lmao
I'd love to see an interview with Ion and co after this one asking them exactly how they expected this to be handled without the assistance of the suite of addons we're seeing. The rest of the raid has been (mostly) good (outside of stuff like intuiting private dispels on frames, or the Paladins incident), but L'ura is just baffling in so many respects because it runs against what they've shown they can do, but also what they're on record saying they wanted.
There is literally no way to do this fight without addons. Holy hell.
Can blizzard just quit while theyre ahead and shift focus back to making fun and challenging classe? Clearly there will always be a work around to these mechanics. Also the boss is designed worse than fractilus, its forcing these top guilds to engineer complex workarounds just to kill the bloody thing. Think of the average CE guild. Blizzards addon changes proved theyre incapable of designing hard bosses that dont require addons to problem solve for teams. Nothing changed for these top guilds but the 99.9% dont have a team of engineers, programmer, analysts, and staff working around the clock. Just pull the ripcord, admit you messed up, make the experience for the players the best you can make it, rather than target these problems that dont exist for the average player and making them install more addons than we had to begin with. It needs to be said :/ Its beginning to look embarrassing.
On the one hand using add-ons that make this easier is very clearly not allowed and probably counts as cheating. On the other hand a fight should give you time to react, if you already have to go into the fight knowing exactly what to do down to the second, I think they've missed the mark on this add-on free tuning. Most of the time I'd just dismiss the people who insist they need add-ons as scrubs who aren't nearly as good as they think they are, but this seems...extreme, Like...REALLY extreme. I get I've been out of serious raiding long enough that I'm not an expert in the field, but this seems more than a tad much.
I hate everything about this.
As always: the people behind the RWF teams winning the race not the players' skill. Pathetic. Its a shame they still dont have individual servers for RWF just like TGP/MDI, gear could be acquired as they want = no boring a$$ splits, Blizz could tune however they would want without affecting civilians, since every region would have their own servers, there wouldnt be 8 hour headstart for NA and ofc they could turn off addons for those servers and lets see how good the players really are without relying on addons.
you people really dont understand, these raids are very clearly developed by a separate team who weren't working with the current addon restrictions. not to excuse this, but it's pretty obvious, and typical of reddit and wowhead users who freak out and can't use any logic
If they'd stop trying to "beat" the RWF guilds, all 3-4 guilds of them and build the encounters for the rest of us this would not be an issue.Stop building encounters for RWF.Instead, it seems Ion is obsessed with trying to slow them down. Who cares, build the game for the majority of the people that play.
what was the point of killing addons if they're still going to make terrible addon centric mechanicsRemoved
Been saying it for years at this point, WoW doesn't have (much of) an addon problem, it has a encounter design problem. It blows my mind how Blizzard can be acting like addons are a problem and design mechanics like this time and time again. It's extra deplorable in an expansion that's supposed to be showcasing raiding after they've ripped out addon support and taken plenty of players UI's with it as collateral. How Blizzard expect players to execute mechanics like this, Echo of Neltharion, Fyrakk intermission or a dozen other bosses and mechanics dating at least back to WOD's Archimonde where they simply do not allow players the time is a mystery. Most of the problems with addons are self inflicted. If they'd fixed their encounter design they'd have needed a fraction of the restrictions they're having to impose.
This is exactly why I called out Ion and Co. when they had the audacity to claim that they were designing fights to be increasingly complex because of addons when the reserve is true. Players would never have turned to addons had the boss encounter not gotten out of hand, particularly on later bosses on heroic and mythic difficulty. This fight and their response to it illustrates that perfectly.
Very odd that Blizzard would take issue with the visual portion yet leave the audio portion in tact. Then again, this is probably par the course since they probably never got a new Q&A team.
just like irl, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer
