It would be hilarious if Cataclysm Classic got player housing before the retail client gets it in Midnight.
Cata gets player housing! Cata hype!
This just confirms housing for classic.
The reason this file is in classic is a simple boring explanation:The Interface files from the export are the same across all WoW versions. There's one master set of Interface files and every version loads what it uses, just like how addon .toc files work now.It just so happens that the Cataclysm PTR has the most up-to-date set of Interface files. This file will show up soon for retail, most likely in the next 11.1 ptr update.
I've thought that it's very possible they put housing in some form in classic to go with retail's release of it. They might be coding it in early for cata, but the housing won't show up until a later patch to match when retail gets it.Edit: someone made a good point on how all game versions use same code baseline, but my point still stands that the devs could easily add housing as content for classic servers. It also gives the devs an excuse to develop housing assets derived from older parts of the game.
Huge news!
classic housing or not, i'm just happy to see hints of human houses being avail for housing- i want my own little cottage/farmhouse somewhere to make cozy.
bruder, wer is noch hyped?
Let's hope this is a mistake. As much as I loathe all so-called "classic" realms and the nonsense game modes, there is no reason whatsoever to have player housing in anything except for REAL WOW. Every year, the devs show they care more about these fake classic realms than they do about the actual game. You can't make everyone happy. Once you tweaked vanilla content for WoW classic, and then when you ended TBC classic, it was like opening pandora's box. It's going to get so much worse as the population is spread around and gets smaller and smaller in the real game. We don't need other WoW's that are not actually WoW. We just need the one true WoW, retail version. I would pay $50 per month if it meant no more classic realms or game modes. You can't improve Wow by creating inferior versions of it, that aren't even the same as they were when it was live content, and definitely not by game modes that are not even played in WoW. Crazy
Ever tried Palia? The building system in Palia feels so good. There's so much freedom where to place things. I hope it's a smooth user experience like Palia, and not clunky/old like a lot of other WoW systems.
Or, since they basically just roll the code from the archive for these classics....there was prework for what was going to be player housing in warlords (that eventually just became the garrisons) in late cata, that is being found now.
lol I'll believe it's at the level of Wildstar or, more hilariously goofy to immediately compare it to, FFXIV.Because right now it seems like instant copium comparing it to systems with literally tens of thousands of doodads to swap out.
Can't wait to start paying monthly rent in both Cataclysm Classic and Midnight on top of the monthly sub!
They’re not going to add player housing to Classic versions of the game. This is a distraction, nothing more.
As a mage main since Vanilla I always wanted player housing to be able to officially live in Dalaran but now that they nuked it for no reason it’s killed any joy I might have had.
