Thermaplugg's Central Core is in no way better then Vile Protector. Procs isn't everything okay? Some of you make it seem like, "oh well Vile's proc rate is 1%, no the Core is better." No. It has way more armor, +4 strength, and is item level 41, so it can receive higher level enchants. Armor in a shield is more important then a proc that isn't that great. Good thing is, only Horde :) Lol, and Lektra, if the Core procs 5 times more, than its proc rate is only 5%....not much better at all.

perfect twink shield if you can get a 70 to run you at low levels this shield can be enchanted with all the BC enchants ;p

This really isn't good for warriors because it doesn't have any stamina. But spirit is good for paladins and shammies that use this to level!

From the PoV of a Prot pally with Felsteel Shield Spike, this is one of the best I have come across so far (For AoE grinding) I would definately advise running Gnomer either with a high level friend or a couple of randoms to get this shield, lasts a couple of levels when you AoE grind.

Found this shiled tottaly terrible. According to Skada it provides about 0,3-1% of overall damage for aoe tanking warrior. Worser than Iron Shield Spike, which provided me 1-3% of overall damage.

A good shield for its level. High armor and block value and a fairly nice proc, the spirit is near use-less but there isn't much anyway.

For some number crunching I tanked dungeons for an hour and a half at level 30 today. Here is the list of the damage caused by each of my abilities:

Thunder Clap - 34.7%
Revenge - 29.5%
Melee - 9.7%
Cleave - 9.6%
Heroic Strike - 7.1%
Retribution Aura - 2.5%
Thorns - 1.4%
Lightning Bolt - 1.1%
...

Yeah, it shows up in your combat log as Lightning Bolt, FYI. The proc is okay, as abilities that weren't up all the time (Retribution Aura/Thorns) did more damage than the proc. Still, about 1% of a damage increase isn't bad in the least.

I finally got this and the Electrocutioner Leg to drop in the same gnome run. Use them together and you'll deal out a lot of nature damage.

Actually that shield is 7 levels higher and is only 800 armor better. 7 levels can be a very long time.

I just got it today, on my 9th run in a week looking for this. (I had EVERY other blue item drop off of mini-bosses and therma, except this drop at least once in the nine runs, no joke)

I combined this shield with anIron Shield Spike, and when I get crit, redoubt kicks in (prot/holy Pallys FTW) and fast attacking rogues and warriors should just give up.

This is actually the main boss in Gnomer.. he can be found at the very end, and is very difficult to get to if you don't know what you're doing (most groups wipe especially at the Dark Iron Dwarves part). The boss himself isn't that hard.

Check out the percent for it to proc. 5% is an awesome percent considering u dont have to block u just have to get hit then it will proc.

This Shield is no wear as good as The Heart Of Aggamagan, for anyone that is tanking that is. If a shammy uses it it would be....okay...

Put a mithril or thorium spike on it and you'll have a great leveling shield for the next 10 levels.

Get the Electrocutioner's Leg and put lifestealing on it.

BTW this thing DOES proc off ranged attacks.

Just got it on Sunday ran Gnomer with my brother's (66 Warrior) i'm still at level 29 but put it in the bank for now. I am currently running Warsong trying to get the Protector's Sword to use with this sheild. Must likely going to put Fiery on the sword.

Allright... this is a nice shield for any class that can use it. But - ONLY for Protection Spec- Paladins, is this AWESOME.

Paladins are the only shield-using class that can AOE grind. Shamans cannot, Warriors cannot.

You put on ret aura, prot spec with redoubt, reckoning, and that blessing of sanctuary - this shiled, with a spike will do MASSIVE damage to attackers. With seal of light, the mobs hitting you will heal you, and all your reflective damage, with this shield, will kill them so fast it will make you cry.

I have run gnomer 4 times now, still no drop. I'm dying to get it. It will last much longer than 10 levels, due to the reflective damage. That alone is worth more to an AoE pally than the other things.

At lvl 32, with this shield you can easily take on 5-6 mobs your level, at the same time, and walk away full health/mana. I do it without the shield, just takes a bit longer to kill them as I dont have the reflective damage from this shield. And yes, its the same proc as the epic 60 shield.

This shield is made for Prot Pallies, but is useful to any other shield-using class.

I slapped a Mithril Shield Spike onto it afterwards, and the reflective damage was quite impressive vs. 4-5 mobs.

If your any other kind of shield-wearer sure this shield might not look like much(whom want +stats), but to a Paladin it's a valuable asset that'll last quite some time.

i just ran this instance today and spent about 4 hours on it, and some stupid-ass mage hit need for it and WON. i got so pissed because we wiped about 20 times and even had to get a lvl 46 hunter at the end because someboedy even left. plus i hadn't gotten anything else, so me being a paladin and seeing this dropped, almost burst into tears when the only good item was needed and won by an idiot who didn't even know how to cast.

A nice lil shield for flag runners in 29 bracket. Slap on 18stm / 18block.. or just a felsteel spike :) Shield wall up and spam shield block :) da'da. Works everytime :P

Another flag runner board for 29 is Vile Protector. Less proc rate though :( Should be buffed to bluey Imo for such a long quest chain. Lol :)

CANNOT get BC chants on this Lol. yes, it has to be lvl 35+ ... however, if the requirement is lesser so, it has to be from a quest, which this shield is not :( But you still just slap a felsteel spike on it if you want to use it for pvp

lucky to have gotten it, all party members couldnt use shields and 45 warrior had something better (they were guildies) so they allowed me to have it. used it as my shield up until i reached 40 where i got Tyrant Shield. Nature Damage it inflicts on chance helps to pwn mobs faster :)

Well got this from Mekgineer Thermaplugg during the Grand Betrayal quest. This shield procs nicely and if ya adds Spikes well you're set as a MA for sure. Will bring be in my 40ies a long way:)

This shield often drops from the boss @ Gnomeregan.

I was the only warrior in the party when we ran Gnomeregan, and he dropped it so I was very lucky... :)
