It's true that in general people get too hung up on the idea that leather-wearers should never wear cloth, mail-wearers should never wear leather etc etc. This has about 30 less armor than an equivalent leather item, which is gonna make hardly any difference at all.

However in this specific case, dusky belt is much better suited to a rogue, and pretty easy for leatherworkers of around this level to create.

It is rarely on the AH because it is not on the lists of simple recipes that most guides to skill up Leatherworking consist of. Those list always tell the LW in a hurry to make X amount of Dark Leather Belts, Hillmans shoulders, Barbaric shoulders, Dusky Bracers, and so on. All the easy recipes that include only the simplest list of mats. Then the "LW-in-a-hurry" post all of the said belts, shoulders and bracers on the Auction house for dirt cheap. Then an enchanter-in-a-hurry comes along, buys up all the dirt cheap belts, shoulders and bracers, DEs them and posts the soul dusts and astral essences for dirt cheap.

Sad really, because there are a number of things that Leatherworkers make that sell well and others need, such as the Dusky Bracers.
