This spear is one of the faction rewards with Thrallmar. Honor Hold has an equivalent item (https://www.wowhead.com/mop-classic/item=29166) for alliance characters.

This polearm is similar in power to the Sonic Spear (https://www.wowhead.com/mop-classic/item=27903) which has stamina and a bit more agility but less attack power.

Great for hunters that dont like Shadowlabs,like myself. Looks way cooler then alliance version imo but Sonic Spear is better and looks cooler.

Compared to Sonic Spear, this has less stamina (-30), agility (-9) and hit rating (-5), but puts out more raw attack power (+21). Naturally, how much this benefits you ultimately depends on your spec. One reason many shy away from this weapon is the difficulty of increasing your Thrallmar rep. However, hunters have a few additional incentives to increase their rep with Thrallmar:
1. Hellfire Shot
2. Marksman's Bow

And for LW hunters:
1. Pattern: Netherscale Ammo Pouch
2. Pattern: Nethercobra Leg Armour

but if u will put a Savagerry enchant or a 35 Agility enchant will make u a a verry good spear

Thrallmar rep is so easy to gain.
I bought this while im waiting for Sonic spear to drop in shadow lab.
Run for almost 10 times still no luck :(

This is the best hunter weapon in the game to date, on a pure attack power basis. Assuming we remember that 1 agi = 1 attack power for hunters.....

92 ap + 26 agi = 118 attack power, more then any of the even epic weapons out there. This is the melee weapon for hunters who want to maximize DPS, it is the hands down best. If you want other stats like stam and int you can waste your DKP on those epics and such, I'm sticking with this one for easy rep gain and some gold :)

shadow labyrinth has been cruel to me and after about 6 full runs still no spear but as im after the key i'll be using this beast till i get the spear. it fits well into my 'maxing atp crusade', just drifting over 2k now and most of the time i just sit there with auto shot on laughing to myself at the stupid dps...love it.

Honestly, for me, considering I'm likely to never run anything past kara, I'd get both: blackened spear for PvE/instances and sonic spear for arena and PvP. Very simple.

you are lvl 70 and arnt reverd yet im lvl 60 bm hunter and am less that 1k from being reverd:D if you are low enough just keeep doing qs and hellfire ramparts:d working for me:D

This with the +35 agility enchant on it gives a hunter mad dps, bm or mm it does not matter this weapon is very nice. I dont have mine yet cause im 67 at the moment but already revered and will purchase after my flying mount. Hunter in my guild uses this with that agil enchant says it adds over 250 ap total, and a little easier to get than Sonic Spear. I dont think you could go wrong purchasing this weapon, thats my take on it ;)

This weapon is a great layover for any class that can use it, till they get into endgame instances and can replace it with better. And no-one should be arguing that this is a class specific weapon, because its a reputation reward/purchase, which means that any class that can use it can buy it. Infact classes that cant use it can buy it if they want to because there are and infinate number of them.

Ok for all you hunters that are trying to decide between Sonic Spear and Blackened Spear I'm going to break it down for you.

Sonic Spear gives you:
-.23% crit
-30 stamina
-5 hit rating
MORE than Blackened Spear

Blackened Spear gives you:
-21 attack power
MORE than Sonic Spear

Now in my opinion I'd go with the Sonic Spear because I've got 2120 AP and only 25% crit, i can sacrifice a little of that for some more crit, also the stamina is nice because I've litteraly had occasions in instances wen I lived by ONE health no joke, and 5 hit rating will do a bit more damage.. Also Blackened Spear costs 55g!

add savagery to blackened spear and u get close to 200 AP and if ur MM dont forget the 10% added to ur AP and if u get combat experience u get 2% agi so :]

blackended spear should be better in raids/instances simply because as a ranged damage dealer, hunters rarely get damage from mobs... if a caster/ranged mob begins to attack you, just fain death and continue ^^ the 30 stamina is pretty worthless in any fight there you have not to expect aoe dmg the 21 ap is far better than the 5 hit and the 0.23 crit, the 30 stam isn´t that important i think.

in pvp however, the sonic spear is the winner until you can get a hold of something better like the gladiator axes/swords/polearms

I disagree on Stamana being worthless, Stamana is important especally in BGs and PvP for when a hunter's worst enemy(Lock DoTs) gets on them, also the Agility on the Sonic Spear is better for survival hunters at least.
Sonic Spear>Blackened spear.
But another great Survival Hunter Weapon is Terokk's Quill, for its pure +54agility is got on it and also its +33stam
