A very easy to obtain helm that is very good. I finally replaced my Helm of Endless Rage with this and I couldn't be happier.

In fact this helm's two closest competitors, the Doomplate Warhelm https://www.wowhead.com/mop-classic/item=28225 and Exorcist's Plate Helm https://www.wowhead.com/mop-classic/item=28559 aren't any better, and are only competative because of their metagem sockets.

The questline to get this helm is a fun one, and a quick one, a group of 5 70's can easily do this in an hour.

looks great, great stats, great equip stats, three sockets, good socket bonus, and is relatively easy to get.

Got this on my warrior and am loving it.

Blizzard really hit the nail on the head for BC Quest rewards, much better than getting a crappy blue from a non-instance chain quest in Azeroth.

This is the best Fury/MS pre-Raid helm in the game for a Warrior if you socket it with 3 +8 strength gems. Ignore the socket bonus, it's not worth using a blue gem if you're trying to optimize DPS.

i wetnt 2 x 3str 3crit then the 3sta 4 crit from hellfire.
cost all of 5g in gems and 10mins work. gives me 6str + 10crit (0.45%). The helm is great but i only sink blue quality into epics, for the simple fact i cant afford 60g+ per slot per every upgrade i get.
also im very fond of crit as a stat, specially as ms. i lean more towards crtit then ap.

About the quest:

To obtain you have to go through a series of quests. As Necc said it starts with the first chain "A Hounted History" that you can obtain from Shadowmoon Valley, -Shadowmoon Village- for Horde, -Wildhammer Stronghold- for Alliance. the last three quests that are named "Divination-Gorefiend's Armor" that requires a -healer, tank, DPS group. "Divination-Gorefiend's Cloak" -that you can obtain from -Clerics of Karabor- It's a rare drop but i got it in a little time. Finally the last quest "Divination-Gorefiend's Truncheon" is obtained from the Karabor Riders. This quest is soloable for mages & hunters. Especially hunters.

What vietxquanstah said is true couse i'm a fire spec mage and fire relies on crit more than frost and this can be a 36 crit rating helm with the right gems.

Divination: Gorefiend's Armor is on the island Southeast of SMV. This means you either need to have your flying mount to get this, or make friends with a warlock.

Sadly to say, but this helm is still the one of which u r going to pump as much crit as possible, I have pumped it with 2x smooth dawnstone and jagged talasite. T4 helm is nothing compared to this one's crit possibility :S For fureys yea, T4 is good, even after patch it's buffed, but for MS... I'd go for it only cuz I'm tired of this one after having it for 3 months or so..

Easily the Overlord's Helmet for a Fury-specced warrior. You simply cannot replace the hit and crit rating on this. I'm still wearing mine while waiting for my T4 helm or a Fel-Steel Warhelm.

Im debating over getting the PvP High Warlord helm and save up for the Merciless plate chest as my second piece of the set or if i should keep this helm but i'm not sure whether or not this helm is comparable to the PvP helmet as i am a warrior specced 33/28 and i think the stats and sockets when socketed in the right direction on the PvP helm overpowers this helm in an offensive defense (resillience/armor/health) advantage over the slight crit chance on this helm. if someone could post some feedback that would be great.

I think that it is great for PvP with that much stamina and I only lose out on the +hit rating for my Paladin

For PvE, you'd lose a lot of hit going from Overlord to the gladiators, but you'd gain a meta gem (which can be used for Relentless earthstorm for more damage) if you can handle losing the hit. The Warbringer seems better for PvE.

For PvP, the gladiator's more stamina and resiliance make it king. You don't need much hit for pvp so that doesn't effect calculations much here.

So, in conclusion, it seems like blizzard did their job here, the PvP helm is better for pvp, and the pve helm is better for pve...

Looking very spiffy on the Taurens. Looks like they are wearing on those "lamp shade" collars that you put on animals to keep them from scratching/biting themselves or maybe a spike collar gone horribly wrong.

This helm is the stupidest looking helm for this level i've ever seen, by far. What makes it even more frustrating is that all of the other helms from this quest (the leather, mail ones, etc.) all look amazing and completely bada*s. This looks like a cross between a a teenager's headgear and a neckbrace. No idea what the designers were thinking on this one. The pvp helm is in the same boat but not as bad.

i actually kind of dig it.

it's a ring of big spikes around your head
warchief mantle = two big spikes on the shoulders
netherwing shield = two curled horns behind the shoulders

nice effect with all three equipped. when you're a warrior used to looking like rainbow brite, you take all the coordination you can get ;)

This is a good helm for whatever you choose to apply it too, simply because you can customize it with 3 slots. 3 stam orientated gems for PvP, or pure DPS gems for PvE. Like the other SMV helms, this one doesn't disappoint.

Any item that doesn't have a level requirement is a quest reward.

Incidentally, this quest basically unlocks all of Shadowmoon to you since many of the mobs and NPCs can't be seen without the spectacles you get from this quest or the helmet from the final stage.

Starts off from a quest in Shadowmoon Village in Shadowmoon Valley. An undead female apothicary gives you "Spectracles" to see ghosts within Shadowmoon Village and you kill 15 of them. Then you get a quest to visit "Ancient Shadowmoon Spirit". You do 3 quests for him; Divination: Gorefiend's Armor, Divination: Gorefiend's Traunchen, Divination: Gorefiend's Cloak. Then when you turn those all in you get possessed by The Ancient Shadowmoon Spirit who is actually Teron Gorefiend. You get a pet bar and you controll Teron and kill a Draenai who runs by to fight you. Basically all you have to do is keep the powerword shield ability that he has on him at all times and you shouldn't go beneath 90% health. Then after you do this the quest tells you to go back to the Apothicary person back in Shadowmoon Village and then you get your choice between this and 5 other helms (one for each class).

This is a quest reward in shadowmoon valley. You can pick it up from an npc in shadowmoon village (his name escapes me) but I know they quest involves picking up ash piles. The ending part you will need to have a flying mount for (or at least a lock to summon you) because there is a floating piece of land called the netherwing edge that you have to fight a big-ass dragon on. He looks a lot like Onyxia.

the Quest starts in The Town you have to talkwith a Draenei with Pink ''Judgement''gear

These Quests are eligable in level 67 i think..

its 3 Quests at the end you have to get hes chest cloak and staff,these Quests are not eligable Before level 68..and at the end u get to be a orc warlock with Tier 5 :p..

and you will need a lock if you not are 70 with Flying mount.

Too clear up some things.

Retribution paladin has been flamed and been played for months now, thing is here's the truth it really come down to this:

Gear:

Race:

Spec:

and skill.

Yes, you can go ahead and say "Paladins can't dps" With the right Ret DPS spec, and gear, they can have around 60-70% of the total DPS, depending on instances. And save your group from a few wipes with a heal every now and then. Yes, there's alot of idiot retribution paladins, but just tell them to learn2play ret spec.

Too all you ret paladins. Yes, RET spec is nice in PvP, well it was kinda made for PvP even though it is a bit nerfed, no. You can't pwn anyone, don't just say it cause you think you're tough. Fight them in-game armory them or shush. Making threats over the internet is pretty stupid.

1: Paladins that are ret need alot of Stamina strength and crit chance in PvP. like 9k in PvP at 70 (Providing you have okay / great gear.) and 5-6k mana and 20.00% Crit chance in melee.

2: +Spell damage helps, but +crit / +agility should be ontop of that- if you can get it.

3: In PvE as a retribution paladin trying to dps, max out of +Agility and +crit rating, you're suppose to be behind mobs attacking not standing infront of them thinking you have 14k health.

4: Despite what many people say, Ret is mainly a PvP spec that has to be played by a good geared person who's good at playing to make a diffrence.

I know all you "retnoob" haters probably will flame me or hate me for saying this. But it's true, ret can DPS, just usually not anymore then a class like warlock who's not an idiot. But they can DPS if they know what they're doing. =]

Great warrior helm for furys and to a lesser extent arms. Socketed correctly this is the best non-epic warrior u will find. I got it at 68, i am now 70 and have a blue/epic gear base and this is my helm. I find it funny seeing pallies with this helm. MUCH better ret gear than this.

Comment to the person who had the kindness to point out that retribution paladins can DPS. I recently switched to retribution when the warriors finally got their act together. It was hard at first, with all this protection gear and all, but after a few Gruuls, Karazhan, and Serpentshrine, I now on average get 3rd on the DPS meter. All it takes is some skill with the spec, and the right gear.

Ummm People weren't really complaining, they were replying to the Pally who said that they needed a pally equiv for this quest reward. They are right, there was a lot more pally gear than warr in the quest rewards.

Im a DPS fury warrior and Im still using this helm even after running khara. WE dont tank so Armor means less to us. This helm is made for fury and MAYBE arms and is a sick reward. +hit and + crit with sockets made for +crit and +hit gems! Anyhow, until you get arena equiv or T4 helm for DPS you wont find better for FURY. Geared right a fury warrior can out-DPS almost any class. Maybe not an epicced out Lock.

On the Pally DPS thing, Ive seen Ret pallies do great dmg, but what I was amazed by was the job a Prot Pally can do Tanking Khara day one. His aggro control was insane and his damage was sick and he was tanking!

This helm is good for warriors and pallys. It is true that there's alot of gears there that are geared for pally, however warrior can still wear pally's gears as much as pally can wear warriors gears. Just use your better judgement if that pally gears is better than your gear then wear it. The problem with this is if there's a warrior and a paladin in a group running instance, pally might have an upper hand than warrior when it comes to "needing" items. I myself has a pally alt toon lvl 68, prot spec, I consider myself as a backup tank for warriors, though I am spec to tank, warior always have the upper hand as the main tank. Bottom line, any class has to have the right gears to be successful at end games or pvp.

The best part about this helm is you can actually wear a real helm now while fighting ghosts in SMV, instead of the spectracles. That alone makes it worth getting.
