Another 100,000 Beta Invites Sent to Annual Pass Holders
2012/03/30 at 5:32 PM
As we covered yesterday, Blizzard sent out 100,000 invites to Annual Pass holders. However, Bashiok just announced they're sending out an additional 100,000 throughout the evening--looks like they're starting to listen to you guys and work to get you all in Pandaria as quickly as possible!
May the odds be ever in your favor.
Yesterday’s 100,000 Annual Pass-holder beta-test invites ran through the night, and we’re still in the process of notifying the invitees by email. Those selected for yesterday’s wave of invites should all have the Mists of Pandaria beta client available for download through Battle.net account management, and they should all receive the email notification by end of day today. If the beta client shows up for you in Battle.net account management, you don’t need to wait for the email in order to download the client and begin testing.
We’re off to a solid start with the beta test, and things are looking good in terms of realm stability, so we’re ready to invite another wave of Annual Pass holders. A second wave of invites is going out to 100,000 more Annual Pass holders today, starting right now.

Video PreviewWe ran through the Temple of the Jade Serpent today--it's a pretty quick instance but each wing is richly detailed. You can also buy all glyphs for from a vendor right inside the instance. All bosses dropped ilvl 425 loot, but they were reskins of 4.3 gear and didn't have real names yet, like
Chestguard of Despair
The instanced version of the Temple of the Jade Serpent looks practically identical to the outdoor quest version--except it's been corrupted by the Sha. The library and water wings are accessible, as is the central area where questgivers and monks trained formerly. After questing through The Jade Forest, it's intriguing to find out how the temple ended up in such a state.
Corrupted Living Water elementals scatter the hallway by the Fountain of the Overseeing, along with dead Jinyu. When they die, they leave a harmful pool with
Mists of Pandaria Beta Invites Being Sent Out to 100,000 Annual Pass Holders
2012/03/29 at 10:32 PM
Were you looking for a beta invite? Well refresh your inbox, according to Blizzard there will be 100,000 invites going out right now.
We appreciate that everyone who signed up for the Annual Pass is genuinely excited about seeing the new content and helping us test it for release. We definitely want to get all Annual Pass holders into the beta test as soon as humanly (and technologically) possible.
To do so, we need to make sure that our new systems remain stable as we add players. If we let everyone in at the exact same time, we risk damaging the stability of the service, and then no one would be able to play. We can’t let everyone in at the same time; however, all Annual Pass holders will be invited before any opt-ins.
We’re in the process of sending 100,000 invites to Annual Pass holders, and we recommend keeping an eye on your email and Battle.net account for an invite to come explore Pandaria.
Rest assured that we WILL get all of our Annual Pass holders into the beta test. Thank you for the passion and support you’ve shown for the game, and please be patient with us as we continue driving hard toward finishing up Mists of Pandari

Mists of Pandaria Spell Animations and Changes for Warlocks and More

There have been so many spell animation changes in Mists of Pandaria so far. We already touched on the monk class and also the druid class changes, but in our latest videos, Krelumian covers other classes. This includes the warlocks who have some pretty huge changes--so many that we've broken it down in its own separate video!

New Ghostcrawler Blog: Mists of Pandaria Looting Explained
2012/03/27 at 12:03 PM
Well, we knew after the bombshells Blizzard dropped both at the press event and later that week about LFR and looting, Ghostcrawler would have to explain it for us. And here it is.
Hey, how about that landslide of Mists of Pandaria information? It has taken a few days, and will probably take a few more, for the nuance of everything to really sink in. One of the topics we've been getting lots of questions about is the crazy new loot model we're introducing in Mists. We've answered several related questions in the forums, but thought it might be prudent to just put all the information in one place.I should clarify that the systems we're introducing are actually pretty simple in practice. I'm only going into a fair amount of detail because those are the kinds of questions we are getting. You don't have to understand all the particulars to participate, and we're certain that it will just all make sense once you are experiencing it in-game instead of hearing it described (that whole "show, don't tell" thing). Let's begin:Personal LootHere is how looting works in today's Raid F
Mists of Pandaria: Jade Forest Preview and News Round Up
2012/03/26 at 8:15 PM
We were lucky enough to preview the start of the Jade Forest questline in beta before the zone was later closed! Here's a peek at the cutscene for the Alliance--as covered in our Press Event coverage, it's quite different than the cutscene for the Horde with a very angry Garrosh.
We've also got screenshots of the initial Alliance and Horde questing hubs in The Jade Forest, as well as some of the Temple of the Jade Serpent!
Be sure to check out our recent Mists of Pandaria beta coverage--this weekend alone we updated our talent calculator to have talents and abilities for ALL classes, including monks, as well as footage of redone Scholomance, Scarlet Monastery, and Ragefire Chasm.
Mists of Pandaria Preview: New Scholomance and Monk Talent Calculator Updates
2012/03/25 at 2:21 PM
Content manager Krelumian managed to get footage of my paladin doing Scholomance and turn it into a video, so we figured we'd post it here for everyone to see as a new post!
Additionally, our talent calculator now has abilities and specializations live for the monk! A lot of you requested it yesterday and Aryu worked hard last night to make sure it was up on a weekend.
Be sure to check out our other two previews of redesigned dungeons:
Scarlet Monastery becomes the Scarlet Halls & Cathedral, where many new things are happening.
Ragefire Chasm has a new evil lurking underneath Orgrimmar.
Familiar faces like Janice Barov and Rattlegore are back with updated mechanics, but some other bosses like Ras Frostwhisper[/b

Mists of Pandaria Preview: The Scarlet Halls and Cathedral Redesigns
2012/03/24 at 9:01 AM
We got to check out two wings of
--formerly four instances, SM is now reduced down to two. This instance has been entirely retooled: bosses are redesigned and renamed, large areas are removed, sides commonly known as the Library and the Armory were merged to become the Scarlet Halls while the Graveyard and Cathedral became the Scarlet Cathedral.
In short, a lot of HUGE changes! We've also updated this post because our instance was bugged last time.
Watch the video for our complete run through--my character with Krelumian narrating--or click the tabs to see a detailed breakdown on what the changes are.
The Scarlet Crusade is having a war and they're losing it pretty badly in the remnants of what many players referred to as the Graveyard side. Undead pour in and corpses burn in large, decaying piles throughout the somber scene. The area has also been pruned of
and his torture scene as well as trash mobs. This is now part of Scarlet Cathedral. It transitions seamlessly into where the Cathedral area was.

Mists of Pandaria Preview: New Ragefire Chasm
2012/03/23 at 11:10 AM
We hopped on the PTR and ran all the redone instances that we could this morning. These are very much works in progress as instances, but they looked really cool and had some fairly significant changes.
A common theme I noticed in pretty much every instance was a desire for there to be useable items that made the 5-mans more dynamic. In RFC, players were charged with rescuing orcs from sticky situations--from dangling off a ledge to being devoured by an elemental hound. Meanwhile, in SM, certain mobs would drop explosives which players could detonate and there was also the option to use archery targets as shields from a barrage of flaming arrows. Cool stuff, can't wait to see it more developed--and to see what it means for level 90 5-mans!
Those poor Troggs. What did they do to anyone? I mean, besides killing and maiming low level Horde players?
In short, Ragefire Chasm is redone. Trogg corpses litter the molten floors of the instance--they aren't the enemies anymore. Instead it's a new cult, former members of the Horde called the Dark Shaman. Garrosh has orde
