This item will fill a large hole in combat sword itemiseation outside of pvp we now have a good viable offhand blade pre black temple as pre 2.3 our only offhand ouside of pvp whas larios shifting sword that is just not good enough for 25 man raids.

This is a great item that most casual raiding rogues will have a chance to get. In my opinion this is better than the s3 offhand sword, mostly due to the haste rating.

I have to say, this weapon is pretty nice looking as a tanking weapon upgrade from the King's Defender. Obviously I'd be letting Sword Rogues get first crack at the Talonblade, and Cleaver of the Unforgiving off Zul'jin is a much better tanking weapon, but until we drop him and he drops it this sword's blazing speed and nice AP should keep my threat level high and my DPSers happy.

This is the giant crazy troll tooth pick from hell, I have this and the Umbral Shiv and I am a candidate for the ugliest weapon combo. This sword looks like a huge peice of bamboo holding a carved sharp peice of wood at the end of it. Even has a few different glows to it like zuljin used to pick his teeth with it.

This is an excellent threat-oriented tanking weapon for a paladin.

It is fast, so Seal of Vengeance stacks will build quickly. The haste rating is almost immaterial by itself (How many tanks wear haste gear?), but can't hurt.
It has a high innate DPS, so Hammer of the Righteous will hit hard.
It has a very large attack-power bonus, so Hammer of the Righteous, Consecration, Avenger's Shield, and other threat-building abilities will benefit.
It has a solid amount of stamina.

I replaced Quickening Blade of the Prince with the Talonblade, and use it instead of Heartless (more stamina and same DPS, but much slower and smaller attack-power bonus) or The Decapitator (critical-strike bonus and the neat use effect, but no stamina or attack-power bonuses and a lower DPS). The enchantment is, as always, Potency.

Why would that make any difference? It's a good one-handed melee DPS weapon, and DKs can dual-wield. I see no reason for that to stop a DK. Now, MAYBE, and I repeat, MAYBE, if you had said something about the SPEED (1.50...not the best for a DK...), then you'd have a point. But otherwise, that's nothing more than a discriminate comment towards DKs (if you ask me, it implies DKs can't do lvl 70 raids, but w/e) that should be downrated. I have no idea why other people uprated it.

If I'm wrong, please, tell me. I'd love to hear why, but otherwise, don't downrate me just because I'm standing up for the class that you hate most.

This weapon apparently returned as a revamp with the words slightly redone. As Talonblade of Akil'zon. the owner of he blade is also referenced as Akil'amon. (Likely a ancestor)

This is a beautiful blade, but the Season 2 quickblade still beats it, and requires less than 1000 arena points. A shame, but basically this will just be for show while walking around, but go back in the bag for raiding because Blizz failed to buff it slightly above a far easier off-hand weapon to acquire.

I will note though, that if you are hit-capped (highly unlikely if you are just doing ZA content), then this blade does beat out the S2 weapon.

Being a fury warrior looking at this it says to me "Combat sword OH all the way".

Since 2.3 the benefit of a fury warrior using a slow OH has greatly in creased from the buff to WW. Sword rogues will simply get ALOT more benefit from using this as there offhand than what we would.

Until mother sharaz drops her offhand in BT your rogue wont need to replace this.

Considering the ease of access rogue's have to the S2 arena OH sword, this isn't an easy choice. If you are a rogue that is going to stack haste effects thru meta gem, BoJ gloves and pants, etc, then yes this is amazing. If not this isn't a great choice. Probably better going to your tank if he doesn't have Mallet of the Tides or better yet. His stamina won't suffer and the extra TPS easily outweighs the loss of dmg mitigation/avoidance if using Sun Eater or King's Defender.

Well just wanted to chime in and say that in my guild due to the fact that S2 OH weapons are indeed superior statwise for rogues this baby has become the tank weapon of choice for trash and encounters where avoidance//mitigation take second place to high aggro generation.

Hard to go wrong aggro wise with a weapon that is faster than the GCD for warriors.

Using elitestjerks gear spreadsheet i just plugged in this sword and the merciless quickblade and the quickblade is a tiny bit bettter for my build and probably for most everyone also. It is sad I think this one should be better by maybe 2-3 dps.

so..get the badge loot haste gear and the za haste gear..and youl own the dps list..i know so cuz i only have 2-3 haste pieces and its a big difference

It's not necessarily a bad MH weapon for a dps warrior to swap to inside of execute range. Certainly better than a lot of the other alternatives for execute weapons.

70 NE Rogue I choose to use the merc glad sword as I have found that it is better for me for raiding. If my hit was capped then I can understand this being better b/c of the increased AP and haste benefit for Combat Potency. However, I enjoy the hit/crit and slightly better damage I get from my merc glad. I carry this just b/c sharding it seemed such a waste and I was the only one in the group that could really get any use out of it. As soon as I get the warp spring coil and the poison vial, I may give this sword a shot and see what the DPS diff turns out to be. To be continued.....

The group I run ZA with had plenty of healers and wanted some more dps. So I took my Alt rogue I had got to 70 maybe 1 week before. Had glads shiv, emerald ripper and steelhawk from a kara run just before. I came in, this dropped, and no one else wanted.

Though I like combat daggers more, I like to keep this and my green mh out when i'm AFK in org.

Seems like an alright blade, although i tend to like the S2 weps better.. which is a shame really (i know others have already said this) but i mean the drops here should be at least somewhat better.

But i would like to ask a question concerning fury wars as well in this post, i have seen lately alot of wars going for the slow MH AND OH now adays instead of the traditional slow MH/fast OH. So which is better? And i mean this coming from a person that enjoys doing a bit of everything (raiding, instances, PVP).

When I first went through, I had been a fresh 70, had some decent gear, (Blinkstrike MH, Latros Shifting OH) went in and was litterally the next dps after the tank. Given I was raiding with people that had been raiding for alot longer then me, mostly full epics. Anyhow, I also got this on my first run through ZA. I immediately threw on Mongoose and went full combat for the next ZA raid. I went from the next DPS over the tank to litterally number 2 DPS in the raid. I would also like to say this is a great alternative to the S2-S3 Swords for people who don't feel like doing arena's all the time and want to focus on PvE instead. Seeing how much this OH weapon brought my DPS up, from the 71.8 Latro's, I think I'm gunna do a little PvP to get my Welfair Epix MH Gladiator's Slicer as I can not stand the fact that my Blinkstrike has no stats and the proc rate CLEARLY does not make up for the loss in stats.
