Its been rummored all the new glyphs for the most part are world drops. They are book like items which are supposedly BOE. So look in AH for them if youre an inscriptionish wanting the recipe. As for us warlocks, be prepared to pay a hefty amount of gold for this glyph. Seeing as this is said to be a MUST HAVE for all warlock specs it will be in high demand, and only a few inscriptionist may have this right away. They, like anyone else with new stuff to sell, will want to make a fast chunk of gold before the AH is over run with them.

Picked up the glyph on my lock last night...waiting to try it out this evening.

Just casting Life Tap (Rank 1) procced:
Lightweave Embroidery - 250 Spell Power
Tier 4 Set Bonus - 300 Spirit
Glyph of Life Tap - 20% Spirit as Spell Power

I had an increase of 534 Spell Power from those procs all combined

Can't wait to try it out in raid this evening. An amazing glyph. Hope they leave it alone and don't nerf it.

This glyph is of much <3 to an Affliction Lock imo :D

And this was downrated why? Affliction has the best spell power scaling, which makes this glyph best (or 2nd best ) for Affliction locks.

Tested this one against https://www.wowhead.com/mop-classic/item=42453 for hours, with this one life tapping once every 15sec, and going several times oom and life tap till full mana back with https://www.wowhead.com/mop-classic/item=42453, I must say that the glyph of incinerate gives me more dps than this one, in a deep destro build 3/13/55, I have 558 spirit what makes this give me 558x0.2=111,6 sp, maybe on really long fights this will be better, but after going 3 times oom, life tap full back, or life tap every 15 sec I must say I rather have glyph of incinerate.

OK, what's the big deal with the glyph of life tap now? I've read several 4.0 posts for destruction warlocks that say the glyph of life tap is the way to go...long and detailed stickied posts, and I just don't get it. As a destruction (or any other) warlock, why would 1/2 second off a life tap be more valuable than the glyph of soul link (hand off 5% more damage to your pet that you don't take), or more valuable than the glyph of soulstone? If someone is rezzed in a raid, or PvP, an extra 40% health seems a great deal more valuable than 0.5 seconds saved in a low use spell. I'd take the glyph of shadowflame or the glyph of healthstone before the glyph of life tap any day.

If I'm missing something, someone please fill me in, and explain in detail with reasoning.

Shadowflame glyph would be useful for PvP, whether to peel someone off a healer/teammate or to have a way to slow a rogue/warrior/dk/pally without having to use Shadowfury or Curse of Exhaustion.

Now, this glyph rocks because although this doesn't give us an sp boost anymore (through the old Fel Armor mechanic), we can life tap A LOT faster now and faster life taps means more time dpsing, worrying about haunt/hand of guldan/conflag cd's, soulburn, etc.

This glyph may be useful if you're raiding, as you save precious time when using Life Tap, filling in an offensive spell during the time saved by that glyph. However, if you're doing 5 mans only, you won't need this glyph. The fights are too short, you usually only use Life Tap when proceeding to the next trash group or boss, so it doesn't matter if your Life Tap has a bigger global cooldown. As I'm doing 5 mans only, I use Glyph of Soulsone instead (in addition to Glyph of Soul Link and Glyph of Shadow Bolt).

In Mists of Pandaria this glyph has changed again.

OLD: Glyph of Life Tap - Reduces the global cooldown of your Life Tap by 0.5 sec.
NEW: Glyph of Life Tap - Your Life Tap no longer consumes health, but instead absorbs (($MHP * 0.15)) healing received. This effect stacks. The absorb lasts 30 sec.

in 5.0, the debuff received by life tapping is called "Life Tap." it absorbs healing equal to the mana regained and lasts 30 seconds.

without the glyph, life tapping in a raid even just once usually prompts all of the healers to overheal the crap out of you since it looks like you're taking damage. with the glyph, the amount of aoe healing being done is likely more than enough to compensate for the debuff without sending the healers into a mana-wasting frenzy. of course, there will be situations where you have to be careful of when to life tap, just like always.

however, if you're in a situation where you're not being hit very often, like questing with a pet or a fight with no raid damage, the mana gained from this glyph will end up being free. after the 30 second debuff falls off, so does the healing absorb, so you gained the mana back at no life cost.

edit: also, eating does not count as a heal. if you're low health and low mana (like after a res), you can life tap all your mana back, and then eat to fill your health.

Stack up to a total of 4 000 000 healing absorb. After that you are "fizzled".

Just to point out that Destruction warlocks do NOT have Life Tap - so this glyph is useless for Destruction.

Adding that this glyph is good on Boss fights where you do not expect to be taking any damage - that way you can cheaply get away by simply not needing any healing, which makes the anti-heal absorb effect rather harmless.

However, do try to avoid using this glyph on fights that have intense raid damage - the absorption shield might get so high that it prevents a healer's healing from saving your life...
