A reference to the classic (and a personal favourite) video game series CastleVania, in which the protagonists use all the weapons you find in this bag to defeat vampires, zombies, and other monsters. Karazhan itself is also heavily based on the series; the fact that there is an "inverted Karazhan" (as said in the novels) is a reference to the inverted version of Dracula's castle in CastleVania: Symphony of the Night. Also, the boss you need to kill to obtain this item is a vampire inside Karazhan, who also drops a bat pet; the protagonist in Symphony of the Night, Alucard (Dracula's son), could summon a bat to aid him in battle.

When you use the trinket, you throw one of these items at your enemy: Monster Slayer's Dagger, Monster Slayer's Axe, Monster Slayer's Symbol or Monster Slayer's Holy Water.

I've been testing this trinket a bit and here are the results:

I used the trinket 19 times. Total damage was 9211. This equals to ~8.080 dps.

Monster Slayer's Dagger: Thrown 6 - damage 2987 - average 497.8333... physical damage.
Monster Slayer's Axe: Thrown 4 - damage 2480 - average 620 physical damage.
Monster Slayer's Holy Water: Thrown 6 - damage 1958 - average 326.333... holy damage.
Monster Slayer's Symbol: Thrown three - damage 1786 - average 595.333... holy damage.

I tested this on the Spectral Apparitions outside the gates of Stormwind. I also noticed that when you use the trinket and run at the same time it uses the cooldown but doesn't do anything, giving the error message "You can't do that while moving". The DPS in this trinket is bad and I can't really see any other use for this than playing around with it.

EDIT: More testing: The holy water indeed has a 3 yard radius. Both Holy Water and Symbol can be resisted partially. All the items have 0.5s casting time and it will use the cooldown if you try to run while using the trinket.

Seems likely that it's Mirkblood's collection of items left behind by past would-be vampire slayers, but can someone confirm if this has any additional effect against scourge or plague zombies/zombied players?

The fact that this is one big Castlevania reference is reason enough for some people to use it. The four items produced by this trinket correspond with four of the most commonly reoccuring subweapons from the game series- throwing knives, throwing axes, holy water, and a cross (the "holy symbol").

I'm curious if the individual effects behave like the Castlevania equivalents- if the knife is a long-range weapon, the holy water AoEs, the 'cross' has some kind of boomerang effect, etc.

One of possible uses is for pulling, although situational at best. The effective range on this one is 30 yards and works on any type of mob with 1 minute cd. Obviously the only possible class that could benefit thereof are non-prot paladins since their pulling arsenal is limited. Holy Shock's range is 20 yards for healadins whereas retadins' only means of pulling is the 10 yard judgement (amounts to a body pull). Even tankadins could use it in a remote possibility of needing to hit only 1 non-undead mob during a pull.

lul i tried this on a lvl 6 boar and it threw holy water which was only enough dmg to half the boars hp -.-

A few weeks ago I was scouring the wowheads for some information on a good item to pull mobs with, in situations that my tools as a Retribution Paladin simply do not allow. As if to answer that question, here is arguably the best 'pulling' trinket in the game. It's one minute cooldown is not ideal, but it is better than anything else I've come across, and it's also pretty fun to play with to boot. This will stay in my backpack forever or until they give Retribution a real pull ability.

I certainly wouldn't say it's the best pulling trinket, https://www.wowhead.com/mop-classic/item=23836 is far superior for one thing. Granted this doesn't require you to have engineering but since it's a reward from a limited time world event it's shortly going to become impossible to obtain. Plus there's plenty of other items that can allow for pulling such as https://www.wowhead.com/mop-classic/item=18588

It's a shame mana tap was removed though, best pulling skill for Retribelfs.

It's a trinket and you can click it to do a ranged attack - think Link's Boomerang - range is pretty good, probably on par with a bow so nice toy for people with no or limited range attacks (ie/pallies).

So far this item seems useless in Classic TBC/Wrath prepatch. It either takes too long to go off or it just does nothing. Not impressed, even though I know it's just a toy. I used it twice and didn't get the tag on the targeted mobs.
