Yes, chained essense is much better because it's an AoE that stays around you for 45 seconds. It will actually TAKE a rogue out of stealth, from up to 9 yards away. basically removing their ability to ambush or cheap shot you.

Using Poison in an attempt to prevent a rogue from stealthing is a bad idea, because it would take one hell of a stupid rogue to step into a fight withoug an elixir of poison resistance, to make them immune to all poison for a minute. At the very least, they'd have some strong anti-venom to get rid of poison so they could vanish.

Coming from a paladin, this isn't bad at all. I use it before shielding up to prevent the opponent from bandaging and stealthing. Works wonders, although other classes may find it completely useless.

I farm the nodes in the silithus bug hives on 'Dark iron', a PvP server, and with that, and in Battlegrounds, this trinket is definilitely the best in the game.

Brilliant, and those noobs saying essence of eranikus... what drugs are you on? that trinket is an AOE around you, you cant just target another rogue and throw it on them. Plus the cooldown is horrible while this is only 3 minutes... 2 mins have passed by the time it has worn off on your target.

This trinket is much better than chained essence.

The cooldown is superb, the duration is longer, you are able to target a specific enemy....at a range...

This is brutal on a rogue- whereas with chained essence he can blind you and bandage away from you, this does not allow such a luxury, while at the same time costing him an expensive anti-venom or purification pot...

the point is- rogues rarely anti venom or purification pot in pvp- the price/reward ratio is pathetic. If you win, you get a little honor. If you lose, you dont even pay repair costs...but the pots and anti-venom prices stay the same- HUGE.

if this is a poison any Dwarf should be able to use stoneform to get rid of it right?
wich has a cooldown of 2 or 3 minutes (I forgot) so this would probably be pretty much pointless in that case

btw. using stoneform is my only way to get rid of poisons atm, but it works brilliant. And they got rid of the ensnaring effect in patch 1.9 as well..

I ran LBRS last night ten man, and im lvl 51. i got one of these and disenchanted it for a nexus crystal, large brilliant shards aren't the only drop off of this. i got 70 gold from the crystal too :D

To the guy above who thought Blizzard has wielded the nerf gun on this trinket, look again. The trinket always had a 20 second period of action, but its cooldown used to be 3 minutes. Now, its 2 minutes - dropping its cooldown makes it even more valuable.

Does the trinket have some nifty tricks to be used in Duels and PvP - Yes

If you're able to use this on a Rogue in a duel and he doesn't pop an Anti-Venom and remove it, the Rogues poor quality.

As a Shaman - Useless

One of the most extreme situational items - also class limited for use.

I give it One star.

I just got this trinket a few days ago, apparently it has been changed because it is 200 dmg over 20 seconds. The cooldown is also only 2 mins now. Im not sure how useful it is for pvp anymore, but I need rolled for it on my 60 mage...and I use it all the time. My plus dmg even affects it, although not thst much. I think it is pretty nifty, and a nice trinket for me who has the worst trinkets in the world.

Use this trinket on a Rogue, and they can not stealth for one minute. Also, using this trinket on another class means they can't bandage either.

Definitely not useless. I'd say it's one of the best trinkets for PvP.

I used my need on this in LBRS.

30yard range, 1minute duration and 3minute cooldown. I don't think you can get any better trinket against rogues.

As a paladin, I usually have trouble beating rogues, but with this, it's much easier.

yeah my last group didn't think much of this trinket, for a grand total of 150 damage.. over 1 minute.. didn't realize its potential in Duels against other rogues untill I tested it out..

If you had unlimited trinket slots then I could see a use for this... IF you played one of the few classes that have no DoT abilities/spells. But considering how this would take up two very precious slots at this stage in the game it's essentially useless except for it's one obvious use that everyone's pointed out. So unless you're in a BG vs 10x rogues it's something more of a joke than anything else. And Chained Essense has a 10 min cooldown if I remember correctly, a much better alternative.

If you are a Warlock PvPer and hate Rogues. Well let me tell you this is the item that you have been looking for.

A rogue usually opens on a Warlock. Cheap shot into Backstab into Kidney Shot... whatever the case. When he lets you out of the stun he will either Vanish or Pop his Shadow Reflector. If he vanishes, you sapper to get him out. If he pops shadow reflector you dot him with this trinket as its a Nature school ability and wont be reflected, now he cant stealth. GG.
