Sure, tank ring for all I care, but it's also an excellent PvP ring for any class. Casters included. There's nothing as annoying as having a mage dodge my gouge. My rogue took this as no tank wanted it. Good use of DKP imo, but I recon most rings in TBC will have the same amount of stamina for much less ilvl.

Something VERY interesting I found when picking a roleplay surname for my paladin, who is a draenei is I had a draenei say "Lightbearer" to me in Draenish (I was on a non-Draenei character) it came out to be Archimtiros. I have NO clue if this was on purpose by Blizzard especially since this is Pre-TBC but I find it INCREDIBLY intruiging as to why that is, especially since this isn't at all a paladin ring, well could be, but not specifically.

So I am fairly convinced that this ring was intended strictly for tank usage with some side benefits to PVP value. Though obviously not singularly useful for those purposes it is rather clearly not designed with the intent of DPS. If not for a tank it appears very under-budgeted when compared to other DPS rings of the era.

The Master Dragonslayer's Ring is from the quest for Nefarian's head, the same boss the Ring of Reckoning drops from, and while it is the same item level from the same content seems rather short on useful stats.

Comparison of the head quest ring vs this:

loss of: 14 Agil, 14 stam
gain of: 48 raw AP, 10 hit (1% equivalent)

In what was at the time future content Qiraji Fury is a lower ilvl but for a larger gain in damage trading once again stam and agility for now AP and crit. From this level of content it would have been possible (though difficult to say the least) to earn your rep ring as well. Also a lower item level but with larger net gains for dealing damage. Your brood ring would have likely taken a very large amount of time to earn but still a better itemization for damage dealers. Even some blues by point of content would over take this ring.

I do not want to downplay what this ring was or may have been for people at the time. Again, three of the mentioned rings did not exist at the time the ring of reckoning was released. Also I certainly can appreciate that at the time you had to take what you could get with some drops. That said if you were looking at this for say a modern twink, or leveling up and got a free run through, or turned off XP (since that's possible now) to join a classic 60 raiding guild, there are better options around then this.

If a guild has BWL on farm status and is easily clearing BWL in one sitting (we're clearing it slightly under 4 hours) then the guild's MT or other tanks are definetly well geared.

However there comes a point when +def becomes meaningless and the increase in HP becomes far superior to a wee bit of extra defense.

Full wrath set + ZG enchants etc are going to be standard for a MT that has BWL on farm status meaning he'll have all the +def he'll ever need from the armor alone leaving the ring slots open for more STA if so desired, as more HP will in the end keep you alive longer and the added bonus of buffs that boost % of stats (kings/head turnins).
Many mobs in BWL has high melee dmg and magic (fire mostly) damage that requires a good balance of +def and +STA to survive the magic making this ring ideal for Tanks looking to break 6.5k hp unbuffed etc.

I'm not going to flat out say this is a <warrior> only item but if the tanks can't surive long enough for heals to come off, then it doesn't matter how much AoE damage a rogue is taking, it'll be a wipe. Combat rez's in a good endgame guild should very rarely be used on Tanks since tanks shouldn't be going down. Any class can make an argument, this post is just explaining to those who aren't in BWL guilds that Tanks certainly have uses for this ring.

On a personal note - I wouldn't take it, the AQ rings for me personally suit me better and am not spending RPP on this when other classes may not have such a nice upgrade/alternate in AQ.

Also, as an extra note, guilds that have BWL on farm status definetly have at least 3 well geared tanks meaning to keep the game fun, the guild's official MT isn't always tanking. I myself am not the MT in BWL, but MC is my playground and we rotate on select bosses in BWL. For kicks - let a druid MT Onyxia, a well organized guild will have no problem letting it happen as they are smart enough to recover if indeed something goes wrong but once people are semi-well geared, you can have a lot of fun with all the encounters instead of trying to pigeonhole every class.

And last thing - we have 2 warriors at the top of the dmg meters in almost EVERY single instance run, not because rogues are crappy but because the warriors are extremely well geared (Ashkandis etc.)

This is a great ring for a Hunter, Rogue, Feral Druid, or Warrior. I don't care about which class gets it, as long as one of them get it; but thats my opinion.

An MT in a 40p raid can hardly ever have "too much HP". HP is what allows a tank to take hits of 5-6 k in one shot and still have life left over to allow healers to heal them back to full. The agi is good for armor and dodge.

This pile of HP is equally useful to warriors in pvp, allowing warriors to take huge damage from casters and keep on swinging. The agi is good for crit.

To sum up, this is pretty much one of the best rings in the game for a warrior, at the moment. Don't expect smart warriors to pass on it.

I am a Hunter and know that there are much better rings for rogues and hunters I'd much rather take a Band of Accuria and a Quickstrike than using this ring. This is definitely a ring that's perfect for a tank.

Plenty of raid groups use roll systems in raids, doofus. Not everyone likes DKP and rolling works just fine if you do it right. (Hint: there are stupid DKP systems and smart DKP systems, and stupid rolling systems and smart rolling systems too.)

28 stamina is about 320 HP for me, and with sacrificed voidwalker, it is a lot of regenerated HP.

for shizzle. 280 More Health to Life Tap and more dodge against rogues in PvP !

This item would go to Warriors more than any other class, as they need stamina and dodge help against mobs that aren't based on spells. 0.75% crit is also nice for warriors.

I shure would like to see this baby on my rogue... 5500 health unbuffed with all my Stamina gear on!

Though theres more stamina on it then agi dosnt mean a hunter can make good use of it. I got band of acuria yesterday and this from nef today, raised my primary attribute alot and abit more hp didnt harm anyone! was the only one that wanned it though, cause most people in the guild got the aq rings :P anyhow, blizzard hasnt tagged the ring for one class only, so several of us can decide wether we want to make use of those attributes or not! ag and stamina represents more crit and life, all 3 offensive classes deserve it imo, cause we are fighting where it hurts the most when it hits you! :)

It's best for whoever can get the most use out of it. If you're a hunter who chooses to spend on this, yet you're always at the bottom of the dmg taken list, it's probably a good idea for you to not even bother as there are much better options for you out there.

Warriors probably have more than enough HP as it is, but nevertheless all that extra stam is pretty hard to pass up.

I may seem a tad biased, but I think this honestly benefits a rogue/feral druid(don't underestimate their effectiveness) more than the others. But they're your points, and you can spend em how you want. This is just my $.02
