The reason this helm goes for a reasonably large amount of gold is due to the rarity of helms at this level range.

For Druids and Shaman casters, leather helms are especially rare - this being one of the very few at this level until approx. lvl 40.

For DPS Druids, Rogues and Hunters, https://www.wowhead.com/mop-classic/item=6720 is a quest reward which is attainable fairly easily.

Not worth the gold people put them on the AH for. OMG, wow a lower lvl helm that I'm just going to replace in 2 levels. Lets buy it for 100g, people wonder why they just sit there in the AH.

For a resto druid or balance spec it isnt too bad if you have money to burn i've seen it for as little as 25G.
