Best in slot pre-raid tank bracers for Pally and Warrior tanks. Better than any epic bracers without mastery. Perhaps this is the case for tanking DKs too, I'm not so well versed on DK stat priorities.

You simply cannot reasonably expect a total stranger to pass on a best in slot item.

There is nothing about these bracers that is specific to tanks or DPS. They are plate bracers, they are not specifically DPS bracers or specifically tank bracers. A tank rolling need on these is not ninjaing. It's him being smart about his own gearing priorities and making an intelligent decision. Loot is not "yours" just because you want it. Loot is only yours once it's in your bag.

This is actually better for prot paladins then Sandguard Bracers because of the mastery and the yellow socket (with 40 mastery gem) and 10 mastery bonus.

Actually they are not. From a post on the official wow forums i did not to long ago:

Not taking the DR from the armor into account here is the difference in DR between the two:

Using my stats as a model.

alpha bracers are: 162mastery rating or 2.03% block
Hit would give me 37 parry or increase my current parry to 1383parry or from 7.62 to 7.82% before diminishing returns. After DR this would be from 7.10% to 7.28% or an increase of 0.17364%

So total Damage reduction would be 2.04%*0.4+0.17%=0.987%

Now if i used the epic bracers my Damage reduction would be:

45mastery reforged from expertise+1552+190dodge=1742dodge
Block %:0.5648%
Dodge %:8.78% to 9.86% before DR and 8.06%to 8.91% or 0.8526%

Total DR: 1.07%

So for me the epic bracers would be better before the difference in hp or armor is ever factored in. Guess i was wrong the epics are better.

As you can see the epic rep bracers provide more damage reduction before armor is even taken into account. However, its by a very very small amount.

Well they're dps bracers.
If you have to tank with them don't ninja them from the DPS classes farming this heroic.

They are NOT DPS bracers. They are dps/tank bracers. It has both tank and dps stats on it. Simply put if it had haste or crit on them you could call them dps only bracers. If they had Dodge/parry on them they would be tank only. But since both mastery and hit are both dps and tank stats you can NOT call them dps bracers.

Any tank has a right to roll on them.

If you compare the Alpha Bracers to the Electron inductor coils N you'll see that there is a pretty heavy strength difference when gemmed. The Coils actually give you 38 less Str, being that for all plate DPS Str has over a 2:1 stat weight ratio to the runner up, it's safe to assume the Alpha Bracers are actually the Best in Slot.

This info pertains to DK specifically but I recommend using www.askmrrobot.com for confirmation.

The difference in mitigation is extremely minor. Before armor Its like 1 hits in 1000 more hits. If you have one i would not bother with the other.

Just so happens i had the avoidance/avoidance tank bracers and i found these to be a nice DR/threat increase. My main reason for commenting was to show that the alpha bracers were not "better." From a damage reduction point of view the epic bracers are better. Also come next patch when interrupts can not miss the expertise on the bracers will make them better than the hit on the alpha bracers as both hit and expertise will be threat only stats.

So if you are min/maxing the question becomes: Do i want to maximize Damage Reduction or Combat table coverage? Both have their pros and cons. I value total damage reduction over CTC personally but some tanks do not.

Just one thing i want to comment on here:

Avoidance-heavy tanks tend to take very spikey damage.

Depends on your definition of spikey damage. Avoidance reduces the number of spikes by increasing your mean time till a spike. Meaning someone who stacks avoidance would have a larger amount of time before before they receive 2-3 hits in a row (damage spike). Block does not affect the time between spikes but makes them less severe.

Avoidance: Less spikes
Mastery: Less severe spikes

Also (not directed to the person im replying too) why the downrate on my other post? Everything i said was true and relevant.
