Love is in the Air 2009 (Feb 11 - Feb 16) - Quest Guide + Information!
2009/02/11 at 11:29 AM
Love rockets! With the Lunar Festival just coming to a close, already another holiday has come along full of festivities (and achievements) to keep us busy! 2009's Love is in the Air event, an in-game Valentine's Day of sorts, runs from February 11 - February 16, a mere six days (less, technically) to take in all there is and finish as many of the new achievements as possible! Spread the love to the citizens of your faction and score some candy, fireworks, a new dress or suit, or even a non-combat pet! Be a pro achiever and come out with a new player title - the Love Fool!\r
Patch 3.0.9 Released! (Also Official Venting Location)
2009/02/10 at 12:12 PM
GRRRRRRR!!!Edit: Maintenance extended another two hours, until 1pm PST. Who's surprised? :)\r
Server down? Having trouble patching? Hate the changes they made to your class? Have a rash on your feet that just won't go away, and you're waiting for Blizzard to send you some ointment? Well, here's the place to tell us about it. And if the servers just come back up without issue, then...well then we'll just let this thread die. :)\r
Especially interesting about this patch is the official patch notes, which can be found here:\r
More info on this after the break!
2009/02/09 at 5:41 PM
Patch time?So MMO-Champion has announced that the 3.0.9 patch is coming out tomorrow, and posted a set of patch notes. There has been some confusion on the official forums, since the official patch notes on the site still read 3.0.8, and Boubouille doesn't cite a source on MMO-Champion—but since it's a hot topic, I thought I'd post the patch notes here.\r
Please note these may not be official patch notes. Without an official Blizzard source, we can't verify their authenticity. We offer them here for discussion purposes only.\r
The full notes are listed after the break.

Sorry for the lack of comics, folks—I've been so busy doing artwork commissions for the boys and girls here at Wowhead that I haven't had time to draw up a comic this week!\r
I don't have a comic to show, but I hate for you guys to go without—so I've gotten my clients' permission to post some of the works-in-progress here so you can see what I've been working on all this time.\r
First, though, a random sketch from the Wowhead Broadcast News network:\r
Noxiia and Malgayne, your WBN Co-Anchors. Bringing you the News. Sometimes.\r

Dear Wowhead... Delayed!
2009/02/07 at 11:51 PM
Sincerely, Malgayne.Welcome back, dear readers! It seems as though you're going to have to go without your fix today...for what should I find when I sat down at my writing desk, but...an empty mailbox?\r
That's right, I haven't received any letters for a full two weeks! How do I offer advice if no one asks for it? How can I provied the beautiful gift of my wisdom and discretion to the world, without letters to answer? The way things have been going, you'd think I was a nosy busybody who's always getting involved in other peoples' business!\r
If you would like to see your letter featured on Dear Wowhead, simply send a note to firstname.lastname@example.org with "Dear Wowhead" in the subject, and your question may be chosen for the column. If there are enough letters, I may be able to answer two a week!\r
Please do NOT ask your questions in the comments. What fun is it if everyone gets to read them early?
WoW not for sale in Australia? (Official Response)
2009/02/06 at 12:36 PM
Image courtesy VGBoxArt.comSo a lot of attention has been paid lately to the recent news that WoW was supposedly no longer legally for sale in Australia. Apparently the issue is that being an online game, WoW is not rated by the Australian ratings board—and new legislation has just been passed to prevent the sale of unrated games. WoWInsider had a story posted about it here.\r
Well, the day of the law change has passed and WoW is still on the shelves. WoWinsider (and their sister site, Massively) claim it's because no one really cares enough about the issue to pull them, but a recent email from Blizzard seems to indicate otherwise. At Nethaera's request, I have republished the email here after the break.

Now don't you feel motivated?I'd like you to meet my good friend World of Warcraft. We've been friends for about two years now, off and on.\r
I could talk about all the positive qualities that my friend WoW has, that he's always available to hang out when I'm free, that he's got a bunch of other friends, invites me to parties, all those things.\r
More than anything though, I've always thought WoW was awesome because WoW wants me to succeed.

Just a quick note to let you guys know that we're having a little bit of trouble with the Wowhead Client server. People who upload may be getting an "Authentification Failed" error. Don't panic! Your information is entered correctly! We should have the error fixed up shortly.\r
Edit: I'm slow today! Looks like we've got it fixed. Leave a comment if you're having further problems.
Wowhead 101 - Using Filters!
2009/02/03 at 3:32 AM
No talking!I was in our Wowhead IRC Channel the other day, talking to some of our regulars, when someone asked "How do I find enchantments with X stat on them?" I was thinking about this, and I started to realize that Wowhead's filters are actually a surprisingly under-utilized feature. So, in the interest of making everyone's trip through Azeroth a little easier, I thought I'd take a minute to talk about the Wowhead filter system and how you can use it to find the info you need.\r
Class is now in session!
Hacked Passwords - Are You Safe?
2009/01/30 at 11:55 PM
A typical safe.As some of you may have read in one of our recent blogs account security is at an all-time high for World of Warcraft fans. Coming after the release of a highly anticipated expansion, and an especially busy holiday season, many players are still finding their accounts compromised. Historically, Blizzard has been able to track and shut down illegal activity, but these things are complicated and could take up to several months for a thorough investigation. Even then, not all accounts are able to be restored completely, if at all.\r
As we covered previously, the top three culprits are shared account passwords, illegal account services (real money trading or power-leveling, etc.) and malware such as trojans or viruses. Blizzard will never ask for an account password except on the official website, the official forums or Armory, and the actual game log-in screen. Likewise, never share an account password with another person, even ones you trust.
Gearing Up IRL
2009/01/29 at 7:24 PM
All the tables in my house look like this. All of us already know that WoW, and by extension Warcraft, is an exceedingly successful franchise. After all, we likely wouldn't be here if it wasn't. So with that in mind, I find myself wondering today about the numerous other sub-franchises that have sprung up around it.\r
Licensing is an amazing thing. You can get your guild crest printed on a shirt. You can have a three-dimensional sculpture cast of your character, in whatever gear you're wearing at the time. You can read comics about WoW. You can even play the WoW Miniatures Game, or the WoW Trading Card Game, or the WoW Adventure Game, or the WoW Board Game, or any number of other ways o
