Of course all specs are great for leveling, it just comes down to personal preference. I had no problems getting Fury gear withing a hour or two of the servers going live (I dinged 80 on Saturday with my Warrior) so rage starvation isn't much of an issue atm. I too can kill mobs within the Colossus Smash timeframe with the Incite talent and now that Raging Blow hits like a truck because of Mastery Rating.

Survivability shouldn't really be an issue in any spec with how much health Victory Rush gives back. I agree with you on your points though, Arms is a quick killing spec with juicy crits :D.

I am currently working on my goblin warrior right now so I can't bring more up to date observation to this conversation but difference between killing a mob as fury/arms/or prot ( well killing single mobs as prot will be slightly longer but Prot can do real AoE grinding ).

Just pick a playstyle you like, I'll go Arms for maximum PvP utility but 80-85 will be fun and short as any spec.

Every time I see "Fury is best for lvling great dmg, big healz, things die quickly" I just lol.
None of those guys was able to hit a mob with 16k+15k+9k in 2 gcd at 82 or try Inner Rage on anything apart Training Dummy

OT: It's my situation exactly, farming dungeons in prot, still have a mix of ICC epics and greens/blues and Arms off spec in cata quest gear :)

Leveled as fury, had no issues whatsoever. Minimal downtime and rage wasn't really an issue until lvl 84.

As to which would have been most efficient, i can't say, most likely Arms. Now that i'm 85 and all of my stats are nerfed to the ground, the obvious choice is Arms as it has stable rage income.

If you choose to level Fury, you'll need the gear to support it, and don't expect to do much in the way of 85 content once your done.

I personally leveled 70-80 in WotLK as Prot.

However, I haven't had to many problems completling quests & killing mobs in a quick fashion as Prot...mostly do to the fact that the mobs have a rather high spawn rate and the fact that I can still take on a multitude of mobs without fear of dying thanks to Victory Rush.

i did too, but i've since come to the same realization as the OP. once i switched specs, i realized how SLOOOOOOWWWWWWWWLLLLLYYYYYYY i had been going as prot.

arms is like 3-4 GCDs per mob, and victory rush easily keeps you topped up. so far the quests in cata don't really support aoe grinding like WotLK did, and that's the only time when prot could keep up.

I realize I'm only 82 atm but leveling fury is going much more quickly than arms was for me. Who needs a million damage execute when mobs only have like 4k health left? Also the self-heals from fury is pretty nice to reduce downtime, I kill mobs REAL fast, faster than I was as arms.

Not saying arms isn't great or even better than fury, maybe its just my level or gear, but honestly it doesn't matter what you level as, because the quests are all fairly easy, and all three specs kill reasonably quickly.

Basically, it's just preference.

I am a Prot/Arms warrior, and I agree with Dugroka. It comes down to personal preference. I could go a long time as Arms, simply to self heal and hit 85 within two days. However, both Prot and Fury have advantages to them. It should be noted that I am biased since I also PvE dps in Arms. (And often beat the Fury boys :p)
