Useless I say no... Primary choice for a weapon again I say no. My main toon is and will always be my Warrior tank this has stam but none else. But on either my Rogue or Hunter alt I can see this as being one of the alternate weapons. Being in the Navy I cant always be there to tank for my guild so I start raiding as a DPS when it gets close to time for my ship to deploy in order to still be there and coach those that will be tanking in my place. Now the new raids I have not seen but take for example Morose in Kara. Many time's I have been the only tank using a Rogue as the one to keep morose busy while stunned. This item with CRIT AP and STAM for the rogue there is perfect. And when I raid with my Hunter I stand by the healer. Something gets away from tank (hey we are not all paladins) and heads for healer I have macroed swap of weapons to high stam weapons and switch into aspect of monkey. Distracting shot and yay now its mad at me and the healer can continue to do his job. So again another perfect place for an alternate high stam crit and AP weapon.

Any thoughts on using this as a threat weapon for warrior tanks? Has good stamina, weapon speed for heroic strike spam, and dps bonuses. Might be worth a look if you're at the uncrittable cap and are looking for a way to squeeze out a little more threat.

Not that expensive for such a high-quality weapon, if you ask me

This weapon isn't a complete waste of mats if you are desperate an/or impatient. It seems that a lot of the weapon speeds have been increased since so much WoTLK gear has a great deal of haste on it, which for a rogue spec such as sub or combat sword is fine.

-If you went combat fist / dagger you would certainly end up replacing this with a 1.5 or 1.4 speed dagger in offhand.
-If you wanted to use it for mutilate it would be mediocre at best as stated vehemently above that the speed is just plain awkward.

Ugg, either my filter settings arent working or Blizz has really dropped the ball on itemizing, this is the ONLY non-drop/non-pvp OH epic for shamans? that sucks for people like me who have lots of solo playtime but can never get into heroics/raids regularly enough to farm.

Everyone here seems to be saying that this dagger is bad simply because of how well it performs in PvE raids. Why isn't anyone bringing up how good it is in PvP! I've made a rogue alt after reaching full epics on my main and now I can craft this for my alt. My alt is only going to be focusing on PvP so is this dagger good for that? What sort of Ambush crits and hits and backstab crits can you pull off with this baby?

This weapon is pretty nice if you're randomly a rogue with mining, I have one of the TS bars already and I'm level 76. The cost of the mats might be prohibitively expensive on the AH, but if you have them anyways it would be worth getting. IMO this weapon isn't really worth buying the materials, there are better things out there with much less cost (blues even).

I use it for PvP on my rogue and get 8-10k ambushes and 3-5k backstabs with 3k ap.

Great dagger for a new lvl 80 combat dagger or Mutilate speced rogue, save u the time to either buy Rolfsen's Ripper or raiding for one. Way too expensive in AH, atleast on my realm, get mats and have a BlackSmith make u one, should cost around 1k-1.5k gold.

Why are the stats on this so much lower than the mace? https://www.wowhead.com/mop-classic/item=41383 less stm, AP, and no expertise. But you get 23crit. Just looks weak to me. I never play dagger rogue so it may be a talent reason. Been doing just fine with swd, fist, mace. Not seeing any reason to change here.

I want to downrate all the posts that are hating on this weapon simply because it's all outdated.

Again for those that missed it, poisons are frequency based now (much like trinkets) which means that the more powerful your weapon is per-hit (so basically slower weapons), the more DPS you'll be doing.

The Spinal Destroyer/Dagger of the Rising Moon from the Argent Tournament is better as a Main Hand, but this is still pretty damn good.

A great starter for any rogue that's gonna PvP or PvE. Easy to get and it works good.

sadly, it's Unique-Equipped, so can get 2 good daggers 5 min after u ding 80,
but the Spinal Destroyer do u recieve from the argent tournament for 25 Champion's Seal.
U can start to collect the Apirant's Seal at lvl 77 i think, or after u trained Cold Weather Flying from a trainer in Sholazar Basin or Dalaran.

Don't know if it's 77 or after u have trained Cold Weather found my mail after training, but maybe i didnt notice the mail before i trained.

It takes 8 days to get to Champion,

15 Apirant's Seal, 5/day.

25 Valiant's Seal Also 5/day

And then u have to collect 25 of the Champion'seal that i mentioned above, and i'm not sure about how many u get each day if u do all the dailys.

I got 16 Seals after my first day as champion on my DK, but i don't know if there's any quests chain u do before the "Champion dailies" that give Seals, If not can u have it in 10 days after 77.

Since weapon speeds are normalized (for daggers) to 1.7 for special abilities, why would the speed of the weapon matter at all for MH Mutilate?

Acctually i think for a fresh 80 guy thhis is perfect as and off=hand to pair up with this HC drop as a main hand for a balanced multilate with no great gear, best in slot for a starter in offhand imo, librarian paper cutter is aswell a good pick for an offhand(since it can even pair with this one as main-hand o_O). If you just got level 80 and got about 700-1000gold to spare for a weapon thats the pick(dont forget u can just go combat with drops from malganis and OS ^_^).
