The Hivemind: Complete Guide to the Secret Mount

DISCLAIMERS:

A group is REQUIRED to obtain this mount. You CANNOT complete this secret solo.

You are NOT required to have all monocles, but it is STRONGLY ADVISED that you obtain at least 1 monocle to continue onto the puzzle (Ideally, you do want to obtain all 4 monocles to make the steps after the monocles easier on you).

Note that once you have completed the steps to obtain a certain monocle, you will be able to buy that monocle directly from Griftah for 800, should you accidentally lose or delete one of your monocles.

If you do not have any monocles, the only way to proceed is to join a group of four players who have all the monocles and are at the Suramar Beams step.

For all the following steps until completion of the secret, it is required to keep the Talisman of True Treasure Tracking equipped.

What You Need

Purchase a Dije de buscador de tesoros verdadero from Griftah in Ciudad de Shattrath.

Use TomTom or another coordinate marking/tracking addon for the waypoints given throughout the guide.

The Hivemind HoO Puzzle Helper addon can help you adjust the constellation refractors to solve the Halls of Origination puzzle.

IMPORTANT: If you cannot see this NPC, you can create a simple target macro: /target Volatile Violetscale. This will allow you to interact with the NPC.

El pez negro - Located at /way 15 82, this lone orca is near the southwest corner of the Abandoned Reef.

Buy 500 from Sir Aletardo Mrrgglton

Go to the Violetascama volátil and exchange them for 100 .

Go to the Mantarraya astrónoma and exchange the shark tooth for 50 .

Go to Pequeña ballenita and exchange the larvae for 250 .

Go to the Azuleta sombría and exchange the doctor fish for 10 .

Go to El viejo Alitósico and exchange the crab skin for 50 .

Buy 80 from Sir Aletardo Mrrgglton.

Go to the Azuleta sombría and buy 2 .

The start of this puzzle is the Carta de la señora Graham with a blue aura behind Griftah, which can be interacted with—be sure to do so! This letter has a cryptic message:

Lady Chaton

Sra. Pastelitos → Sombra → Mew → Ceniza → BellaYou do NOT need to pet the cats in the above order; only use the order to determine how many pets each cat gets.

For example, if your code is "12345," You must pet Fluffy 1 time, Shadow 2 times, Mew 3 times, Ash 4 times, and Bella 5 times.

If you receive a 4-digit or less amount of damage, assume that there is a '0' padding the front of the number until it is 5 digits. So taking 1234 damage would mean your code is "01234."

If you have a 0, then you skip petting that cat in the sequence. For example, if you have a 0 at the start, like 01234, you do not pet Mrs. Fluffymuffins.

AT ONE TIME

So in the aforementioned case, Fluffy must have 1 stack of the petting buff, Shadow must have 2 stacks, Mew must have 3 stacks, Ash must have 4 stacks, and Bella must have 5 stacks all at once.

Petting them gives either cat a stack of Ronronea, which lasts for 15 seconds.

If you let the buff fall off, or attempt to pet them once the buff is at 10 stacks, they will pounce you, stunning you for a second with Manarañazo. This debuff indicates that the cat hasn't been petted enough or was petted too much.

Q: Do you have to complete past secrets like Faja horaria or Pesadilla en vigilia in order to get The Hivemind?
A: No. All steps and requirements for the mount are explained in this guide, and there are no prerequisites to start.

Q: Is this soloable?
A: No. The colored monocles can be done solo, but everything else from the Suramar Beams step and onwards requires a group of five.

Q: Do I have to get every monocle?
A: No. You can get as few or as many as you want, as long as your group has one of each on 4 different players.

Q: I'm channeling into the Hivemind in the last room, but we aren't getting the mount. Why?
A: This portion appears to be buggy. Swap players into different circles in the room, ensure everyone has Dije de buscador de tesoros verdadero equipped, and channel at the same time. Keep trying new spots, and check your bags periodically to see if you've gotten the mount.

Q: Once I complete it, can I do it again for friends?
A: Yes. You can start again at the Suramar Beams step on the same character, or do the entire secret from beginning to end on alts. However, this will re-attune you to the group of people with whom you complete the secret with, meaning you will not be able to join Hiveminds with the previous group of players you did the ritual with unless you redo the attunement with them.

Q: I can't join the Hivemind of any players other than those of the group that completed it with me, what gives?
A: Based on a series of tweets by Celestalon, this appears to be intended. You can only join up with players that were part of your most recent Hivemind ritual. (source tweet).

Q: What is the minimum level requirement to complete this secret?
A: Because the secret requires entering Corte de Estrellas, you must be at least level 45 to receive your mount. However, it is recommended that you be level 50, as the Withered NPCs have a good bit of health you need to DPS through.

Q: Can this mount be obtained with members of the opposite faction?
A: Yes, you can do all the steps up until and including the Court of Stars scenario with members of the opposite faction. However, you will not be able to ride in the Hivemind mount with said members once you obtain it.

Notes about the lost cat toy.

Requires 5 player group to collect
Have each players have at least 1 of the monocles; preferably 2 or more. That way you can rotate. Meaning you do not need to collect all 4 monocles at this time (too early to say at this point if all 4 are needed.
DO NOT LEAVE GROUPS EARLY. The first group I was in, I was the 5th person to get the toy. Only someone left the group right after I got into the room but before I could click the toy. The toy despawned and I had to join a new group before I could get the toy.
Alliance side, Kara's Chess Even could be bugged. If a player gets into a vehicle and exits, the vehicle could despawn. In the case of the King, this will soft lock the raid since the horde nps will kill off the rest of the chess pieces and just stand around once all the pieces are killed off.

For some reason I couldn't buy the Shiny Sea Serpent Scale. Every time I would click it it would give the error "You can't buy the specified amount of this item". I obviously didn't have the time to figure out what was breaking it...

There are a few ways to do the Halls of Origination part of the puzzle.

The way that helped ME, was start doing one line at a time, from outside > in.
Get the first line outside, then move to the second one.

The best tip I can give is:
Once you reach the moment of "I have no clue what to do": stop and move to another part of the puzzle. It will get straight at some point.

Outside > In. Several videos on youtube with complex explanations. Just try it out, reset; go againe!

I can't seem to buy 250 Well-Fed Doctor Fish. I can only get to 230 with 4 Razoreel Larva left to get the last 4 stacks, then the message comes up, "You can't buy the specified amount of this item". I have tried entering different amounts, reloading and re logging. Is the amount only supposed to be 230 or is it a bug?

For those who need help solving the constellation puzzle for the Monóculo con cristal amarillo, there are two options:

Option 1
Some wondrous soul who goes by ykiigor made an add-on that allows you to mark a grid with the necessary information and then the add-on will attempt to solve it. You may download Hivemind HoO Puzzle Helper from Curse. Here are a couple screenshots from when I tried it last night (super tired and I goofed up while entering, which is why you don't see a perfect solve in the latter screenshot). Image 1, Image 2

Cheese it. A friend solved the puzzle for their self, then gave me a group invite. I zoned into the dungeon, ran to the puzzle location, equipped Dije de buscador de tesoros verdadero, and there was the chest. ❤

Just ran this with two groups, for both groups the markers were consistent according to the jump puzzle.
1=Square
2=skull
3=X
4=star
5=triangle

On a side note, anyone who has completed the puzzle before is able to walk into the purple ground animation & is automatically teleported to the other side, without consequence of who was left behind. No one can cross solo, but #2 is safe to cross with anyone and can bring a carry across. You can also loot the mount after you've learned it (it sells for 1c). If you're doing a carry, or helping out a friend green is by far the easiest monocle to pick up. You only need one copy of each monocle. This means you can feasibly carry two people, both will need the Talisman of True Treasure Tracking, and one can get the green monocle from spires of arak in a few minutes.

Concerning the room with the beams in Suramar I can confirm that only one person needs to click the . For me, the item spawned inside the pillows so make sure you move your cursor around if you are having difficulties seeing the actual item once you are passed the beams.

Gz for community to solve this. Thou this mount/achivement is totally fup atm when they required co-op on this. Would have been better if they leave co-op off for this. At some point atleast.

Or if they wanted CO-OP in first place give feat of strenght untill timer runs out (example we got flying) like you did with similar water mount in legion. And remove the Co-OP requirements. Can be totally deal breaker for many after few weeks/months as if you see how ppl are behaving and game is becoming more and more single player focused.

Hey guys, I followed along in the discord through the whole thing and so much credit to these people and the time they put in. I tried to keep up around my normal schedule of life and was able to finish it just hours after the first people did. Since I chronicled the entire thing I decided to make a video going over each step for visual representation. On the flying disc with the purple lava you don't need to figure out who can ride with whom. All you need to do is spam the right click button on your mouse when you are getting the voice prompts saying Access denied. You'll then stay on the disc and ride it to the end.

The max you can buy of the seashells via shift click is 255. It allows you to put in say "500" but only 255 will be purchased.

This is too much for a mount. The work doesn't match the reward in my opinion. I logged in and saw these everywhere and thought to myself if it takes more than 10 minutes to get this mount I won't even bother.

The addon for the halls of origination is a god-send. Takes forever to set up but then works as advertised. Don't panic if you've accidentally clicked the wrong refractor when following the solving order, or clicked too often - the colors cycle so you can work through modulo 4 to get to the state you're supposed to have.

E.g., if you're not supposed to click at all but did once by accident, three more clicks gets you back to 0.
If you're supposed to click once but clicked three times, two more gets you to the desired state etc.

For anyone painstakingly going through the platform puzzle with random people, praying nobody messes up and you need to restart, once you get to the end everyone can just hop off their platforms without any issues -- there is a floor under the last part that you will land on! (Unsure what happens if someone hops off before everyone is above this floor though; I wouldn't recommend testing it).

For the jumping puzzle, mark each member of your group (Skull, X, Moon, Square and Triangle.) Then put this in a text editor and cut and paste each line as you go across (cut helps you track it.) Make sure to tell Square to use the far left platform after they jump off towards the end or it gets tricky (we screwed that up, but managed to finish without resetting.)

This is a pretty stupid bug to find yourself in, but if you convert to raid while doing the dungeon steps nothing will work correctly. My group found ourselves on the lava step with no combinations of two people who could cross. We attempted the quest again today and got stuck on the cat step. Both of the times we were on raid version of the party instead of the normal party group. As soon as we converted to a normal party everything worked as the guide stated.

There are a couple of inaccuracies in the guide: the first letter solve says the anagram is "anticipation for deathwing" but it's actually "anticipators of deathwing". And the solve for Razorfen Downs only mentions "bramble undead" but it was solved to be "multitudes of dead barbs".

When undertaking the Red Monacle trading game, if you have to repeat an item (because you have too few, for example) delete the first/wrong items first and then buy the new ones. Otherwise, the first stack wipes out the second stack when its time runs out. This happened to me on the Black Squid Ink item. PS Whole thing took me 1 hour and 10 mins, using flying and Surf Jelly. An extra five minutes included for the mess up with the ink. Takeaways from this, check the number of shells you have, they stack at 255.

Turning War Mode ON or OFF can mess up everything!
Two guys from our grup had WM ON - one was at the red-beam-deactivating-mob and the other stood in front of light-beam door. And the door guy saw only red beam disappearing!
It all solved when they switched War Mode OFF.
So be sure to have all party members at the same War Mode (ON or OFF).

So we had a person disconnect in the room where you ride the black disk. It messed with the permissions of his character to ride with the rest of our group. We fixed it by having the guy that disconnected stay in the instance while the other 4 people Alt F4'd out of the game and logged back in. This reset everyone's permissions to ride. We had to re-figure out who could run with who and who was the driver of the black disk but it let us finish the puzzle and get the Hivemind without a problem after that.

A few quick notes from doing it with a group today on one of my alts. If you have a brewmaster monk clicking the cat toy, you just need to add together the arcane dmg amount and the absorb amount, not the staggers (we tried all the combinations, that's the one that worked). Also, there is a time limit after the beams disappear for which the cat toy is able to be interacted with. If your person clicking the toy gets distracted (especially by people asking how to find the cat toy....), and the toy isn't there when they get back to look for it, they don't have to leave the room, you just need to trigger the beams again and the toy will appear.

For the last puzzle, riding the black disk, we found this helpful. Using trial and error, find one person that can ride with every one other person (choose a person to be person A/skull, and have them ride back and forth with each other person). If it fails that means neither of those people is person A/skull, choose another person until you find that person that can ride with every one other person (just 2 together). Make a note of who can ride together successfully. Then also through trial and error, find which other 2 people can ride with your A/skull person as the trio (I believe only 1 trio exists). Mark those people also according to the picture, then mark the remaining 2 people triangle/square. Then you can easily follow the diagram to complete.

So your trial and error will look like this: Choose 2 random people to ride with each other. If it fails, neither is person A/skull. Try 2 more random people until you find them. If it succeeds, one of those people is person A/skull. One more test should confirm who is person A/skull. Then try to find your trio using A/skull plus 2 random people. Once you have found A, and your trio: A, B, and C, mark them according to the diagram as skull, X, and star, and the other two as triangle and square. Allow one person to lead this process who knows what they're doing. I found it helpful to write down combos of who was trying to go with who on a paper as we messed around at the beginning and one name kept coming up and that turned out to be our A.

Once it clicks in your head you will be good! Good luck!

Don't be like me and try to swim for the red monocle. You're much faster on a flying mount, especially if you have Maestro jinete, in part because you don't have to navigate obstacles. The exception is when you go from one vendor in Abyssal Depths to another - those guys are so deep that diving/coming up on a swimming mount or with Pescadora sondaluz equipped can almost take a minute.

ok, I find this a little bit stupid. I'm backing to the game after a year hiatus and I want this mount. some fellas warn me that I must group, which at this time would be difficult since everybody but me has the freaking mount. I follow the guide and I got 4 monocles (cheers for the guide BTW, its super accurate). then when I go to the beams part I crush against a wall (of beams XD ), since I really NEED found a group even when I lost so much time getting the 4 monocles.

obviously as I was warned, I wait 3 and a half hours for group until I quit. so, no mount for me because it's impossible to get right now. good work blizzard. make the stupid thing an event like limited time mount, like the pre patch bat, because as my friends foretold me it's impossible to get if you don't get it when was released.

Just found a new way to skip the Lightlock disc puzzle, my group encountered a bug while trying to do it. After almost giving up i said "Watch me do this by myself boys" took the disc while spamming right click on it, to everyones surprise i managed to jump back on the disc and ride all the way over alone. All 4 members of my group managed to copy this so it has worked 5/5 times in my experience. That is all. (having a macro spam right click made it work every time)

This arcane lava disc portion of the puzzle is insanely bugged. Sometimes if one person clicks the disc nobody else can interact with it. Sometimes nobody at all can interact with it. You have to leave the instance, reset and go through the cat and disc nonsense all over again.

A few things of note before you start the Red Monocle part:
1) GET A BULK BUYING ADDON! Your wrist/fingers will thank you.
2) Use a targeting macro for the NPCs. Tom Tom waypoints work well but for many people, myself included, many of the fish are invisible. Use a macro to help find them.
3) SET THE FISH NPCS TO FOCUS! If you're still having issues finding the fish after using the macro, simply make them your focus target. Your minimap will display an icon with helpful arrows to guide you up or down to get closer to the ghost NPC to interact with it.

Also, not sure if it's a bug or not, but my Kul Tiran Druid's swim speed is 607% when in Vashj'ir. When I use my seahorse mount on another toon it's only 371%. I didn't really pay attention to compare the relative speed, but the Druid did seem faster. I do highly recommend doing this on a druid because mounting is instant and you may be going in and out of the water often.

If you're having an issue with Lady Chaton standing on the cat you're trying to click and interrupting your flow, go to your Keybindings > Targeting Functions and keybind "Interact with Target." Then just target the appropriate cat and use your new keybind! (Note: Be sure not to overwrite a keybind that you use already like W,A,S,D etc. I'd recommend a number pad key or something on the far right of your keyboard).

Some tips for the Vashjir part, since there's a frequent bug which often makes all the characters disappear on the deepest areas: bind "Interact with target" to a key, activate "Click to move", and turn on friendly nameplates. If you have trouble reaching the NPC, just select their nameplate and click the IWT keybind, and your toon will run to them (if in a reasonable range).

I didn't see it in the guide and it was a bit of a surprise to me so mentioning this: your hivemind consists of the characters you did it with, not the players.

Also while getting every monocle is a good idea if you're going to pug it, if you're planning ahead as a group there is no need to have more than one per player, and the fifth player gets to not bother with anything other than the talisman. Just assign your monocle colors ahead of time so nobody doubles up.

Got it.
We did it in 2 sessions with a week in between.

Went with 4 guild members got the necklace, assigned 4 to get monocles in first session and 1 to chill. :)

No issues with obtaining the monocles, the merchant game took 1.50 hour (retry 1) , the letter reading took 2 hours (tea breaks and being a rogue) number puzzle 3 min, Crystal puzzle 3 hours (no addon just a clever person) (retry 1)

Beams.
Was slightly worried as I could not find info on ~~can the zombies die!~~ turns out they cannot!
Also all zombies need to be nuked down the same time, as all beams must be disconnected in a window of 3 sec for the person can enter the lost toy room!.

Cats.
A doodle if I had not twice petted too much (too eager or just love cats?)

Jump sequence.
one shotted!

Lava Float.
I mean who dont love a good game of the Chicken, the Fox and the Bag of grain?

For the red monocle part of this secret I made a series of macros to essentially automate the process by setting waypoints, marking npcs with raid markers to make them easier to spot, and to automatically buy the right items from the npcs once you get to them and have their window open. Here it is if anyone wants to use it:

**Two asterisks indicates a note, one asterisk indicates a suggested name for the macro.
**Each macro will need to be clicked three times, once after finishing the previous step to set the waypoint (make sure you have closed the buy window on the merchant you were just talking to), once when you are at the waypoint and close to where the npc is to target them and set the raid marker on them, and once when you are at the merchant and have their buy window open.
**IMPORTANT: in TomTom's settings under Interface>AddOns>TomTom>General Options make sure that "Ask for confirmation on "Remove All"" is NOT checked, otherwise it will mess up the way the macros work.
**WARNING: If you have TomTom waypoints saved for anywhere else this will remove them, so be sure to make a backup of your waypoints first if that's important to you.

As of shadowlands prepatch, you now need to be level 50 to complete the group puzzles (2nd part.) It also felt like jumping on the disk on the last puzzle felt 'easier' (We didn't have as many "We missed the jumps.")

There are some discrepancies on the RED monocle. The proportions for a few steps are wrong, may have changed somewhere since the video was made.
Step 1) Glitter Gill Glitter; these are correct proportions.
Step 2) Basically, I doubled everything. Buy 200 seashells from Finley, 4 Giant Giant Toenail Clippings from Gloomy Bluefin, that will get you the 4 Makura Eyes from Little Carp, and the rest is according to guide on this step.
Step 3) Again, I almost doubled everything, to get proportions correct. I bought like 600 seashells from Finley, bought 60 vantus black squid ink from Ol' Fish Breath, 40 super slick eel slime from Blackfish, 4 rock encrusted whelk shells from Volatile Violet Scale, this will get you 5 potent gloops from Little Carp
Step 4) This step did go according to guide, but I had again doubled everything just to be sure.

I had to restart steps 2 and 3 a few times, by then the Murloc skin lotion had been about to expire. So, I had to restart the whole process, making time on getting the monocle about 2-3 hours. Hope this helps someone else.

As of 9.2.5, Naked face Punching of the Wild Withered can work to getting past the barrier on the first group puzzle. Each of us got our individual Withered as close to 6% health, turned our backs on them, and waited until everyone was roughly the same. On a count of 3, we turned and did another face punch, and the barrier came down, for our Barrier Runner. Also, don't forget to Send Meatball home, because most of us forgot he was still our companion out in Legion. ;)

Adding this in, as I did not notice this posted:
Our Barrier person took overkill damage as he was gear naked, so we just added the two damage type numbers together to get the number of pets required, per cat.

Nobody mentions this, but when you complete the puzzle and get Hivemind you are stuck in Court of Stars and unable to hearth or port. You will have to disband the group where everyone but the last person will be ported out, and have 2 people reinvite to summon the last person out.

can you please make TomTom waypoint macros with zone ID numbers instead of enEN zone names so they work in any localisation in your guides @WoWhead?

some guides have them, this guide doesn't.

We were able to obtain the mount in 11.1.0, but for jumping puzzle aka "Phaseshifting platforms" the only solution on the internets that worked for us is that in the Blizzard post The Not So Secret Life Of The Hivemind, Phaseshifting platforms section. Read the table top-down left-right, i.e. the sequence is A95 B94 A85 B84 etc.
