The mobs where he is, long ago, where elites. Thus he had to be to survive any kind of fight. When the mobs were nerfed, they were kind enough to leave him in beasty mode. He can likely do this whole thing himself, but the camps outside can be a bit rough, as he tends to agro them all at once. Any class can solo, especially healers. Let him beat them all up and just watch his back at the camps.

A couple points:

He's down the left hand path in the cave as you enter it.
He's level 25 elite so no worries about healing/protecting him as you exit.
Because of his level, he pretty much needs to be on top of monsters to aggro them but will aid you if you start a fight.
If you want any of the loot from the monsters he kills, be prepared to dish out some significant damage.

He can be hard to find if you are just running straight for the ! on your minimap. Follow these directions to find him!

As you enter the cave, keep to the left, and the path will lead down. (You will be going clockwise.) At the lowest level of cave (southern-most point of map), loop round the lake (there will be a ledge with mobs up above your left shoulder) then look straight ahead. There will be a small inlet/cave. Keeshan is in this cave.

My question is this...
I noticed that while doing his "escort" quest, his attacks were at an incredible speed. Was it his weapon or his abilities? Or perhaps both?

On my mage, I got the feeling on this quest that he may have been the one "escorting" me instead of vice-versa.

Made a great tank while I burned down the orcs.

This was probably one of the lamest escort quests in the game.
When it was done it was one of the most awesome escort quests.
Do it before it's gone.

He can be found in the back of the cave behind Render's Camp. Go left on entering the cave, and you'll find him to the west of the pond in the cave.

Alliacne have a quest to walk him out... I remember watching my bro run some friends about two weeks ago.. pretty easy, get him to lakeshire and you get stuff

He's at 28,13 after you enter the cave. The cave entrance is at 33,6. The Blackrock MOBs are in the mid 20's for level.

The sign for this "quest" is to the left in front of the entrance to the inn in Lakeshire, but it doesn't have a gold question mark over it so I didn't notice it until I was a level 34 (Pally). You follow the road to the Burning Steppes until you see a mob on the left standing on a mound. Take the road behind him and prepare to fight your way to the cave, which is just behind the camp. These guys really ganged up on me just oustide the cave and I had to use heal to get through it. Get the treasure chest on the left. There is also a treasure chest on a ledge on the lower east side of the lake that you have to jump to get to. I found Corporal Keeshan on the North side of the lake in a short side tunnel. When I clicked on him I got an escort quest to take him back to town and me and the good Corporal managed to fight our way out of there and make it safely.

Go to the cave (33,07) at the very end of Render's Camp. Once inside turn a left as soon as you're able, this takes you through a narrow path that leads to an inside lake, this lake should be directly to your right.
Corporal Keeshan will be in a hidden nook directly opposite of where you are when you first came into the lake area. Keep walking around the lake, clear mobs as necessary, once on the other side of the lake it's an apparent dead end, but look to your left for a hidden pathway, Keeshan is there, alone with a growth of mushrooms.

Important to note, he is going to walk all the way back to town. You will have to fight both camps of Orcs outside the cave. He pauses for a minute or so so you can drink/eat but the two camp fights are back to back. Be prepared! I used target dummies and a druid and I duo'd it.
