If you've never played a hunter (the only ranged with auto attacks), this weapon might cause you problems when you gain a target via right clicking. As a ranged weapon, it will try to wand your target, preventing you from casting spells, which is annoying to say the least when you need crisp, quick target switching. In an AoE situation, where you're constantly switching targets, it leads to a quite noticeable "downtime" of you just standing there waving your wand like a moron.

The solution:

1) Hit Escape. Go into Interface. Make sure you're on the "Game" tab, not your addon tab.

2) Go to the "Combat" subsection.

3) Make sure "Stop Auto Attack" is checked. You can effectively check this for any spellcasting ranged and have it not do anything....besides preventing this wand from auto-attacking.
