faction associated with the Horde, not an ethnic group. Jaina never says "all the blood elves have to leave", and we know at least one blood elf stayed after the Sunreavers were expelled. The Sunreavers were not "ethnically cleansed". Their members conspired to help Garrosh acquire and use WMDs (wtice), and as a result, they were exiled. Those who refused this order were detained as enemies, and those who reacted violently were killed. You're delusional if you think any other leader would have just let them stay.
