This, in combination with the Shard of the Virtuous (https://www.wowhead.com/mop-classic/item=28522) makes one of the best healing combinations in the game.

This item is obtained by gaining exalted reputation with the Cenarion Expedition, so druids have yet another reason to get exalted with CE (the first being Earthwarden). Would be great for priests as well, but they have fewer other reasons to get exalted with this faction.

This healing off-hand is good for +heal and a little bit bigger mana pool, but it has so-so +spirit, no mp5s, and none of the "underrated attribute": stamina.

The Lamp of Peaceful Repose (from Dalliah in Arcatraz, https://www.wowhead.com/mop-classic/item=28387) has more +int, some mp5s, and some +stam, all for trading in some spirit and +heal. I think it is a better choice for when you can't avoid damage (Gruul's et al.).

Claiming something is the "best" is ignorant.

And that combo to say the least is bad.

OH healing items that are NOT sheilds will typicly be weilded by priests or druids (since shamans and pally prefur to use the shield since they have the same stats for the most part and give them chance to block and mitigate far more dmg because of the armor).

So that means, Pally/Shamans will want a MH/Sheild typicly (not always, but with how items are, they should.)

A MH with spirit will typicly be a priest/druid
A MH with MP/5 with typicly be pally/shaman
This is due to how there mana regen works and to play off all there other gear...

OH thats a sheild... well only a Pally/Shaman can use, so they will typicly pass up non-shields to better there chances with the sheild. (They will only take a non-sheild if it's that much better it's now godly, epic greedy).

Staves will usually go to priests/druids since they typicly have +spirit on them.

So I did all that why? Shard is an mp/5 item... this OH is a spirit item. Yes you can mix them HOWEVER. When items are given there stats, those numbers get factored into it's item level. So if a shaman/pally took this they would actually be hurting themselves, since they would pay for the +spirit on the item but gain little to nothing from it. Were as the sheild they'd probably have, will give them mp/5 like they want.

And if a druid/priest picks up shard, they don't get as much of a cost to them. However, the druid will see less effective healing (not sure about priest, as I don't fully know there armory of spells and how they function). But a druid in tree form will benefit from the +spirit from say the Lights Justice ( https://www.wowhead.com/mop-classic/item=28771 )whichwill give them a boost to there +healing.

Overall, yes basicly any healer can nab any healing item (so long as they can use it), however that doesn't mean they should. Correct itemization will return better results in your overall performance, and will get you "in" better with you fellow healers, especially if there guildies. (Example, after months of Kara I still havnt won the Shard, but a new resto druid we take in, will pass on the shard for me, and vice versa if the light drops first I will pass it on to him, and thus we have a mutual understanding of proper itemization and not wasting gear, stats, or itemlevel points and we both end the day happy)

The voodoo shaker seems like a better OH to me. And not that much more difficult to get. You can always find a group for heroic something and grinding Steamvault is dull. :p

And Kara drops badges like mad now.

Dude... what the @#$%. Itemization is so screwed up in this game. 2 blues are better than this $%^&. Come on Blizzard. These are supposed to be rewards, let's start treating the stats like an exalted reward.

I can understand why this item isn't too great. You see, I was shadow for the longest time and I decided to give holy a try. I was already exalted with Cenarion Expedition, so I just picked it up and used it with the Gavel of Pure Light from exalted with the Sha'tar. Without even stepping in an instance, my weapons already surpassed the staff off of Nightbane and am comparable with the healers already starting off Karazhan. Instance drops are simply tougher to get and require more time and effort than rep rewards, so they are going to be better. However bad this item might be, I'm glad that I was exalted so I could pick one up to start healing heroics and Kara.
