The notable thing about this enchant is that the mat costs are much more expensive than the +40 spell dmg enchant.. and this one limits you to one type of damage. Since its eithere going to be used by frost mages, or shadowpriests/locks.. It's one damage type.. Where-as the +40 spell dmg enchant has no limitations to damage type, is much cheaper in mats and from a priests perspective it also impacts +healing because its +40 spell dmg and healing.. Blizz has steated in the past that the +30 spell dmg encahnt also impacted +healing, it just wasn't noted on the tool tip.

It is true this enchant only affects two schools of damage (shadow and frost), there are specs that use those schools the more than the other schools. So it is a 14 damage upgrade for them, and some people consider that upgrade with the mat cost.

For a shadow lock this would be a boost anyway, even withour +40spelldmg in fire. As a shadow master-ruin i barely use fire (only if i get kicked or counterspelled) and bonus shadow dmg also affects my pet Attack Power and Spelldmg, and that makes my void generate more threat.
As a frost-mage... i don't know... mages, i would consider this enchant... costs are high and upgreade small, mages don't get full damage bonus as we (locks) do for curses and so on. +14spldmg is not enaugh IMHO to buy this enchant that will costs LOADS of money...

In my opinion it better matches the quality of this enchant by doubling the amount of void crystals needed, and meanwhile reduced the grind for primals, wich is a good thing.
But then again that is my opinion, and others might think different.

As some people already mentioned here, this enchant is only good for PvE dps. For PvP, both Shadow priests and warlocks benefit from +healing too: PW: Shield for priests and occasional heals, Death Coil, Siphon Life, Drain Life and Destruction Talent for warlocks. So unless you are an end-game raider, you should go for the better and cheaper +40 Spell Dmg enchant.

Extremely powerful 39 Spriest/Warlock/Frost Mage twink enchant. Use with Staff of Jordan ( +26 Spelldmg ), and you got a whacking staff with +70 Spelldmg, which is insane at level 39.

It's worth mentioning, that even though a Death Knight does use both frost and shadow damage (and is the only class that does so), this enchant will have no effect.

Today I went in with my 87 warrior and didn't get any of the formulas, now I do have all from earlier except the soulfrost.

my enchant is at 540.I am locked out of the instance for 4 days, even though I had it set for a normal 5 man. I tried resetting it, but it wont work. It looks like it will automatically set to heroic if your level is high enough.

I love how so many people complain about the "glow' on this chant.

Time for a reality check.

Who cares what it glows like! If looks are so darned important to you, you may want to rethink your gaming...

+54 Shadow and Frost damage. Period. Odds are if you are willing to grind out the mats/ spend the gold you actually have a weapon worth putting it on. Strangely enough, the really good weapons tend to come with a "glow' of their own...

My reccomendation: Don't bother with it unless you have an S1 weapon or better. rest of ya stick with demonslaying since it has such a cool glow...

pictures just don't do the 'glow effect' justice. It has a faint black/blue glow effect, and on top of that there are these snowflake-like patterns shooting out softly from the enchant in every which direction. It looks very cool.

Just got it on my Gladiator Staff, will try to get a nice clear picture posted when I get time.

Very expensive mats, good enchant though... last night I got Prince's dagger and I was considering enchant this weapon with soulfrost, until I looked at the mats... I'm sticking with +40 spell damage. I'm affliction warlock, soulfrost would be better, but oh well... soulfrost for next upgrade then :D Someone posted before about getting every single point of spell damage you can and at the end you'll have some bestial spell damage compared with other common enchants... might be true, but considering the price of this enchant, I wouldn't use this on any gear from karazhan but only from gruul's lair and above... correct me if I'm wrong please. Wasting too much gold on something you can replace soon if you're in a good PvE guild doesn't sound correct. Sorry about my english!

Please update this. I dont know if it was changed or not, but the recipe I was linked in game was 6 primal waters and 6 primal shadow, and 12 void crystals.

I spent ALL my gold getting the mats listed here, now I am trying to sell 4x of each of the primals to make gold for the void crystals I don't yet have.

The only real beef I have with this enchant is the fact that if you look at Mongoose/Executioner compared to say Savagery, the cost difference is pretty linear.

It only costs a few extra hundred gold to get Mongoose/Executioner, but the benefit you get from these enchants is huge. You'd pay maybe 100-200G tops for Savagery, while Mongoose/Executioner would cost you 500G tops. Having Mongoose/Executioner on every weapon is well worth the expense, and won't run you into the ground, even if you do change weapons frequently.

When you look at Soulfrost/Sunfire compared to Major Spellpower (+40 spell damage) the benefit is only slight. +14 spell damage is +14 spell damage, anyway you slice it, not only that but it's only for two schools of spell damage (No Holy Green Peace for Shamans/Druids/Paladins). However the cost ramps up significantly. Were talking 100-200G tops for Major Spellpower, compared to 1000G+ for Soulfrost/Sunfire.

Compared to Savagery and Mongoose/Executioner the cost is just too high. It would have been better if they styled these enchants similar to PPM weapon enchants like Spellsurge, and had the proc been +200 Shadow/Fire/Frost/Arcane damage for 20 seconds, or at least had the amount ramped up to something like 70+ spell damage.

That way, the enchant would truly be worthy of the cost, and you would see this enchant being used more frequently. If not, then it would be nice to see the primal cost taken out, if not at least halved. It would be much more accessible and more people would use it.

As it stands right now, pretty much every single melee class I see with S1/T1+ gear and weapons has Mongoose or Executioner on there weapons.

I've seen this enchant and Sunfire maybe twice, on a 2300+ rated Warlock and a completely T6+ decked Mage (Who used it onhttps://www.wowhead.com/mop-classic/item=32374/札頓姆-吞噬者之杖, arguably the best caster staff in the entire game). The benefit of this enchant is just too small compared to the massive costs involved and only the absolutely dedicated min/maxers would ever use this, and probably only at a 2000+ rating or Mount Hyjal/Black Temple level.

Regardless, I'd rather have the option of getting this enchant rather than be stuck with just Major Spellpower or Spellsurge, but I think they need to redesign enchants in the future to be more accessible.

The thing is as a shadow priest, I really love this enchant since in 25 man raids, I dotted everything except for CC'ed mobs, so 14 dmg does add up.

It is true that compared to Executioner/Mongoose and stuff it is a lot more expensive. But, classes that use those enchants usually can only hit one target at a time (boo hoo no dot, no aoe). This probably explain the reason why with equivalent gears, rouges will have 1600 ap(unbuffed) while a shadow priest like me only have 1200 spell dmg(unbuffed) but still top the dmg meter.

And late game, what else can I spend my gold on except enchants and gems that will improve my dps. IMO more dps = faster mob killing = faster primal farming = faster gold = better dps

Shadow Priests should be drooling right now. I have been looking for an enchant to get me some serious DPS on my shadow priest, This is the enchant for me. Will go very very nicely with my Frozen Shadoweave Set. Yeah the mats are on the pricey side but hey, if you are like me and a tailor, get the mats for the soul cloth gloves, find a buddy to DE them hope they come out to 2 Voids a piece and pow 120g for mats and 12 void crystals 1=10g. Imbued Netherweave Robes are cheap to make (With the help of your enchanting friend that always disenchants your greens from all the questing you do). With a 90% Rate to DE the Imbued Robes into prismatic shards. Now for the Greater Planer Essences, buy them from AH for 10g a piece or hopefully you got enough from all those greens you have NOT been vendering (I hope you have been disenchanting all of those /glare) And the primals grind in your favorite place and pow there you go, you just got a enchant that some people have payed 700g+ for only 200g. Have fun grinding!

This dropped for me on my second run after Enchant Weapon- Mongoose dropped for me on my first run. I've never had this much luck in WoW. I;m one of those guys who grinds 100s when it usually takes 15. My karma was just built up I suppose.
