From the letter a Horde player got upon completion of the original Loremaster achievement:
News of your accomplishments has traveled far. The winds of turmoil howl through our lands. Those who stand to challenge evil are our only hope.
Only those who listen to the winds understand the debts of our fallen heroes have paid to protect our people. May a hero such as yourself live long to tell the tales of your adventures. For only then will we remember just how much we have to be thankful for.
Our appreciation runes deep, Loremaster.
For the Horde!
--Cairne Bloodhoof
The tabard is pale brown, with a quest giver's big yellow exclamation mark (!) on it.

I am the bone of loremaster.
Quest book is my body, and lore is my blood.
I have completed over a thousand quests.
Unknown to death.
Nor known to life.
Have withstood pain to complete so many quests.
Yet, those hands will never achieve anything.
So as I pray, "Unlimited Quest Works."

Like many other people i hadn't yet completed this before the patch. Last night i finished up Loremaster of Pandaria and received the 'Loremaster' achievement. However, there was no tabard in the mail. I checked all my toons. I logged out with the title on and even put a ticket in and no response yet, but we'll see what they say. Anyone else have this issue?

I completed this via various Loremaster requirements across multiple characters. I received the title but not the colours and opened a ticket. This was the response:
With the change to achievements (now being account-wide), meta achievements are capable of being completed by criteria being met by multiple characters.
For achievements that grant tabards, however, the tabard is only granted to characters that have finished all of the criteria themselves. While your account has collectively completed this achievement, this particular character has only completed Pandaria and Outland's Loremaster acheivements, and as such, the remaining continents will need to be completed on this character in order to receive the tabard.
To sum up: No tabard if you complete Loremaster via multiple characters; do it all the requirements on a single character and you get the tabard. Which seems reasonable.

I'm working on this at the moment. In multiple areas i had the problem that i needed just a few more quests or didnt knew where to start. When i looked on wowhead every time for the remaining quests i thought to myself there must be a better way to do this. I'm sure more of you think this. I found the solution:
There is a great add-on called "QuestHubber" (here is a
link
to Curse) that shows you what quests you haven't done yet. Really helped me a LOT so wanted to share it with you all.

For those of you that finally got the achievement, but never received your tabard-- you can, in fact, get it by visiting a tabard vendor. The option to recover your "lost" Loremaster Colors tabard will be available.

If you're going back to do this at level 90, it's a great chance to get some Pet Battle achievements out of the way. If you plot your path well, you'll probably be progressing into higher level zones anyway, so before you start, pick up
an addon to tell you if you've captured a pet before,
and get to work on collecting! If you do them at the same time, you'll probably end up getting this and
禪師級寵物獵人
close together, alone with plenty other Pet Battle chieves. This will also diversify your work quite a bit so that instead of doing nothing but quest after quest after quest, you'll have some pet battles interspersed in with them!

You do NOT need to complete this achievement on one character to get the Loremaster Colors (tabard). Simply go to any tabard vendor on any character. There is an option that says 'I've lost my Loremaster tabard'. The tabard gets put directly into your bag. No charge.

So you completed every quest in every area of every continent.
You braved through buggy mechanics, worthless quest gear, and near suicide to finish them.
You deserve this tabard.

Advice for People Considering the Achievement:
1. It's easier to do on a fresh level 10 or on a character who has leveled in dungeons or battlegrounds since then. Why? Some areas (particularly in Outland) are very difficult to complete if you dropped a quest somewhere in the middle of a chain. Yes, I know you can now break it up and do it all on different alts, but if you're going to do it on one, you'll probably want a fresh one who hasn't quested.
2. If you're doing it as you go (rather than on a levelcapped toon), it helps to have a high-level friend or guildie who can help you through some of the 3-man and 5-man quests, especially if you're a class that can't solo them easily. It also helps to have an alt, friend, or guildie who can make armor that's at your actual level. (So a tailor if you wear cloth, a blacksmith if you wear plate, etc.) As for your own profession, this achievement benefits some more than others. It's great for gathering professions and crafting professions that require a greater-than-average amount of materials, and engineers benefit because of the reputation with Alliance Vanguard or Horde Expedition in Northrend. (The factions that sell the Mekgineer's Chopper and Mechano-Hog schematics.)
3. It's going to take a while. This should be pretty obvious, but the keys are persistence and organization. Personally, I found it easiest to do it all on one toon, going chronologically by zone level and stopping in a city to pick up leader quests from the board as needed. (So every 5 levels until 55, then at 58, 68, 80, 82, 82, 84, and 85.) Others prefer to split it up or go out of order, so whatever works for you, but a little caveat for those going out of order: it can end up getting very confusing. Most people recommend add-ons for finding missing quests. Personally, I didn't use any.
Best of luck.

I just completed this achievement and wanted to share my experiences while it's still fresh.
First of all, I completed this on a level 85 blood DK (because blood boil was more than enough most of the time, and taunt is great for tagging mobs for aoe loot), I already had Cataclysm and Pandaria zones completed from other characters, used a 310% flying mount all the time, and thanks to first few weeks of the university (hardly any lectures at all ) I played for many, many hours almost every day.
I completed zones (generally) in level order. This is because I wanted to be able to make a plan on my progress, and of course I didn't want to miss breadcrumbs (this is especially important in Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor)
Both Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms were relatively easy to complete. Most of the zones required around 40-50 quests, I was able to one-shot, had max speed flying mount so for each zone I spent approximately 1.5 - 2 hour, of course there were exceptions but no big deal. Completing both of these continents took approximately 10 days.
Outland, was definitely the worst. Quests are not spread in a logical order so you have to fly all the time, there are many dungeon quests, and you keep changing zones to be able to complete some of the quest lines. I never had to grind reputation, but I heard that some people did. Completing Outland quests took about a week for me.
Northrend was pretty smooth with the exception of Icecrown. Northrend also took about a week, but I played less than I did for Outland in that week.

I received this achievement last week. Now that I have all the quests and easy reputations done I don't know what to do with my time.
Tips:
- I used
QuestHubber
. It's perfect if you don't want to download extra addons for an addon, or don't want arrows to be cluttering up your UI.
- I did a majority of the quests at 90. I did do checks on each character though to see who had the most completed in a particular area. I just about died doing the last 35 quests in Darkshore as level 59...so beware if you are still ground-bound.
- It would make sense to start at like level 10 and go about doing all of the quests, though we all get in that mood of "I want to be 90 now". But to each his own.
- As a druid, swift flight form was much faster than mounting up - so take your speeds into consideration.
Lastly, don't steal kills from lowbies on the same quest as you. Give them a buff of yours, they'll be very thankful. If the killing area is small, let them kill their required numbers first - or you start at the end first. Regardless of their faction, kill the creature if they're having trouble or taking too long.
Edit: It does seem that QuestHubber no longer exists.

I found my missing ones by using the Completed Quest Tracker on Icy Veins. Almost nobody knows about it, and it IS Blizzard approved. (No I do not work for them in any way, shape, or form.)

Here's a macro that should help you out with those zones that you quested half way through all those years ago, and have since forgotten where you left off:
/script print(IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(X))
Fill in X with the quest ID of the quest you want to check. If it's completed, it will print a 1 in your chat box. If not, it will print "nil".

TL;DR: Metas appear to be SAFER to achieve among multiple toons than when they were introduced two years ago, but are still buggy. Your safest bet is to do all zones within a "continent" on the same toon, but it will probably work if you complete each zone on separate toons.
I cannot guarantee you still run the risk of completing 120 quests in a zone, only to have to repeat those 120 quests on another toon in order to get the continent's meta. My most recent experience suggests that this has been fixed, despite some minor remaining bugs. But that risk has been very real since the introduction of metas and I have experienced it personally on three different continents.
Screenshot included to show a current bug: Meta awarded when one zone appears incomplete, though all zones SHOULD have been complete. As this resulted in awarding the meta when it should have been awarded, and not before, the bug is minor. These bugs have been worse in the past.
Pandaland: Completed Townlong Steppes, my "last" achieve needed. No meta. Meta correctly showed all green checks, but wasn't awarded. Looking through the achievements for each zone on my main, I realized the achievement for Kun-Lai Summit had been awarded on an alt. Completed Kun-Lai Summit on my main and got the meta.
Northrend: Planned to start in the west on one toon, start in the east on another, and both would do the center of the continent. Zones completed in the west weren't counting for the east toon, and vice versa. Ran my west toon from Howling Fjord up through Storm Peaks, got the meta.
Outland: Similarly, planned to complete north zones on one toon and south zones on another. As with the previous continents, no meta was awarded until all zones were completed on the same toon.
Eastern Kingdoms: Marks a change, and was completed after a long break from "loremastering". Zones were completed on multiple toons, correctly showed green checks on the meta for all toons, and was correctly awarded. Not a single bug.
Cata: The opposite of previous bugs. Instead of the meta showing green checks for zones correctly, but not counting all zones for the meta achievement, it instead showed one zone incomplete (no green check) on several toons, but still awarded the meta when one of those toons completed the final zone. This resulted in that toon (and others) showing a completed meta with incomplete checkmarks. The meta is behaving as it's intended, it just doesn't look like it, so you're not sure what you'll get until it's awarded.
Loremaster appears to be giving Blizzard more trouble than any other meta. The good news is, it looks like it's getting more attention from them than any other meta. Hopefully, the problems I encountered on the first half of my trip won't be experienced by anyone anymore. Hopefully, they've been fixed. But I'd rather play it safe. Tying up an incomplete zone can take long enough; I don't want to do it twice.

There are a lot of zones for which the Horde and Alliance have to complete a different amount of quests to get the achievement and the total amount of quests does not seem to be equal between Horde and Alliance:
Total quests required for Loremaster:
Alliance
- Kalimdor: 753
- Eastern Kingdoms: 648
- Outland: 1124
- Northrend: 775
- Cataclysm: 1160
Total: 4460 (+ Pandaria)
Horde
- Kalimdor: 733
- Eastern Kingdoms: 598
- Outland: 1170
- Northrend: 775
- Cataclysm: 1110
Total: 4386 (+ Pandaria)
So if you want to do this as efficiently as possible, you could choose to e.g. do Eastern Kingdoms on an Alliance character and do the Cataclysm areas on a Horde character.
It's a long trip, but in my opinion it's worth it for anyone who's into the Warcraft story. There's plenty of good storylines hidden in zones which are easily skipped during levelling and you'd be surprised by what you run into when you try to complete these achievements.
Happy hunting!

A tip for high level characters: a few quests require you to damage mobs below a certain percentage but all your attacks or spells will probably one-shot them. Simply keep any weapon you loot in that zone in your bag and equip it for these quests. This way you can simply beat the mob down, albeit slowly.

One of the few Achievements I love working on, no matter which Character I get it on. I always strive to complete a Zone I start in, until I've finished all Quests there.
