This spell is taken from the WC3 ultimate skill of Pitlords called "Doom", where the targeted unit would suffer a huge amount of damage over time and would (no matter what) die from the effect, spawning a doomguard in its place.
Unlike the WoW version, the WC3 version was uninteruptable and would last until the unit died, meaning that NO MATTER WHAT the spell would kill the unit and make a doomguard spawn in its place.
By uninteruptable, I mean that it was undispellable.
It sure would be awesome if the WoW version was like that... but it would be slightly over powered...
However, like the WoW version, the WC3 version could not be used on heroes, so this is still fairly true to the original.

That's...a lot of damage. With a decent amount of spellpower, and Amplify Curse, this thing is going to be blowing for 15k+ with very little work involved.

Still, fairly useless on anythig except bosses, demons, and elementals.

I never tried it, but can you cast this on players pets? I would assume you can. Just never tried. Might be a good way to cause a ruckus and ^&*! off hunters or other warlocks when their pet just takes a huge chunk of damage a minute later. Since it's not the most noticeable spell.

Not lame. This is simply such a powerful spell -- even with the one minute wait time -- that Blizzard's only alternative would be to take it away from us. Be glad you have it for your other nefarious purposes. It's not ONLY useful for making Doomguards. You can also use it to make a substantial reduction in your target's health, if they are a boss, once a minute. Or to put it on a second target, which you don't expect to be able to kill within a minute. It's almost a "fire and forget" spell. In fact, it has been reported that Curse of Doom does not break polymorph, since it causes no damage until a minute is up.

Ticks every 15 seconds for Demonology, before haste, giving 4 ticks total and completely replacing Bane of Agony in all situations. No cooldown to boot.

Not to mention random demons popping out during fights. Do want.

In cata this ability has been changed, it now deals damage every 15 seconds (still lasts 1 minute) and each tick has a 20% (50% with talents) chance to summon an Ebon Imp to assist you in battle.

There is a weird issue currently. The spell clearly states it procs every 15 seconds, and so does the debuff you put on your enemies. However, when you link your spell in the chat, others will see a tooltip that states it procs every 30 seconds.

Testing it is quick and easy, and it is 15 seconds. This is hardly a surprise, and I can't imagine anyone NOT knowing this. But just today, some druid claimed to know it should proc every 30 seconds, and I was stupid and blind, and god knows what else, because I didn't know. He told me to check the internet, and lo and behold, 15 seconds interval between procs. The issue came when I linked the spell to show it, and people started laughing, saying "well, it DOES say 30 seconds. Guess you were wrong".

Not really anything big, but it DOES matter when deciding between Bane of Doom and Bane of Agony. Currently at level 22 (my new toon), my Bane of Doom deals more damage every 15 seconds, than my Bane of Agony does on a full, 24 seconds duration. This means all cases where enemies lasts more than 15 seconds, Bane of Doom will be superior. If it had lasted 30 seconds, it wouldn't have been worth it, but with 15 seconds, it is.

To anyone who cares to weigh-in. My questions are:

1. I have found that my Ebon imp does about 1k of dps or dmg have to recheck, but is good source of dps and worth using BoD in raids?
2. What exactly does it mean by "... and only one Bane per Warlock can be active on any one target"? I assume in raids the locks will have to decide who uses which Bane from start to finish. This can become heck since Banes depend on encounter. Also the Bane can factor in on a warlock's dps.
3. As in 2 above, if you have 3 bosses let's say like in Gruuls Lair, can we only have 1 Bane in that entire encounter active? (okay huge boss with HUGE adds)
-- So now not only do we coordinate curses but banes as well... Sheesh Blizz help a girl out.
4. As a destro lock I have found BoA to be less useful since BoD does dmg after 15 secs. And with the cata expac, even trash mobs take at least 15secs in raids so therefore BoH would be most useful on trash and BoD on bosses.
5. Now we locks can have Ebon imp, Summoned Minion and a demon active all at once. If you use a companion also, you're sure to draw a crowd.

PS Warlocks are cool even if we get nerfed every patch @.@

I've noticed something though; the ebon imps, which you have no control over, will attack cc'd mobs if they happen to be the closest targets to where they spawn. I unfortunately learnt this the hard way on first boss of heroic Throne of Tides after i had used glyphed fear on one of the witch adds that appear - the ebon imp having proc'd from BoD being on boss.

Just something to be aware of on CC intensive fights with the best solution at this stage being to position yourself as close to skull target as possible for any potential ebon imp spawns to latch onto.

Demon specced I have issues with demons breaking CC.Trapped or Feared (with glyph ofc), I keep my felguard on passive at pulls. While still passive I send him on tank's target,yet he decides to occasionally charge into a CC. Tho a very useful ability in PvP,in PvE is annoying, only thing I noticed I can to is to disable the autocharge.But sometimes even that won't keep my demon going rampage on cc'd mobs

Since Bane of Doom isn't effected by haste, it's clear it doesn't work like other DoTs.
Has anyone tested whether its final tick can be clipped, or if it just refreshes the duration like standard DoTs?

I've tested to see if the last DoT was clipped if you refreshed early and was surprised with what I found out. Not only does refreshing early NOT clip the last tick... it can add time past 1 min.

Ex: To test it I did it with a stopwatch in my hand. I casted BoD and 10 seconds later cast another. The tick still went off at 15 seconds and every 15 seconds thereafter until completed. I did it again but this time casted another BoD when it had 20 seconds remaining; every tick happened at 15 seconds intervals based on the original cast.

Take home: Refresh whenever...just dont let it drop.

edit: to try and prove/disprove myself... i again pulled out the stop watch and began casting BoD on a dummy continously. The tick went off at every 15 sec interval still even while i was refreshing it... the damage happened AS i was putting on a new BoD (for the 17th time already). So yea... WHENEVER :)

Here is some interesting facts about BoD, mostly a pve perspective

It will keep its original damage based on your stats/buffs when you cast it. This includes procs like power torrent, if your power torrent procs before a tick, the tick will do just as much dmg as it would have if your power torrent had not procced. But if your power torrent procs before you cast it, all the ticks will be like it has power torrent.

This means it might be worth the global to refresh a high time duration low damage BoD if a trinket procs or something. And your big cooldowns are over a minute away.

Testing on a dummy, as demonology when darkmoon card volcano procs, and i refreshed a 0 buffs BoD and the ticks gained ~2.2k in damage, that would lead to ~11k(5 ticks explained below), which is probably not worth a global, but it would be if you were moving, or if a phase transition was happening soon. But if a trinket and something else such as engineering gloves/power torrent/tailoring cloak i got roughly 3.5k more dmg per tick(17k 5 ticks) which is indeed worth a global if your big cooldowns are a long time away.

For affliction on the dummy, BoD has a lot of modifiers increasing its dmg by a %, so with just the darkmoon card proccing and refreshing it, it ticked for over 5k more each time. I could only imagine if there were several things stacked and you refreshed it.

It is most definitely worth it to refresh a low damage one if you are able to use a felhunter demon soul, and especially metamorphosis AND demon soul together if you are demo. that will make it hit for well over twice as hard. Really you want to shoot for refreshing it when that happens, and a trinket procs together, if you refresh it then and the full 5 ticks of it, would be a significant dmg increase

Also when the BoD gets refreshed, the duration goes up to 1 minute and whatever seconds was left before the next tick of the previous BoD. When it counts down to the 1 minute point, that tick will be of the NEW cast instead of the old one. And then it will do the regular BoD 4 ticks. That means 5 ticks of the new cast. assuming you don't refresh it again at some point.

That means if you have a good one going, and you refresh it before it finishes, you will LOSE DPS. It is better to wait untill it falls off and then cast a new one in that situation.

This also means if you refresh a bad one, with a good one, you'll get 5 ticks of the good one.

Another interesting idea. for Demo starts, typically you coe, meta/on use trinket/demon soul macro with felguard, shadow bolt, felguard ww, immolate HoG BoD corruption immolation and shadowflame if ur close then you soul burn to instant summon your felhunter out. b/c its higher dps but you want the felguard for ur first demon soul. Anyway......
Typically when i start a fight, my power torrent and darkmoon card volcano proc at the same time 2-3 casts in, If i cast BoD TWICE it would give it that 5th tick of that super high dmg. on a dummy with no raid buffs, it ticked for 28k Now with the felguard demon soul its darn close to 1 sec gcd to cast BoD My shadowbolt only hit during that for 19k so getting an extra 28k+ tick over a usual 12k bod tick(after the minute) + roughly 10k sb(since sb is ~2 sec cast time/2 for 1 global) that would be a whopping 6k damage increase O.o probably more raid buffed And it would be a good idea period if your still moving close to the boss so you can cast the melee range stuff. Must go to elitist jerks

But ignore all that.

The most practical use of all this, is if you have a high damage BoD going, don't refresh it early.
If you have a low dmg one going, and you use your big cooldowns, make sure you refresh it before it ticks again so you maximize its ticks

I have a rogue main but recently i made a lock. Id have to say using bane of doom is a great way to tag a rogue and to force them to CoS, due to its long effect even in pvp. Just a hint for you locks that hate rogues :]

Is it worth using agony over this on non-boss mobs at low levels, since stuff usually doesn't even take 15s to die?

Well, okay, i checked out my recount after Dornozmu fight as my afflic, we were with shaman who used BL after each hourglass, so it was like 2BLs on me for the most of time. Usually, i use BoD, but here i tried how will it go with Agony. Here's the results.

Agony was on for 40 seconds, and it did 72k dmg. (Under both BL and Hourglass buff)
BoD has ticked 11 times wich is equal to 175 seconds, and it did 310k dmg.
So, using a calculator, its easy to see that:
Agony: 1800 Dps
BoD: 1770 Dps

Having nearly the same dps, but Agony benefits from 2 BLs, and BoD does not. So, i assume that BoD much more better for single fight bosses, as well as it easier to renew it and does higher dps than Agony.

And now the question: could it be useful if i try to go mastery+crit afflic instead of usual mastery+haste?

Exclusive to the Demonolgy specilization.
Requires Metamorphosis to be active (Cannot cast in Dark Apothesis).
Replaces Corruption on your Action Bar when you enter Metamorphosis, but stacks with it.
Summons a Wild Imp every time it critically hits.
Benefits from Spell Haste like other DoTs.
Single target limit removed.

the *curse* of doom, which is this spell, has a small chance to summon a doom gaurd which you can control for like 30 seconds. it does do the 3200 damage regardless of whether a doom gaurd is summoned or not.
the *ritual* of doom is like the ritual of summoning only it requires 4 extras instead of the normal 2 and summons a doom gaurd every time. however when the doom gaurd is summoned it kills one of the 5 party members involved instantly as payment for summoning and the summoned doom gaurd is not controlled so the lock must cast enslave on it. the advantage of this is that if you have a rezer standing by and you need the doom gaurd to fight a major boss you can get one quick. casting CoD on a bunch of mobs to try and get a doom gaurd is too slow and in-effective in places like molten core.

First time I tried this spell it took me 16 casts before the Doomguard spawned. Thats roughly 6% chance. Not a very accurate estimate over only 1 sample, I know, but it gives you an idea.

This was on the level 6-7 mobs outside IF (Dun Morogh) so I don't know if that makes a difference.

as far as i'm concerned, there's no best class, but as a warlock i'm continually impressed by what we're capable of. reading through the abilities and looking back at what i myself have done, warlocks seem to be far and away the most versatile class, and i mean this to be as unbiased as possible. we just seem to have gotten a grab-bag of ass-kicking tools for the whole family.

Well, I hit 60 and began my study of the new summoned Demon - the Doomgaurd. As I couldn't find 4 other people willing to spend time randomly getting sacrificed (nor did I have that spell anyway), I settled for the Curse of Doom Method of casting it on unsuspeting creatures. I stand there watching the terror in their eyes as they can feel the Doom upon them even though they are not taking any damage....but knowing something is coming... something bad. Then 1 minute later that look of realization as I laugh and they die.... it brings a happy tear to my eye... ahhh the memories.

I jotted down a few things, since when most people get a Doomgaurd they certainly are far to busy and scared to write down things. I like charming Demons (though I have not Talent tree selections for it) because of the unique abilities they have in some casees.

So, the demon manual on Doomgaurds (from Curse of Doom).

The Look - Satan on Steroids. Beard, Horns, red skin, bat wings, calf feet.... hops when he runs and glides. Makes a lot of noise

Hit Points - I had to estimate this one - but roughly 3500.

Mana - 1875 (accurate)

AC - no clue, but some level 50 guards seemed to only be able to hit it for 50. It stood up to 4 HORDE gaurds level 50 and wiped 3 before dying (non-elite). I used no spells, just him with no abilities turned on.

Probablility of it -
I see one guy had 3/50. I had a 1/19 and a 1/9. A little math makes it 6.5% chance.

Abilities - Oh these are what make it so nice!
1. Warstomp - 160 AE + 2 sec stun - pops every 10 sec for reuse (roughly)
2. Dispell Magic - take good effect off enemy or bad effect off friend.
3. Cripple - 30 sec debuff - 60% move rate decrease 30% range and melee attack speed decrease.
4. Rain of Fire - 800 HP in 8 sec AE.

His attitude is very poor when summoned, as he is happy to be able to roam the land wildly destroying all small creatures and only you stand in the way of this. He always opens with Cripple (forget running!). I Highly recomend tossing that 3 sec lifetap/fear spell and then decrease his shadow resitance and then charm. He can kill you VERY quickly. (or have a blue pet up and then Sac him for the HP and charm the Doomgaurd).

Curse of Doom is an excellent spell for solo or group....just remember to warn everyone about the "consequences" or "benifit" depending on your demon charming skill.

Dimishing Returns got nothing to do with +SpellHit-Gear(SHG). +SHG only affects the chance enemies are able to resist your spells. For instance: A mob has got a 10% chance of resisting you Enslave Demon skill, with +2% SHG the chance is reduced to 8%.

Diminishing Returns is an effect, that can't be influenced by gear at all. It reduces duration of certain effects (e.g. charm, stun, fear, etc.) when cast more than once in less than 21 seconds (100%, 50%, 25%, 0). This is why DR isn't influenced by SHG, because it has nothing to do with the chance of resisting your spells.

I dont know if it can be cast on critters but this is the way i summoned my 1st doomguard:

Goto jadefire run in feralas
Use demonsence

target a demon (trickster, hellcaller, any)
Cast Curse of Doom (60sec)
Cast Fear (20sec)
once fear expires cast Banish (30sec)
This way once the 50sec from the fear and the banish expire the mob that has less than 3200 HP will die after 10 sec giving you a doomguard to enslave!

and fighting 2 elites 59,60. The second died coz of CoD and atm I was on 300hp...and...boom Doomgard lol
i had no time for reaction - he killed me with 1 hit...

I am one of those rare breed of warlcks that actually soloes with his Doomguard (and Infernal as well) quite often. Not only is the Doomguard badass, enslaving one definitely breaks the tedium of grinding (I'm endlessly killing Furbolgs ATM, for Timbermaw rep).

Here is the basic strategy I use for summonning/enslaving a Doomguard. I am not one of the game's programmers so I don't know if everything works the way I speculate it does, so bear with me.

Note: This tactic is intended for Demonology specced locks with Improved Enslave Demon and Demonic Sacrifice.

Being that I often solo, I rarely even have a full group, much less a group willing to participate in casting Ritual of Doom, so naturally I mainly use Curse of Doom.

The pet you want for farming a Doomguard is the gool 'ol blueberry (Voidwalker). First command your VW to stay in one place, pull a nearby mob with Curse of Doom, and then, when you got the mob far enough away from it's friends, sic your VW on it.

Have your VW attack for a little while (enough to keep aggro on it rather than you), but then command it to stop. You don't want to KILL the mob, just weaken it enough so that CoD can finish him off. Once the mob is sufficiently weakened, let it stand there and pound on your VW while it's DOOM approaches. Health funnel when needed. (You can use fear if you like, but in areas filled with mobs that can easily backfire, leaving you to deal with several adds AND your newly-summoned Doomguard to contend with)

You may need to repeat this several times before it works. Here's one way you can tell if it did. If, when CoD goes off, your character just stands there unaffected, it didn't work. If, however, your character flinches at the instant the 3200 damage is dealt, get ready for a tangle with El Diablo. Your Doomguard will be half a second away from spawning.

Your Doomguard will spawn right where you're standing, NOT where the mob died. Often he'll spawn right behind you and pound you with a stunning sucker-punch.

Immediately command your VW to attack it. The Doomguard may cheapshot you with Cripple or War Stomp before you can get away.

Once your VW pulls the aggro off of you, get a safe distance away and cast Banish. Once the doomguard is safely banished, summon your succubus. Once summoned, immediately sacrifice her using Demonic Sacrifice. This will give you a buff called "Touch of Shadow", which amplifies all shadow damage you deal by 15%.

When the Doomguard is unbanished, cast Curse of Shadows, then, finally, Enslave Demon.

Touch of Shadow's effect should amplify both the effects of Curse of Shadows AND Enslave Demon. It stays with you when you enslave, making it that much tougher for the Doomguard to break free. Add the 10% resist bonus from Imp Enslave Demon and you're almost guaranteed to get the full 5 minutes of enslave the first time, and a good chance of getting the full duration the second time! Your third attempt to enslave the Doomguard will be sketchy, at best. I prefer not to attempt it a third time unless I REALLY have to.

This strategy uses 3 shards (one for VW, the second for Succi, and the third for enslave), but these are easily replaceable with your new minion helping you farm. :)

(Note: Using Abyss Shard for a free VW reduces the cost of this strategy by 1 soul shard).

Anyway...its got a good rate for spawning a Doom Gaurd...it works on the lowest lvl stuff aswell. so just curse it and wait..don't attack it..let it attack you till the 3k damage kills it.

BUT : I hear ppl saying it works on citters..but when i do the critter just runs round and then with like 30 seconds left on the curse it dispels..i'm thinking maybe cause the Critter leaves combat with me or something and you know how mobs regain health and all that when combat is broken?
I'd like to get it working on critters cause then in instances i can curse the critters instead of getting the group to do the ritual or getting a mob down to 3k-ish health and waiting...so...what to do...i can't hit it to stay in combat cause it would kill it with one hit..maybe some more harmless de-buffs to keep it in combat

How can you get it to work on critters?
i can cast it on them..they run around..i don't attack them with anythign cause you know,one hit would kill a lvl 1 critter...the critter runs around and then i guess BECAUSE i'm not in combat with it the curse gets dispelled and it leaves combat so it kinda "resets" ....
anyway to stop this?

However...this has not been working lately. I hared heard though that Blizzard is fixing this bug in the new patch 2.1 I believe.

well to aviod been butcherd by ur own summon warlocks at a hight lvl wud be wise to become engeriers and make ur self a cloke that way u can avoid beening seen by the doom and leave it to go on its lovly bloody rampage either in a big hord town or ali town witch either way u swing

I've cast this spell at least 20 times just to see what the doomguard was like and still he has not been summoned. Every one of the mobs died due to curse, and they were all green or yellow to me. So I know I'm doing it right, yet still no doomguard. That means it's less that a 5% rate. Lamesauce.

You can use Ritual of Doom in BG's. I did it once, taking a solid 5 minutes to get everyone together. He comes up. Kills one of us. Pounds me a bit. Enslave. Then I go out with him and he dies slightly not as fast as a regular demon. People were cussing me out.

Infernals are so much better in BG's, frankly.

If you have a Doomguard and enter a BG, you no longer have one... Not sure on Infernals, but I suppose the rationale is, it takes a lot of effort to get a Doomie. In my case, herding 4 noobies together with the promise of seeing a monster (and 2 silver each).

I love love love Infernals. Doomguards are just way not worth the effort to summon, IMHO.

You're better off with enslave demon, I think. Especially since each time you can get a totally different one. I got some elite demons in Furnance, and they were hitting for 500-800 on their counterpart elites! This is when my void will hit for 50-80 and my Infernal for 250.

Haven't tried jumping on a griffon or zoning.

I have also noticed that doomguards summoned from this spell will de-summon themselves after maybe <10 mins. I think this is because people found out how to banish them to get around diminishing returns. Had it happen twice recently.

Not sure if it happens with Ritual of Doom. If it does, that spell REALLY blows now.

I can understand the effectiveness of this spell, and I can respect that, but I'd like to point out one thing; unless you plan on taking care of the doomguard if it poofs out of nowhere, do not use this spell in an instance. I was in Mana Tombs with a warlock who used this on a boss halfway through the place, and the doomguard appeared. Instead of handling it, he let it notice healing aggro...guess who was the healer. --points at self-- And he wondered why I ignored his health bar throughout the rest of the place, pssh!

But yes, this spell IS very nice, and can even start some hilarious stories to be told around the campfire. One question, however; ever since the last few patches or so, this spell was banned from Battlegrounds. Can it still be cast upon players if you reside on a PvP server?

Ok, just a quick question here. Could any experienced lock out there tell me which demon is best between the felguard, infernal and doomguard please! I presently use a felguard to great effect, but if I found out accurately about the true power of an infernal or a doomguard I would respec to affliction and use one of these fellows instead of the felguard. Any thoughts would be GREATLY appreciated!

I'm a demo spec lock and I've tried felgaurd/infernal comparissons with the following conclusion. Infernals do an absolutely monsterous amount of damage and can take a serious beating, but they don't have the abilities of a felgaurd. The most useful thing I find about felgaurds is intercept, which has saved my life more than once, and joyfully ended the life of a cowardly player attempting to flee from my wrath. I wouldn't really say that either pet is BETTER than the other, since they both have different areas of awesomeness, but the fact that felgaurds are summond with easily replenished soul shards makes them a bit easier to use since infernals require infernal stones, which you have to buy and can run out easily if you're out for any extended period of time. Hope this helps.

As an afterthought, I have not yet used curse of doom sucessfully so I wouldn't know about the power of doomgaurds.

does anyone else find in raids this is quite often lost because of the 40 debuff slot cap? Its really annoying as its usually about 10 seconds to proccing... I just use curse of agony

o yeah and it causes to much threat i mean its a great spell but its like one minute waiting on a raid boss and then finaly it hits the guy for like 5k and your like wohoo critical hit but then you get aggro and die -.-'

the freaking spell says Hits 3200 damage thats so fake! if you got some nice gear with some Spell Damage you can hit it for 5k

and if you got some Vengefull gear and socket them with spelldamage im pretty sure you can hit aroumd 10k

My suspicion is that you must recieve experience from the kill in order to recieve the "bonus" effect of a possible Doomguard, as with the creation of soulshards.

why does he atk u though cant he see that your a powerful warlock and hes just a ugly RAm heading minon of destruction? why does he bother trying to mow down a 40-man raid party is he born retarded? Blizz should make A non-retarded AI like when he sees somethings that can kick hes A! he should run without being bollow 10% health. it would just seem more realistic that way.

This ability helps out a ton. Id still use it even if a doomguard didnt spawn....which he always omes at teh worse times.

With this I can solo regular lvl 60 elite mobs, like the Hederines in Winterspring. Just use COD, chain fear, and let loose Shadow Bolts.

Ok you cast the spell.......for 60 seconds no damage is dealt and then after that 60 seconds 3200 damage is dealt......or is it a dot 3200 damage over 60 seconds?

After being a level 60 warlock for 4 1/2 months I have found spell to be useful in two ways..

-While fear kiting with another warlock in UBRS. Other warlock uses COS (which doesn't effect this but does effect the rate of resists of your fears.) and you use this. You can do a decent amount of damage to spare the rest of the group a few seconds after they kill the gen.

-While bored and you cant think of anything better to do then summon an unreliable doomguard and waste a dozen shards. Whether it be waiting for your idiot buddy to get to you, because you have nobody around to assist with the summoning or just wanting to kill some time while waiting for your cyber buddy to log back on (its probably a man).

The fact is, if you're wanting to level a warlock to 60 just because you can have a doomguard/infernal remember that there is a downside to each one of our moves.. Have fun and warlock power!

The CoD is a traiable spell at 60, and is 200 mana w/ a 60 sec cool. After 60 seconds on a target, it deals 3200 dmg. If your target dies due to its damage, it has around a 5% chance to spawn a doomguard where you stand. It is un-enslaved, and must be enslaved with enslaved demon to maintain control. Casting Curse of shadows on the doomguard before enslaving drastically increases your enslave time, and i reccomend it strongly. CoD CANNOT BE CAST ON PLAYERS OR PETS

The Doomguard has:

War stomp
250 mana(insta cast)
20 sec cool
causes 160 dmg and stuns for 2 sec. anything within 8 yds of range

Cripple
210 mana(insta cast)
30 yd range, 30 sec cool
Cripples the target, reducing movent speed to 60%, and melee/ranged attack speed by 30% for 20 seconds

Dispell
120 mana(instant)
30 yd range, no cooldown
attempts to remove 1 harmful effect or 1 benifical magical effect from your target

Rain Of Fire
800 mana(channeled, 8 sec.)
20 yd range
Burns everything within the targeted area for 800 damage over 8 seconds

His attributes are as follows:

Str: 129 Agi: 85
Stam:234 Int: 70
Spi: 150

Attack: 300
Power: 238
Dmg: 288-382
Defense: 300
Armor: 4076
1950 ish mana
about 4000 HP

Shadow resist: either 75 or 165, i dunno

i hate this spell to resist it you have to be high lvl with some rare items that give alot of stamina...yesterday i was walking with my 12 lvl shaman and from nowhere a 60 lvl warlock comed and she cursed me i even died when it was on 20 sec left...damn the warlocks and their spells

i recieved the ritual of doom and curse of doom from the warlock trainer (in UC) at level 60. thers no instance drop or anything. this spell can be cast on critters but not players. any leveled mob will have the same chance of summon the wild doomguard

i recomend using this spell when you're fighting a boss. and instance boss or raid boss (ex. onyxia, hakkar, etc)
its not worth using it on a mob your level because hopefully, its dead long before 60 seconds are up..

Trained at the normal trainer.
The curse lasts for 1 min, doing nothing. It DOES draw aggro. After 1 min it inflicts one single burst of 3200 dmg (enough for 50es to drop right dead, don't know about higher lvls). Best way to use it is to fear the cursed mob (or seduce him). The Doomguard shall NOT be summoned if the mob dies BEFORE the curse procs, nor shall he be summoned if the curse procs but the mob doesn't die. If the mob dies from the proc however the chance to summon a doomguard is 10%. The Doomguard hits for more than Felguard, has an AoE stun, a dispell, a Cripple (attack speed and movement speed drastic reduction) and a Rain of Fire.
When you summon him you must enslave him on the spot (better do this with a curse of shadows on him) or he'll attack you. When he's enslaved let him do the job, don't DPS hard, for he doesn't keep aggro well and when he loses it he has a hard time getting aggro back. Always watch out for Enslave is unpredictible and might wear off at the most critical point.

CoD does not work on critters, however, it works on tram rats (alliance). Go to IF tram and cast your CoD on the tram rats. the tram rats will attack you. the doomguard summoned on my very first try on the IF end of the tram. prior to this, i had cast my CoD on many elwynn forest mobs to no avail. once the doomguard was summoned, i killed him very quickly and easily being a destruction lock.

I just got bored today, and decided to summon a Doomguard just for kicks.
It all started very well since I got a doom guard right at my 1st attempt. Then I tried to enslave him, but my enslave spell says "Demons up to Lvl 59", so when I tried to enslave him, it symply said that the demon cannot be charmed?

How's this possible?

Gnome Warlock affliction :
casted it on lvl 6+ mobs outside the gates of IF, & he spawns when I was afk ( thought it had the 5% chance ), it came after 6-7 kills

same spells as they said

just one note : I took him to IF for dueling, he broke lose between 4 guards lvl 65, he attacked me, crippled, got me to red, I used healthstone, he stuneed all guards to kill me.

luckly the guards killed him, I don't think I can solo him without deathcoil and hearthstone , because Cripple really slow enslave .

but he walks and flies near you, also he has the most damage I've seen in pet ( more than infernal ) , but he doesn't look that he can take damage as infernal .

I've captured him in a screen, and I'll try to upload it now

As far as I'm concerned, this spell simply doesn't work. I've tried dozens of mobs and not a single one spawns any kind of Doomguard. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, or if the chance of spawn is so laughably small that this spell simply isn't even worth trying.
