Actually this is by far far far the best shield ingame.
But it does not make sense at all. Consider that Azzinoth was a doomguard commander fighting for the Burning Legion during the War of the Ancients. He was wielding a pair of warglaives, better known as the legendary "Twin Blades of Azzinoth".

What sense would a shield make in combination to that?

29 Defense Rating translates into 12.267 Defense Skill. Because the game only counts defense skill points as whole numbers you can forget the 0.267 unless you're at XXX.733 or more. (The game won't show the decimals though)
In other words, round the 12.267 down to just 12 Defense Skill. This then means you gain 0.48% dodge, parry and block. That's 0.96% total avoidance.

Just in case you're not getting the general idea from the screenshot- this thing is HUUUUGE. It's about the same size (slightly shorter, but bigger width and thicker) as the tower shields the guards in Silvermoon City use.

It looks like a demonic riot shield, now that I think about it.

From comparing this and Kaz'rogal's Hardened Heart, it seems to me that the kazrogal sheild is better, at least for a warrior. At first glance I had no doubt in my mind this was better, but considering the one minute CD on the proc, it makes it very iffy. Compared to the kazrogal shield you gain 406 armor, 2 stam, 14 BV, and one def rating - all of which are very minimal gains, especially at the BT/Hyjal level. But you lose that 1.33% hit which is very nice. IMO a hidden CD is a good idea to keep this from being too OP, but if it was brought down to 30 or 45 secs then it would be undeniably better. Right now the only thing (to me) that is better about this shield is that it looks awesome, and matches warrior T6.

Despite the spelldata and despite what people have said, there is currently no internal cooldown on the proc. I got it yesterday and WWS recorded it proccing once on a three minute Gruul, and then today I tested it by letting ogres hit me in the back for 15 minutes or so. Here's a sample of occurrences of me gaining the buff according to the combat log:

I remember seeing it refresh itself at least twice in the session. Granted, this is not a fair representation of how much it'll proc for you on average, because with 60% or so avoidance you're going to be giving it far fewer opportunities to proc. But that aside, there is definitely no internal cooldown.

This is just a guess, but I believe the Bulwark of Azzinoth is actually one of Azzinoth's Shoulder Armor pieces, but since Azzinoth was so huge, regular players use it like a shield.

This shield is a good example of a shield looking like one. Pretty much all shields prior to this are small bucklers and weird gnomish constructs. In my opinion, Blizzard should strive to further add shields of this magnitude to the game. With this one, the term "shield block" does ring a bell, whereas all the others seem like a bad joke. Try blocking e.g. Illidan's glaive with a buckler.

This shield is complete trash when it comes to the proc. I pulled both sides of black temple near Xi'ri ( literally 100+ mobs ), and it proc'd one time.

This is a combat log of all the procs over the course of a raid night of clearing trash to kalecgos, boss fight and a gruuls lair clear ( some people still need dst -_- )

The Bulwark of Azzinoth is considered the third best shield in the game with The Sword Breakers Shield being the best one, and the Brutal Gladiator's Shield Wall being the second best one. At the EU EN PvE realm called Silvermoon they sell this shield for 10'000 gold if it drops with their tier 6 selling runs, considering you can obtain a green level 75 shield with 7900 armor in Wrath of the Lich King which will release in the nearest months, it's practically stupid to pay that load of gold for it. Other then that it's a very nice and good looking shield /bows in respect to everyone that has it or lost the roll for it.

Okey just a thought here... If this where the breastplate or the shoulder pad, and thus is so huge that you can use it as a shield that's bigger then you. How would you then explain the warglaives?
You don't see them being enormus do you? As they would have been if something that big where using them as a weappon.
They are what, a little longer then this shield? If you have a sword as long as your shoulder pad it would be a dagger now wouldn't it?

The Bulwark being a shoulder pad/chest plate is a very good idea, but you must also consider this..That this could have very well been azzinoth's shield. Cause if i remember right, lore-wise the glaives can be fuse together into one blade, thuse a sword and shield combo.

One of the few sets that actually matches quite well with this shield is Judgement Recolour.

Warrior Tier5 and Paladin Tier5 sadly don't match the colour at all.
(Warrior T5 is Brown and Darkbrown, Paladin T5 is Blue Grey and Gold)
Sunward Crest Looks nice with Paladin T5 Tho.
If you know any other sets that look good with this, please post em. I am looking for more.

Can't help but wonder if it was part of Patch 2.1.2's Art Upgrades. As cool as a giant slab of metal with spikes on it is, I wouldn't be quick to call it epic enough to go with the fact that it drops off what's currently one of the strongest bosses in the game, if not the strongest.

lets say u get hit once every 2 seconds while tanking. that would mean 5 hits in 10 seconds and 50 hits in 100 seconds (50 hits is the average of what it take for the proc to go off). the proc lasts 10 secs which mean u will have it 10 out of every 100 seconds aka 10% of the time. this would mean an avereage of 200 armor gained (2000/10) which aint awesome, but still nice.

and also, the shield pwns so OMFG IMBA in itself so who cares :D

You do know that this shield will scale down to the size of a gnome. It will niot be the same size as it is for a blood elf, human, night elf, or anything else. the size will be that of a gnome.
