Wpvp is nothing but a gankfest and will never be anything more. Gratz on wanting headpats for exclusively picking 3 on 1 fights?
Half of this is in already, the other half is gratuitous uninteresting filler.Nah.
there is a VERY good reason there are no additional rewards in pvp events in genshinand when i read "Dogtags - collect named trophies from players you defeat", well... xdtbf everyone that participated in this should be stripped of their ilvl and forced to play shadowlands' sp
Yes! I’ve been working on a concept such as the above mentioned for the last 8 months now and would love to share some ideas! This is great!
There are always some who refuse to accept truces, aren't there? ;)
I love all of those ideas. The current gear rewards while probably seasonally upgraded in item level to stay relevant for world PVP is great but I additionally would love to see the ideas laid out in this post implemented.
Neat idea! Great job Troma and the team :)
This has some good ideas. I like the dogtag idea as sort of a trophy but eventually you will have so many of those and what will you do with it?Maybe restrict it to a certain event like an open world 1v1 arena tournament? The power boost idea is fun but will be a nightmare to balance. It reminds me of the corruption system in BFA. One of the problems with wpvp which i experienced for the gazillionth time last night was that larger groups will hunt down a single player and get rewarded for it. To me this is not pvp, especially since i wrote down their names and hunter them 1 at a time and none of them managed to win in a 1v1 situation.
I can't speak for the other regions but anything war mode is doomed to fail on the OCE servers due to the massive faction imbalance in favour of the Alliance.
Instead of trying to incentivize people to turn it back on, and failing, they need to look at why people are turning it off instead, and fix those issues first. Things like stupid gimmick 1shots, and faction tapping altogether. If you want people to turn WM on, you need to remove the reasons people turn it off, not just try and add more benefits. This is coming from someone who has played with with WM on all through BfA, all through SL, and all through DF so far, and is looking at turning it off very soon, after earning my final "World PvP" achievement. I want to keep it on, but it's getting more and more frustrating to keep it on when stuff happens like fighting on the Rhuzast platform and just getting knocked off a ledge and put into a 5 second stun while you're falling, so you can't even use a glider and just hit the ground and die to fall damage. How are you supposed to react to that? That's not PvP, that's just insta-death gimmicks. Also having to fight for tags on rare mobs when my friends are going around with WM off and just tagging everything, regardless of whether it was attacked by Horde or Alliance first, or sometimes not being able to participate in content like the Siege on Dragonbane Keep without needing to realm-hop first, while they don't have to worry about that, it just feels bad, and gives me more reasons to want to turn it off. And I mean, it's incredibly frustrating to spend over a minute killing an elite mob only for someone to fly down from out of nowhere, stun you before you even have a chance to target them, and then watching helplessly as you go from full health to dead in a single uncounterable CC chain.Plus, Blizz really need to make a QoL change to a lot of buffs to allow them to persist through death (looking at you, Darkmoon Faire rep buffs). Because nothing is more frustrating and demoralizing than going all the way back to the Faire, getting the carousel buff again, going back to complete a world quest, and getting ganked so having to do it all over again. (Yes, I know the tophat exists, but it costs 10 prize tickets so you can only purchase 2-3 of them per day).
Strongly against all of this. I already feel forced into warmode enough as it is given it's the easiest way to gear alts. Not to mention it's basically free stuff for the Alliance on RP and OCE servers. It's a failed system.
The Enemy Trophy system won't work in WoW. It'll just be a bunch of 5 mans collecting them from solo people and then griefing them. People get rewarded with bloody tokens now anyway for bounties etc. We kind of already have Champion Armor through the Bloody Tokens system. Same with the "fight in selected areas". If this dog-tag system should be a thing, it should only target people who has already engaged and killed several people recently. It should not be linked to the current bounty system as if they can't find anyone that fills the previously mentioned condition of having killed people lately it finds a random person to dismount that was just passing through to keep people on the hunt. Which is bad, honestly. One of the few good suggestions on here is the added map objectives like escort supplies and fighting hotspots. Though the latter is still risky because it will lead to people ganging up on each other which means the most populous faction will win most of the time. On RP servers that's alliance and on normal server that's usually Horde for EU for example. Leaderboards doesn't make sense really since it'll only be about who has the biggest guild to support them in the mode. As I said earlier it's hardly glorious 1v1 combat out there. Outside the honor and token reward I don't wanna reward people who just run around killing people as 5 rewarded for it. If this should even be a thing it should be forced to only make progress solo, without getting heals or anything from external sources. Also, with some of the factions working together in neutral factions etc, if they give exclusive perks to characters who slay heaps of alliance there should also be a drawback in neutral hubs. Like people won't trade you whatever because you broke the neutrality several times. By killing people of the other faction you're actively aiding the enemies of Azeroth in most cases. If there is rewards to that then there should also be downsides. I know the "but that will make war mode even less popular" and yes, I agree, but currently it's usually one faction enjoying war mode while the other is outnumbered most of the time. If you encourage war mode, the opposite has to be encouraged as well and give certain perks like perhaps neutral opposite faction vendors etc. All in all I hope the devs don't listen to these "passionate" players too much as they clearly haven't given much thought into how this will actually play out in the game, they're just focusing on wanting rewards for their 5-on-1 playstyle. They're actively making up scenarios that extremely rarely happen in the game these days. The game rewards that enough atm. New PvP objectives is the only good suggestion as I see it that could boost this mode in a healthy way without it becoming an exclusive bonus for the dominant faction of each server/region which it kind of already is unless you make a raid team as the underdog faction. There's no need to reward the dominant faction even more than currently. inb4 "but I'm playing alliance on horde dominant servers and I'm having a great time" comments.
I've always said that warmode should essentially be a battleground, spanning the entire expansion. A game mode in of itself, if you will. Not just a button to allow pvp. That's so low effort, it hurts.
If they ever make WM content required, or add to player power in any way, they are shooting themselves in the foot. BFA was bad enough having to turn on wm or miss out on player power. Everyone just jumps into a shard that is owned by their faction and anyone who doenst or is new just gets feed to the gank grinder. Same thing happens now at the PVP WQ, find a group or get farmed by a group. Ways to fix: 1. Group size is limited to 10 for outdoor content before people get sharded. 2. NEVER make it a source for player power outside of pvp. 3. Allow for opting out of WM while dead.4. Scale up players in pvp combat to a set minimum ilvl.5. SEE RULE 26. DOUBLE CHECK THAT YOU SAW RULE #27. Because rule 2 is required to make it work, the game mode is dead since 90% of the playerbase still wont interact with the content.
That Lion Armor is on point
This all sounds alright to me, as long as Non-War Mode receives similar improvements and exclusive rewards.
